High potency edibles

So my sugar worked out okay. I mixed it with some Crystal light. I poured enough for 2 quick drinks into a cup. Added sugar and mixed well. I did notice not all of the sugar got suspended into the drink. Has a bit in the bottom of the cup. I was able to pour a bit more into a wash it down. Not sure if I drank it fast enough or what but no oily mess like the first batch. I think the first one was still holding some alcohol. Wife added it to some hot tea without much issue. She too had some in the bottom of the cup. She used a spoon to recover and eat it

I've been so pleased with my Ardent NovaFX, I canceled the Levo2 order. It seemed pointless to have both. For straining, I bought a Stanley French Press that I've yet to use. While waiting for shipping, I just started using my Bodum drip coffee filter, and that got me away from nut milk bags. The bags worked, but every time I wanted to make nut milk, I'd grab the one I used to strain coconut oil.
Canna sugar is next, as soon as I find Everclear 151. I ordered flossing sugar, paper cones, and a cotton candy machine to make canna cotton candy. I have enough baked goods to last awhile, so it's time to try something different. At worst, I can use regular flossing sugar and spoil the grandkids.

Cotton candy is a great idea!

I found a bottle of everclear at the local grocery store. Saved me the trouble of going to the liquor store.

Thank you! I had visions of driving from liquor store to liquor store hunting for booze for my weed. Checking the supermarket seems like a much better idea.

Have you ever looked into buying ethyl online...? I'm looking at switching from 99% iso for cleaning, tinctures, everything really and would rather get jugs... this is about $90 delivered for me (Amazon prime iso was like $30 a gal):

This was $120 delivered:

Organic:

about the same cost as Everclear... cheaper on eBay, of course...

When ive bought 190 and 200 proof alcohol online I had to pay a $25 hazardous shipping fee. Same fee for 2 or more gallons. I split 5 gallons with a friend last time for our best price.

And if your trying to reduce an alcohol tincture to feco, it's much easier to use 190-200 proof. 151 proof is alight for tinctures as long as you don't reduce it too much.

The prices I posted included all fees and taxes for a single gal delivered to a Massachusetts burb...

Yeah, I saw in the first link you'll get free shipping if you spend $420... heh

I think I'm going this route when the iso runs out (4 more pints to go!), I really kinda hate the stuff...

Since I'm just getting my feet wet with all this I have not splurged into the fancy stuff yet. Plus the bottle of everclear was easy to get and cheap for a 5th of booze.

I am curious about these tincture.

I use iso for the initial extraction because of the volume I use. I'm a caregiver with 5 patients.

I use iso to strip used rosin pucks, popcorn buds and older buds. Including up to 25% cbd. My trim goes to patients for free.

I winterize the resulting oil with 200 proof ethanol. Once the iso is gone I re dilute with ethanol, freeze for several days, filter again using unbleached coffee filters and render that down to oil a second time.

This way I use much less of the expensive ethanol, but it's a time consuming process.

My oil is clean and strong but terpene free. But if it were just for me I'd use ethanol. Quicker and easier.

I make the oil about 4 times a year and I've made up to 45 ml at a time. I store it in 1 and 3 ml syringes.

My patients and I use it for edibles. I estimate it's approximately 800+mg per ml. I tried it on a nail once, it was very strong but you only taste oil, so imo there are better options for vaping.

Fasten your seat belts, there may be turbulence.
This ride should be easy and smooth. It's Friday night my favorite album is soothing my ears and my belly is full. I got nothing to do but enjoy the night as work will come fast tomorrow morning. Not sure why I take a Monday off just to work Saturday. Anyways I'm off topic and rambling.

Currently have 2 jars in the FX decarbing 1 is a small batch of Forbidden Z budder 0.3 grams at 216mgs. The other is some lemon bean budder also at 0.3 at 214mg. Not sure what we are going to do with em.

I am very happy with my cannasugar, got a big jar for very little trouble that I can put in coffee or tea, or just about anything. So easy, but it did cost me $70 in drinking alcohol. Next time I grind first, and use 1/3 the alcohol to cover and save some dough.
It seems to stay mostly dissolved in my coffee with a small amount of sludge that I swirl through the last few mouthfuls. Taste is pretty good, I wouldn't want to chew on a spoonful straight, but you could.
I started my day with an infused muffin washed down with a 2 spoon cup of strong coffee, technically a triple dose. Just about right to get me motivated on a cold and frosty morning...

Are you churning your own canna ice cream?
No, the first time I did it I softened some store bought and used 1/4 tsp of infused heavy cream. Then hand mixed and refroze for 15 mins. Yesterday I did the same but sub the infused cream for coconut oil.

Edit to add I'm using concentrates I guess infused isn't the correct term. I'm thinking carrier is a better term as I'm just mixing it in.

Well, the canna candy worked out. I made canna sugar, then fired up my bargain cotton candy machine. The Nostalgia cotton candy machine RetroRed805 is normally around $50, but I checked the warehouse price on Amazon, and they had a like new return in a dented box for $22, so I grabbed that. I hadn't had cotton candy in decades, but saw a YouTube video where canna sugar was being used, and I wanted to try it. I mixed the canna sugar with Kirkland organic sugar, and crushed Butter Rum Lifesaver's for flavor for the first round. The surprise was how much fun it was to spin the sugar. I tried paper cones, and I tried paper straws to gather the floss, and both worked well. I tried various hard candies ( Lifesavers, peppermint, lemon drops) tried Pink Vanilla and Blue Berry flossing sugar, then settled on my favorite, actual Maple Sugar.
The Maple Sugar/canna sugar blend is heavenly. I've ordered Honey sugar to try next, and am making Vanilla sugar with vanilla beans to try after that. I used lavender paste, mixed with sugar and gel color in violet and canna sugar, and tried lavender floss. I'm sick of sugar at this point, but this has been a fun and effective way to get medicated, and the canna sugar works well with a variety of flavors. I couldn't finish every flavor, so I squished the remaining puffs into labeled jars to use in coffee, tea. A ring of sugar builds up in the bowl, and after the cotton candy maker cools down, I run a scraper around the edge, then collect the sugar to jar to re-spin or use in drinks. It only takes a total of 1 tablespoon of sugar per cotton candy cone, it's effective, and it's fun.

Sounds awesome but wait just a minute, "frosty morning" in Aus....? Outside some mountain in Tasmania (@LesPlenty)...? ;)
No, I am in Queensland but an Antarctica front has pushed up cold air right across the country. It was 3 degrees C this morning, that is about as cold as it gets here. More used to the heat we Queenslanders are a bit soft when it gets chilly.🥶

Sorry, I was fairly well lit at the time and after multiple edits, the "joke" or acceptable "turn of phrase", as it were, never actually materialized... :smug:

Les is in Tas and he showed me pics of a "ski resort" (heh) there, and was kind of under the impression that's the only (regularly, in season) sub-zero spot in Aus... 🤪

I prolly shouldn't be active in this thread as I'm not the biggest eddies fan, but I do want to try a good tincture to see if the experience is much dif than that of edibles... it'll just have to wait til the ISO's gone... 🤐🥴🤮
