If I could find a portable that actually met my on the go needs for flowers, I would not combust at all anymore! At home with a sub there is just no excuse to combust anymore!
I'm hoping the portable LSV when it comes out (if it ever does) will do just that.

I got my Solos this year (one in March, one in September? I dunno) and after that, I just didn't want to combust. Didn't taste as good and the high for me comes on faster and sharper. I can't remember the last time I did combust, and since I've got a scientific bong I can pair the Solo with I even still get the full experience.
I sound like a Solo shill, but if you could've seen how hardcore I was about my bong collection and the whole ritual of lighting/hitting/holding... I laugh at how much I missed.

I am from the uk and for like 7/8 years i smoked spliffs with tobacco in them because that was just how people consumed it. I used to smoke cigarettes aswell but haven't for like 2 years but never really felt addicted. About 2 months ago i thought it has to be really bad smoking unfiltered cigarette smoke for 5 joints a day so thought fuck it i will stop. Got myself a solo (best thing i ever did) and bought some 1 1/4 sized papers as all the shops sell is king sized over here and i am now about a month without any tobacco whatsoever. I hkt the vape around 90% of the time when i am on my own and have an occasional bowl from my bong/pipe and if i am out and about or with my friend who is matching me then we take turn rolling joints (pure) in the smaller papers. I recomend this to anyone and if people from the uk don't believe me then try it yourself but i go through like half the amount of bud i did before!!

The only time my lighters get action is if I decide to burn incense! Which I don't have to, because the Solo doesn't make my clothes smell burny.
I took my Solo to a party and passed it around. At least four people there said that they seriously would get one for themselves, and these guys are all super experienced (some 'in the field' so to speak). We can change the world, FCers!

Isn't that great? Just think of all the carcinogens in incense alone. Not to mention the cannabis. I used to burn incense too. Our lives are much healthier and we will live longer, unless we get hit by a bus. The end of this month it will be 2 years for me. I tried to combust once (peer pressure) I couldn't take one draw without coughing. It's not for me anymore and I don't miss it one bit.

Welcome to a healthier lifestyle, you can smell and taste again.

I still burn incense occasionally.
But not the diesel-soaked shitsticks I've seen on venice boardwalk :zombie:
Nag champa all the way

"Incense -- at least the good stuff -- is just ground up spices or wood bark or herbs, flowers, whatever the fragrance is, stuck together with tree sap."

I'm forever grateful to the random gas station attendant who asked me if I 'burned incense' often and then turned me on to Nag Champa. I don't do anything but imported stuff nowadays.
More on topic, the amount of weed I save by vaping is crazy. I thought I was a using at a fantastic pace until my dude commented on my infrequency. It doesn't feel that way from my end!

Once I find a portable that actually delivers huge lung busting hits (a la the Sublimator) from flowers, I'll be a complete non-combuster. Until that time, the Sub made me quit combusting at home (a habit that a Solo, a Nano, a Lotus and a PNP couldn't kill!) but when out and about I'll still smoke a doobie because it is the best option til I can find a portable vape that doesn't just gather dust when I own it!

I look forward to finding a suitable high quality portable for flowers that doesn't have the inevitable and various deal-breaking trade-offs that have kept me away from flower portables for a while.

Hello FC!

First poster, been reading you all for a while and finally decided to join and participate in this merry gathering

I'm on the same boat as you guys/gals it seems:
In a nutshell, European toker, lived near the Netherlands so plenty of strains but very expensive, nobody smoked pure round here...Moved to Spain some years ago, mostly hash here on black market, until I joined a local cannabis club last year.
Tried/saw some some vapes & decided this was for me!! Always HATED the smell of combusted material sticking everywhere :goat:...YUK...(not to speak of bong gack...:zombie:).

So i got myself a Solo, but like you @herbivore, can't FC at home either...
Long story short, purchased a Sub  a few days back, based on the good advice of the good people here, as we seem to have similar consumption habits.
Added a nice piece to go with it, for my birthday .

From next week, I'll start my conversion!
Seriously can't wait, I'm surprised I'm finally getting rid at last of this nasty combustion habit!!

Nice meeting you all and see you round in threads!

:peace:

last year i only smoked a joint on two occasions. both were situation, where it served as a kind of bonding ritual, not to be confused with group pressure. well it kind of had to be done, but it only reinforced my decision to stay in vapor only zone. so i hope, there will be no more slip-offs in the future. :) have a good year everybody! :)

Thought I should update this thread and say that my search is over. I had such success with the S & B Mighty (I am not any kind of S & B fanboy by the way, I thought the volcano was ok, but it didn't kill my combustion habit or even convince me to get one - bags and whips are not for me!) that I went and got a Crafty as well.

