Granted this 4 piece is overkill as who needs four pieces? But you can break it down if you prefer a shorter version.

I use my jar 4 piece as a 3 piece without the jar and screen in essence making it a vape gr8tr with an extra grinding plate.

Overall I really like it because I find the fluffy grind gives me nice clouds and probably uses less herb because of the fluffiness. I do find that sticky residue around the threads and on the lip of the grinder cylinder piece that screws into the bottom (the kief holder, which in my case is the main holder). It's really stuck on there and not easy to clean. Also stuff stays in the main compartment and doesn't fall completely through the grinding plates (more so with the fine plate).

Relatively minor issues. Have not tried the 45 degree angle technique as mentioned above and have not needed to grind upside down.

One thing I do find is that the grinder plate needs frequent tightening (on mine at least) as it seems to loosen up quite a bit. The result is more stuff left in the main chamber and not falling through. So if anyone using it finds it does not seem to be grinding properly check the plate and tighten.

Those are some nice observations @George1151

I have also experienced some build-up in the threads. Not really a lot, but I can see that in time, it could be a bit annoying to clean ALL the threads in the GR8TR (there are quite a bunch, specially when you use it as a 4pc). I suppose it's the price to pay for modularity!!!
Also I believe it's a quite normal thing in metal 4 pc grinders, maybe you guys with more experience can correct me about that?
I still haven't found the need to clean it, just used a little brush once a day and it's staying neat. So I don't know how much difficult it is to clean than other similar grinders...

Haven't had any loosening of the plates/screens yet, but it's true you really want to keep them tight so the grinder works efficiently

Still haven't tried more cured buds with the finer plate neither, so can't confirm that the (small) amount of stuff staying in the main chamber is moisture or design related... Again needing some input from you guys... And more experimentation of course

I find that these issues don't really worry me atm... I'm having a GR8T honeymoon with this grinder if you know what i mean

My GAS is cured. I now have several graters including the Santa Cruz and a few others. Last purchase was the Cosmic. I've been using several at a time for different strains and I've ended up realizing that the one I want to use is the GR8TR Jar Grinder. It always produces the right texture. The price at Amazon is pretty reasonable.

I also found that the grinder plate loosened up but I am not sure if it is because I did not tighten it down originally. But like you said, these are minor issues considering how wonderful the unit grinds material.

I cranked the grinder plate yesterday as tight as it will go, used it once or twice with small load and today I'm grinding and the herb isn't going all the way through, kept plugging away to grind and finally decided to check the tightness and sure enough it was severely unscrewed like 4 or 5 turns worth. Don't know if this is a design defect or a problem unique to mine. Will have to contact Kannastor about it.

Try twisting more in the counter clockwise direction as you're grinding, as that will tighten the plate as you grind.
You don't have to only turn counter clockwise, just make sure you turn it further counter clockwise than clockwise.
Sounds like you're doing just the opposite, and actually loosening the plate as you grind.
Make this small adjustment in your technique and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the tip @Mulehead. I rotate in both directions but definitely more clockwise. Home that is the trick to make that hassle disappear.

I too cut some fingers when first handling the GR8TR, be careful! Overall this is the best grinder i've ever used to date. Grinds everything you throw at it like butter and with such ease! I just wish I had a 3rd grinding plate, that was a litter coarser than the coarse plate that is included. I find that the coarse is still fairly fine. Perhaps a regular not GR8TR Kannastor would produce the grind i'm looking for.

Best grinder ever! No issues with loose plates plates or stuff not falling through...? The weight of the top is impressive!

Since our last production update, we have continued to machine the aluminum body of the grinder and they are now complete.

The spinner contains one magnet, one stainless steel insert, and two food-safe, friction-reducing plastic components. These parts have been successfully manufactured and delivered to us. The guitar pick scraper for your pollen catcher has also been received.

The laser we are using to mark the logo is currently in our shop. We will complete the setup and start engraving this week. The new laser marks much nicer than the following photo so we're really excited about the improved quality!

In our last update we mentioned that we had solved the inconsistencies in our anodizing. Because of this, we have to upgrade the electrical in our shop and install a tumbler large enough to hold the aluminum pieces. The tumbler is purchased and on its way. It will be installed this week so we can tumble all the aluminum parts in preparation for anodizing. In the meantime, we are using our current tumblers to de-burr and shine up all our stainless steel component and assemble the blades/shafts.

For those that ordered selected the premium packaging option, we will be laser etching your custom message onto your wood box this week so make sure you have filled out your survey!

For those of you who didn't order a personalized case, your grinder will come in a presentable, re-usable, black box with the Lift Innovations grinder logo. This packaging is being fabricated as I type this.

Once all the parts have gone through their finishing processes, we will wash/sanitize, assemble, and start shipping! We are working hard to get the first units out the door next week. If anyone wants to bring us coffee, we'll be awake and working for the next 150 hours.

So after a week of hard experimentations with better cured buds and the GR8TR finer grind plate (all for the science, of course)... I have to say that this thing works just marvellously

Still had no issues with unthreading of the grinder plates nor need for a deep cleansing, will report if/when this changes!

Cleaned my Gr8tr for the first time and man did it ever improve the smoothness and grating ability. I didn't give it more than a wash in hot water and a dry when I got mine. Did not find mine as smooth or stick free as most people were talking about. Gave it a cleaning using Randy's Black Label. I got the cleaner as a throw in goodie when I bought my desktop. I know people prefer iso to the acetone based Randy's and I have used both and I find the Randy's works better and faster. I rinse the hell out of it after I finish the quick soak and agitation in a small ziplock.

The Gr8tr seems smoother and less left behind in the main shredding chamber than before. I have not ground up too much since doing this but it definitely seems improved. Just wondering if there is some kind of protective coating on the new units that attracts stickies or if I just needed to do the cleaning sooner than I did.

Best part of using the Gr8tr is the fluffiness of the grind. In my Haze V2 there is pretty much no difference between using the coarse or the fine screen so I use the coarse. Wondering if acetone can damage aluminum. Says on the bottle good for metal glass and ceramic.

So true, the grind is hella fluffy. I haven't even tried the fine disc yet since I bought my GR8TR on 420, the coarse seems good to me. One day I'll try the fine though.

I only had the extra grinding plate unthread on me once, but it was pretty easy to diagnose because there was a gap between joints on the body when screwed together. One of the coolest things about the grinder (that I thought was hokey before I got it) is the storage container on top. It's great for storing bud/kief transfer tools that I always had to store separate from my grinders.

Where possible I remove any stem material & I tend to pick any I find out of my grind. FWIW I have never had any issues vaping stems but I avoid it if I can.

New to grinders question...

I have a 2piece Santa Cruz and seems to work ok. Does the job, but seems to be difficult to get the material out. How would a 3 piece or 4 piece be better, or do better. I have a ff2 and a pax2 and use them both regularly... Any suggestions?

My lhs has the Santa crus shredders so all options are available to me. Gr8tr and or the clipper both look cool but I'm interested in what they will do for me for my money. I don't mind spending a few extra bucks if I get something for it. Just FYI

Sorry I didn't go into more detail, but I was on mobile. I've reviewed the gr8tr in here previously, but the gist of it is that it's just a different (and I think better) design. The regular 4-pc Kannastor is just a 4-pc grinder that's not much different than any other 4-pc. I prefer the gr8tr because it gives a consistently fine grind every time with zero effort - no turning upside down for X number of turns, it's easy to load, and it doesn't really get gunked up. I used to have a bunch of grinders and now all I use is the gr8tr.
