I've had some time with a used Herbo I got from a great forum member, and I'd like to chime in. It's a normal unit, not the XL. I cannot help compare it to the MW, my DD for some some time, and a similar vape in many ways.
The Herborizer is quite a good vaporizer! Flavor is maybe 8/10, cloud production about the same, and heater element heat retention is excellent, better than the 7th floor vapes and roughly on par with the Magickwand. I do not at all feel a need to allow the heating element to recover from a big rope, it seems ready immediately. I think the cables on the Herbo feel more sturdy. The single set temp is a fair compromise, you can take material to a very consistent brown. The set temp however is a real bummer to concentrate vapers, and this could have been remedied with some sort of second set of ice pinches higher up the bowl, where a screen could rest if the user desired, thus raising temps that the herbals would be exposed to. I also really, really dislike the tiny handles on the injector and bowl. While they do give a very nice elegant aesthetic to the unit and all, they're also tiny, slippery, and not all that far removed from the hot glass. The handles should be bigger, beefier, and extend further from the body of the vape. Couple the awkwardness of the injector with the weight of the cord hanging from it, and you have an awkward-ass, dangerously hot piece of glass begging to be mishandled ever so slightly and dropped. My injector appears to have just the tiniest evidence of some faint faint cracks on the injector's bottom. After reading others' posts I'm still not terribly worried. I think the injector design IS however one of the Herbo's greatest strengths, as "hot spotting" is very very minimal, heat is distributed to four corners of the bowl and I find only a single or maybe double stirring is necessary to extract all from a bowl. The entire injector portion should be made an inch or two taller, then you could simply grab the top of the glass safely like you can with the Magickwand.
I find both the Herbo and MW have a tendency to actually produce thicker vapor when you draw faster, which is different than alot of other vapes. In summation I think they are roughly equal vapes. Both have excellent heat retention, while the MW I think has slightly better flavor, and I prefer the larger form factor of the "injector" portion makes it safer and easier to hold. Its silicone sleeve protects it from impacts as well as helping to reduce heat somewhat. The Magickwand heater portion uses a 19mm male, which is far more universal, allowing the use of it (potentially) on vapes like the glass vaporgenie, and any number of carbon-filter type bowls. The Herbo however has the multi-holed injector design and this makes for almost no hot spotting, which the Magickwand does deal with to some extent. Both are very, very good vapes, and my choosing between them if I were going to buy new would probably be determined on whether I was living in the US or Europe.
Is it officially okay to leave the Herbo on for 12 or even 24 hour periods?
