seb actuallynsent me the tube instead ofthe sphere so I have been fortunate to try both. IMO it is kind of like the whip versus bagcomparison, they both have different vaping experiences. Both are awesome for different reasons and you can't go wrong with either

Can you provide a little more detail on your impression of the hit difference between the two?

Max, no problem. So I would say The tube was much more like hitting a Roor. I can?t recall exactly if you could fill it with water or not, but I remember taking dry vapes out of this thing and you really could milk a fat hit. The sphere could be more closely compared to hitting a whip type vape, except filtered through water. I guess the closest comparison would be using the SSV with one of the water filters. The sphere has more resistance when you are hitting it (kinda like the PD hit, but definitely not as much resistance, more like the resistance you get from a whip vape) whereas the tube is much more free flowing (if that makes any sense). The major reason why I went with the sphere is cause I tend to get zits around my mouth when sharing waterpipes with other people, so I got the sphere where I can put my mouth over the tube and just wipe it clean if I?m sharing. If my skin wasn?t so sensitive, I would choose?..BOTH! Just like anything else, it?s a matter of preference, the good thing is, you can?t go wrong with either

^ Interesting. Thanks. As much as I'd like to play with the Herbo (both models :drool:), like KeepCalm said after researching the Herbo and buying the PD, justifying the cost can be tough. And especially so for me, since the Surfer satisfies my desire for big hits.

Max, in today?s economic climate, it is very difficult to justify the purchase of any vape, esp if you own superb performing units like the SSV and PD. I can tell you this though, now that I use med grade silicone tubing, the taste that I used to noticed from the whip is pretty much non-existent. If you want to be as close to an all glass set up like the VRIP or Herbo, get one of the water filters or ice chambers from 7th floor and some medical grade silicon tubing. The SSV + silicone tubing + water filter is very, very close to the experience so the sphere Herbo. With about the cost of the herbo, you can get herbo like vapor exp, that?s a decent compromise

a vape beyond your first one that is, ive been thinking of vaporizers ore as medical devises than paraphenalia though, i certainly wouldnt be able to justify buying a big brand name overpriced bong (roor is the volcano of the bong world :rolleyes: ) but i can justify $40 now for a vaporstar and then $150 for a pd after christmas, but then again they are both very economical vapes (the vaporstar cost wise and the pd cost and efficiency wise)

You're right, what I meant to say what it's hard to justify buying another vape when you already own a SSV/PD and I-inhale. I stand corrected

1/4 the cost being the price of an SSV ice chamber or water filter. For someone without an SSV and trying to decide between that unit (filtered) and a Herbo, the price difference varies from $53 more for the standard Tube, to $203 more for the Sphere XL. At $343 delivered, vs. $290 for the SSV setup, the Herbo Tube sounds like a great choice for bong lovers.

what i really do like in the Herbo is that it is a single unit, easy to handle...with no tubing to think about!
I think that the Tube works without water but i'm not sure....here my way to clean up the sphere:
I put some iso alcohol and some sale grosso (italian word that means big crystals salt) but common salt should work fine.
I start to shake the sphere in all directions to scrap all the thin resinous film that appear after several sessions.
I finish the cleaning with hot water until it shine like brand new!
I let the bowl soaking night time in a glass of iso and rinse the day after....now i can take it with me to my promise land..jah know :cool:

Another brilliant thing for cleaning glass bongs and pipes for any brits and aussies is a product called De-Solv-It, it's a citrus based cleaner. 3 squirts with a bit of rock salt and shake and even the dirties glass come up like new, it even removes calcium buildup from hard water. I have alot of expensive glass and people are always amazed at how spotless they are.

I ordered the SSV a couple of weeks ago then ordered the Herborizer XL Sphere a week later, still no sign of the SSV and customer support isn't answering emails but the post lady surprised me today by delivering my Herborizer today only 6 days after ordering , even after being opened by customs for inspection :o
After destroying the packaging I quickly got it warmed up and started playing with temps and settled at about 70 on the dial, this baby produces fantastic tasting thick hits;

After getting very high after what seemed an awful lot of hits from 1 small bowl I decided to see just how efficient it was and measured out 0.2 grams of well cured ground bud and started noting how many good hits I got, 27 hits later and this is the result;

As you can see there's still a bit left which I like to leave for extraction :cool:
I'm totally blown away with the size of the hits you can get from this, how many you get and also the taste never seems to turn to a burnt popcorn taste that I've noticed with other vapes.
I'll probably add to this review when I get around to trying it on my tubes.

420downunder - sorry to hear about the SSV not arriving but I'm sure the Herbo will keep you more than happy. This is pretty much the pinnacle of vaping, all glass set ups are so beautiful. I wish I had the temp adjuster for my set up but I'm not complaining. Enjoy your Herbo, my only advice is, always keep it in an area where dogs/cats/stoned friends can't easily trip over the cord and kill your investment, other than that, happy vaping!

Wow, I have collected a lot of glass smoking pieces over the years. I thought that by abandoning the combustion method that I would have no need for all of the glass stuff anymore. So I cleaned up most of my glass pieces to like new condition and will give them away as Christmas gifts to my friends who smoke. However, after looking at 420Downunder's new Herborizer Sphere XL I am second guessing my decision to get rid of a few certain pieces that I could possibly use the Herbozier with. Thanks for posting those pictures 420Downunder. Now I know what to get for my next vaporizer after my PD arrives.

Excellent pics, thank you. There's a shortage of good Herbo pics out there. :D And I think the Herbo club needs a few more members too. One of these days.

still no sign of the SSV and customer support isn't answering emails
Yeah, 7th Floor can be pretty hit and miss with emails :/ hope you get it soon.

Enjoy. :)

gg...I would keep a couple of your favorite pieces of glass. There are a number of ways to vape with them, and your collection will probably come in handy as you vape more. I love running my Extreme through my little glass bong occasionally.

welcome in the Herbo club 420Downunder!! Thanks for those nice pics too!
I'm glad finally a new Herbo buddy is coming in this corner to share some impressions...i was so lonlely since ozwiz disappeared long time ago!
Obviously you are enjoying the full flavor till the end of the bowl thanks to the stainless steel heater....i've got a SSV for two weeks and i love it for the hit size and high vapor to air ratio but the taste is going fast through the bowl ending as pop corn.
Take your time testing all your glass gears and report your opinions but now....enjoy the good vapor!

In January a new Herborizer site will be ready and hopefully better that this one!

I want one! I almost ordered one when the euro was at like 1.22 to the dollar, but other stuff came up. Now it looks like things are swinging all over the place, with the euro at like 1.45 this morning, now 1.39. When to buy!? I guess if I knew I could be pretty rich ahahaha
