In 1969, this was the herb preparation product of choice. It was ultra modern. all plastic and washable. Its biggest boast was that it
did not turn your weed into powder, but left it a good consistency.
Of course back in the 60's weed was not as carefully grown and marketed as it is now, so there were stems and seeds. Once in a while I still use the old mexican sativa we used to call "commersh", when times call for it!
This came in many colors, and was $4 (alot of $ back then). They were all over the USA, and after my coma, in 2004 I had difficulty preparing herb, and I had some "comersh", so I looked for a marygin in a headshop. "A What???" said the kid. Nobody had ever heard of one. I have searched the web, and written to the address on the advertisement, and the place is a dairy farm for the past 20 years. I live right in the city where this thing was invented, I should be able to track this old hippy down.
I was shocked... devastated. Damn, I felt old! Wasn't it 1969 just a few weeks ago?
Marygin is gone, and I can't even find one on ebay!
This is the only image I can find, which also shocked me. (Christ... where's my walker?)
This tool is not functional for the kick-ass sticky bud of today, thats for sure, since it is more of a sifter/separator than grinder (you do have to manhandle your herb first). I obviously would not be use this tool on the weed I get now.
I use 3 different types of Space Case.. and do not NEED a Marygin... but, I want one. If any of your Grandpa's or Daddy's have one of these, I would like to buy it---> email me!
