Herb Grinders

Like JeffP said you can get a 2 piece grinder for around $20, then you could get a Kief/Pollen Shaker Box and the cost for both can be close to the SSV grinder and you would get way more kief from the Pollen Box in one day than weeks with the grinder.

im trying to eliminate separating the trichs from my herbs altogether

actually a 3pc is what im after, but im looking for one that has a substantial storage chamber. unfortunately it doesnt seem like any MFGs make one.

i did what cheifer suggested and removed the screen chamber portion of my 4pc sharpstone, making it a 3pc. works great except the storage area is much too shallow. working for now though.

i guess i could buy a space case scout 3pc and drill some holes in the bottom of the grinding chamber. i dont really wanna have to modify anything though...

Its strange that what your looking for is not easily found. I would think that option would be no brainer.

I would email the reps/companies and see if they are any help. For whats its worth I looked around in all my corners and could not really find what your looking for.

You could just cut the screen out like you said. But it might be hard to get all of it out. You wouldnt want pieces sticking out to get cut by. You could just get a Kannastor which are top quality grinders that just pop the screen out.

does anyone have one of these and if so, when the screen is removed does this cause a gap in the inside surface? could anyone post a pic perhaps?

they look like very nice grinders and i gotta say i do love my clear top on the sharpstone... good to see that kannastor offers this as well

*EDIT* after looking at these closer it appears that there is somewhat of a "feed ramp" if you will on the edges of the sifting chamber. to assist in keeping the herb on the screen. if the screen were removed this would leave a ledge or whatever that could be a pain when trying to pour the herb out of the storage chamber. BUT because of the snap ring that holds the screen in place, i could get a stainless steel or anodized aluminum sheet (circular of course) and stick that in their instead of the screen. this would give me a non porous bottom hence giving it a nice big storage chamber for ground herb and then the very bottom (kief chamber) could be used to store whatever will fit... more herb, hash, etc...

i think ima get the kannastor. thanks again cheifer for the recommendation! now where to find a 4pc clear top the cheapest...?

yeah i know what your sayin, but im looking for something thats good for home and on the go. one item not multiple things in my pockets to keep track of. just one piece.

It completely removes the screen im pretty sure on that. Even tho ive never seen it w/o it just my guess. You need a tool to get the screen out that they sell it on EDIT and 1percent. The nice thing about it for u is that if want to collect kief u can just pop the screen on and grind away. I strongly advise not getting the clear tops sense they wouldnt last as long vs. a metal top. But its all up to you I just hope i helped a bit. B/c finding a grinder right for ur needs is tough IMO. I finally figuered out the grinder im getting soon which is the 4pc small titanium space case.

That is what the Scout is: a 3 piece grinder with a storage container. It is just like a 2pc grinder but the bottom of the grinder is threaded underneath and is used as a lid for the storage container, so it is the lid and therefore should suit you perfectly.

And technically if you are on the go all the time you could just use any container and grinder by just grinding what you are going take with you and putting it in a container. Having a grinder with you is not even necessary because whatever you are going to take with you can be pre-ground, unless you are planning on grinding other peoples herb that you might come in contact with on your adventures.

yes i realize that the scout is essentially what im looking for, i was just hoping to find one with the gravity holes instead of having to grind it, unscrew it, dump herb, and screw it shut. just wanted to grind it and throw it in my pocket (if need be).

and grinding other people herb is also a concern. i also prefer to grind right before using as opposed to pre-grinding hours before hand.

of course none of this is a big deal and ill live either way, but i honestly thought this item would be available by somebody.

im still going to get another grinder and i just cant see paying those space case prices... especially the titanium models. i think im gonna go kannastor and see how i like it.

I carry a grinder, container, and weed on me and its a pain in the ass. The chromium crusher has no storage space so is see were clicker is coming from. And having to grind before u leave all the time would get annoying and when u run out u dont got a grinder to use

Yea i thought about that to but if it doesn't fit then your wasting around 100+ bucks. If money isnt a problem then go for it but he could get a Kannastor for around half the price.

It is not any quicker with the drop holes, even after it is ground it still takes several revolutions to get most of the herb in the lower chamber, so by the time you work all that ground bud into the bottom you could have just dumped it or not since it has a magnetic lid. I think you have a mixed picture in your head on how grinders work, you are imagining yourself grinding and throwing into the pocket but this can be done with any "Magnetic lid" grinder, storage area or not the lid is on pretty good and it doesn't make a difference if the herb is still in the grinding area.

This contradicts your original requirements, you said needed a large storage container for ground herb and now your saying that you prefer to grind right before using. There is no reason to have a large storage for ground herb if you are going to use what you grind immediately.

Keep in mind that the Kannastor is made in China by the same factory that makes Sharpstone. You may save $20 but you are paying a lot of money that cost nothing to make, where the Space Case is made in the USA. Also the Titanium is Ti Nitride (PLATED) not solid, and creates a hard durable finish similar to the finish on drill bits, I bought a Mendo Mulcher at the same time as my buds Space Case Ti, though my Mendo has held up nice, not nearly the finish as the Ti Space Case after almost 2 years.

If you do get the 4 pc don't base your choice on a removable screen, they just sit on the bottom and will not get in the way, the minuscule amount of pollen they collect can just be sprinkled on your bowl from time to time, it's not like it is taking away from your vape experience, the amount of pollen from one grind is so small you would not notice.

well have to agree to disagree that its quicker, but even still we are talking a matter of seconds if that so its not even a valid point to debate really. but there is no way im throwing a grinding chamber w/ 1g of ground herb directly into my pocket. ive dealt with many a grinder and the magnet lid isnt that great when the grinding chamber is full. if the herb was below in the storage chamber there would be almost no chance of it getting out. unless of course your grinder gets turned upside down, but this can be avoided.

unless of course im grinding a considerable amount for one session. that allows me to grind up a good amount and then just pour it into the bowl when needed. its that simple. thats what the need for a deeper storage area is. call it laziness its whatever.

Space cases dont have removable screens. And i didnt know Kannastors are made in China and there priced so high wtf? Thanks for the heads up stink i wont recomend it to ppl anymore.

I'm using a Sharpstone 2.25 cleartop with a kief collector and can't say I'm all that impressed. The holes are too big, the stainless steel is no match for the oily resin in my reefer, and I'd generally say it sucks! I wouldn't suggest you buy one.

that is exactly what ive got, but it came free with my DBV. and honestly it has exceeded my expectations as far as Sharpstone goes. i was expecting a horrible product from what ive read online, but aside from the screen it works pretty well.

anyway, i think i have found a grinder that may fit my needs. its an SSV after all, but not the powder coated joints. just the reg anodized pieces. they have a great 1.75" 4pc w/ removable screen. they also have a 5pc w/ removable screen/s. this would give you the option of different chamber combos especially if you used a solid piece/s instead of the screen/s. and they are only 30 bux. sure its not the quality of a space case, but im certain it will give me years of service with little maint. you can see them here:

Grinds so freaking well, I bought this one after using a mr coffee one and the new one blew it out of the water.


Also added perk to it is that angle that changes on the top of it. Do you see it there? Its almost like a window?

That collects kief compressed basically. And it collects a LOT. So if you want it all its right there for ya. Or just put it back in the bud. I just put it back cause the LB does wonders with the kief.

And its significantly quieter compared to others.. So it doesn't sound like your turning on a damn vacuum at midnight.

I like that coffee grinder it looks like a bullet and im sure its quite a show seeing it destroy bud. If i didnt like grinding with just a normal grinder i would buy one of these. Good find dude i love looking on amazon for stuff u can use for weed or pieces like cases and such.
