Planning on buying a herborizer but i exclusively use pressed hash(no weed),
can the heborizer be used with pressed hash ?
I'm pretty sure it would work, but I think it would melt into the screen and get lost. I would suggest a layer of herb and break the hash up into pieces. If your only reason for not using weed is preference, I suggest you give it a try in the herborizer; you will probably like it. I have only tried bubble hash mixed with herb in mine, but it works great. The hash makes the hits thicker and taste more potent.

I've used pressed has a few times with my herbo. Like hanfhead said just use a "green screen" and it works great. May want to grind it up good for more surface area and turn up the heat a little more than your normally would.

hey yall do you clean the injector portion the same way as the rest of the glass? I wasn't sure if it was cool to soak the heating element in iso for a length of time or anything.

thx

I have only put mine in iso once, and only the tip opposite the cord. I don't think it is really necessary to clean that often unless it is really caked. (I am a fairly heavy user) I do get some toasted material that lodges between the outer portion of the end that goes into the bowl. I smashed a bamboo skewer flat so that I can fit it inside and I run it around the inside and blow it out every now and then.

Yea I've had it for almost a year now - never cleaned the heating element once (but do clean the other glass quite often). Just wondering if that it going to affect longevity one way or another - the heating element has been making that high-pitched buzzing sound that some others have written about these days.

Two weeks ago the dc converter died on me. It's strange that it just died.
Should I email the guy in france?
It's just a normal socket to 12v and they have so many in the local electrical suplier. But I will have to solder a new connector, if I'm not so lucky to find a perfect match. Who knows. Maybe it's a starndard or something.

Well my injector died on me as well - the webpage says the element should be good for 10+ years! I think I have had it for maaaybe a year.

MichMartin - how do you tell if its the converter or the injector? The LED light still comes on when I plug it all in - just no heat anymore.

With a voltmeter you could tell if the heating element is receiving power.

Most cartridge heaters are designed to fit in a snug fitting design where the heater directly touches the item to be heated, unfortunately most vaporizers including this one have a loose fitting, open air design with wires exposed. Essentially this means the heat from the Heating Element actually cooks itself and the wires because the heat reflects of the glass creating an oven so to speak. They are really made to be in direct contact so that the heat penetrates directly into the target item. This could be why the VHW has a reputation of burning out elements. Does this make sense?

I would. Sebastien's a nice guy. He may have something helpful to offer even if you're not covered under warranty.

@ 2000pm:
With my converter the led don't light up.

@ max
I did. We are hooking up deal right now. He is very nice.

He wanted the order number. I have forgot this by now and probably thrown away any paper with it on. If not it is lost.
So I sent him the transaction id from paypal but I don't think he realize it's as good as a receipt.
I think it's the language barrier, but he is really nice and have been my past times dealing with him/herborizer.

No problem 2000pm, I am sure he will help you out, I have read nothing but praise with his customer service.

Since the heater is in the Airpath anyway, he would be better off using a heater that was designed to heat air like a 'Finned Cartridge Heater', these fins would radiate heat far better while effectively heating the air at a more consistent temperature with less energy used.

The Fins create more surface area and cause turbulence in the air when you inhale drawing air over the Fins will cause turbulence in the air rather than the current flat design which has a flat heater that has nothing to stop the air from whizzing by, this means uneven air temperatures so you have to be more aware of your inhalation technique.

Below is a Finned Cartridge Heater:

Shouldn't the fins be the other way?
I think more of the air will be in contact with the metal that way.

You want drag/resistance to the airs flow, if that heater is mounted in a fairly tight enclosure, every time you inhale you will be technically forcing air into those fins which also add the benefit of more surface area for heat to radiate from.

If you had Longitudinal fins like you mentioned, they would also create more surface area but you wouldn't have the drag and the air would quickly flow right through the channels. More drag equals more time in contact with the heat which in turn equals more consistency in temperature of the heated air.

No prob, I have not seen an Herborizer in person so I don't know if the opening would be large enough to fit the Finned Heating Element but I always had an idea to have a local artist on Etsy make a similar design with room for the Fin Heater, the design is so simple with just a glass shell/enclosure with a gong joint and a handle, I know a glass blower/artist could duplicate the glass part for cheap.

I finally received my Herborizer :D I have to say that the functionality is awesome. It is a blast to use with glass since it attaches with an 19mm joint. The bowl is fairly large though, which might make it less efficient than the SSV wand I've been using. I still need to experiment. Maybe I can find a way to make the bowl capacity smaller. I'm also finding that pulling faster gives me thicker vapor. This is completely opposite from what I've experienced with other vapes. More practice is needed.

You can use the screen above the bumps to make the bowl smaller. I did it for a while but went back to pushing it all the way down. You have to be careful stirring it that you don't flip the screen. I have a friend that blows glass; I was going to ask him to put another set of dimples to make the screen adjustable. I might do it if and when I can get a second bowl just in case. I was thinking of getting the 14 as a replacement so I would have both sizes.

You could have a glass blower make you a custom bowl with smaller area, someone on this board had one made by a blower named Blazemaster. You could even have a glass blower make you a small crucible to fit inside your original bowl.

I forget who did this but he had the whole set for sale a while ago in the Buy/Sell section.

How much should i be paying for the XL without any glass? Is their site the only place to buy from?

Hm, I've been really quite impressed by everything I read about the Herborizer... well in fact I still am and would love to own one. But the reports about the broken injectors worry me a bit... seems to be quite common after all. And as far as I know the guarantee is only covering a year or so (?)
So I'm thinking maybe I should get an aromed instead since it seems to be way more durable... or shouldn't I?
Why is it so damn hard to choose the right vape! ;)

One of my friends was in the market for a new bong today so I went with her to one of the local headshops here in S Fla. To my surprise they had the Herborizer! In fact, the Herborizer website only lists this shop as well as another one here in northern Florida as the only two US distributors. I figured I had just invested a ton of money in my Roor so this would be absolutely perfect.

I'm feeling kind of sick today so I still haven't had a chance to try it out. I'll post once I do.