I even ended up selling my Sublimator XLR 2.0 - The Mighty/Crafty are tastier and can whitewall a piece (although cannot give you the same one hit extraction/clouds as the sub). :D

Smoked joints and cigarettes for nearly 40 years. Got myself a Solo (and now loads of other stuff) and have not looked back since. Tried a joint a few times and hated it, just tasted burnt. I now vape my home grown directly in the Solo and MiniVap. I am also making concentrates (QWET/QWISO/BHO) which I occasionally dab on a Ti nail but usually vape in a pen (Dr Dabber/Dabbler).

I bought my first vape about three years ago and I have not combusted since!
I still roll a lot of joints though, a couple of times a week while I'm having a vape sesh I roll like 5-10 joints, only to break them apart and load up my vape!

That is beautiful. You've found a nice way to keep practicing an art not needed anymore, for the sake of the beauty in the art.

Well I am back!

Thought I'd give you guys an update...Have been combustion free for about 5 days!!! :argh:

It has been a rather rough experience; long story short, had problems with postal delivery so couldn't start vaping during XMas holidays as I wanted. Then found out a close family member was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, that left me reeling for a while...
But it persuaded me even more to FC ASAP, although it has been quite hard to ride out, and needed the help of nicotine chewing-gums, but am on the right path I hope.

Then again, having cut down from around ten to two tobacco spliffs a day the previous month was a MAJOR health improvement, so I'll tke things easy and won't self- :whip: if I relapse.
Two a day would be a manageable amount of poison for a few months, until summer comes and then it'd be easier to stop, in a more worry free-time of the year I guess..

@Burken:
Yes! I 'm with you on that one no doubt! The rolling ability it the ONLY thing I miss from combustion...I'm not as disciplined as you and would probably ending up blazing them :dog:, so I'd rather refrain from 'playing with fire' again...

Great to see so many of us getting to grips with abandoning our old bad habit but still be able to pursue our hobby. I know this is not the place to push product but I have to mention the Arizer Air.
I am a huge fan of the Solo but for some reason it could not completely replace the "joint" experience for me. Somehow the Air does fill that gap. It is so light that it just feels like a slightly over sized esig, i can sit and toke on it pretty much like I used to with a joint. The vapour quality on on a par (or possibly even better than) with the Solo. It is now my daily vape. Its great to have a Solo as backup but the Air is a real game changer.

I quit smoking cigarettes with the help of an e-cig a little less than a month ago. Was sick of coughing up nasty brown gunk... Switched to vaping my herb around the same time as well...

Needless to say, my lungs are thanking me for it. My nasty cough has gone away!

Now, the only time I combust herb is when I'm with friends who are. I'm not sure I can see myself completely giving combustion up in those infrequent situations. But I do know that I'll NEVER pick up the cigs again. Yuck!

Overall, I'm quite pleased with my lifestyle changes. So I have to say, (for the most part anyway) fuck combustion!

I gave up combustion about 10 years ago. Bought an ubie and fell in love with vaping. And you can eat the abv! So great to have the herb last longer with no waste. The taste is so much better too. Stumbled across this forum and learned so much from all you guys. Through reading the threads I now own a Hammer, Elevape and Firefly. Beginnings of vas? I vape everyday and combust on occasion when I go to visit my caregiver. When he passes the pipe to me I'll take a couple of hits just out of social etiquette. I am so fortunate to have someone to supply me with top quality meds and perfectly legal in my state. So I like to keep him happy. Must say if I was in a gathering of combusters I'd probably take a hit or two just because the monkey on my back gets hard to shake sometimes. But when I'm home alone I'll only vape, so much more enjoyable way to enjoy this favorite past time.

Supdog - right there with ya. I don't turn away from smoking MJ in a social situation unless I have a vape available. Don't want to alienate anyone so I'm just trying to be nice.....nice and buzzed. :spliff:

Me too, on both accounts!

...I was at my local Cannabis Social Club yesterday and refused MY FIRST smoke after quitting!
...Mainly because I'd have looked like a sissy after going on for 1/2 an hour about how great vaping is... It HAD to be done! ...FUCK COMBUSTION :nope:

Must admit at first I looked like a snob too, but now it seems people are getting used to see me vaping in my corner; at least three were 'converted' (especially after trying it! :ko:).

I'm really comfy with VAS though, about to pull the trigger on my 3rd vape... Its a cool way of switching habits, just reinvesting money otherwise wasted on tobacco & papers, etc.
...Can't save up on health! :disgust:

OTOH I find it funny how 'resisting combusters' try to explain why smoking is so great when you put a vape under their noses... Like if you had never smoked in your life before! ('But you see.. its the ritual.. you inhale the smoke, blow rings (or whatever).. ..after a hard day at work, to relax... etcetc')
They even put this sad face on, as if you weren't part of the 'culture' anymore...:lmao:
