While I am still very happy with my second SCS purchase, I do have one gripe... the new models have the pollen collection chamber curved, which may be aesthetic but really makes collection much more difficult with the included triangle scrapper... perhaps a scraper that matched the curves of the collection chamber might be more helpful.
This concaving of lower chambers was a great feature on the three peice.....
However on the four peice....nuh uh.

If you want to avoid ezvapes, amazon has the GR8TR jar for $78. More money but more reliable. I have the version without the jar and it still seems to have enough room for storage for me. I put one strain in the top part and a different strain in the part under the grinder. I don't grind a lot at one time- just enough for several days. The kief ends up being a combo of different strains but that doesn't matter.

Apologies for stating the obvious here but have you tried cutting and/or sanding a guitar pick or any close enough piece of plastic (or even a small piece of wood to make the first wooden grinder bottom chamber scrapper ever!) to the curves of your grinder chamber?

Team NO SLEEP!
That is what I ended up having to do, BUT I shouldn't have to. And there is no way my hand cut guitar pick is going to work and fit as well as one that could have beem machined by SCS to fit perfectly and scrape cleanly...

Just picked up my Kannastor GR8TR (finally!)... decent sale, (92cdn -> $72USD) w/free shipping in Canada AND USA! Can't go wrong!

Also picked up the SLX 2.4" v2.0 4 piece for $71cdn!

Looking forward to the showdown and retiring the crank grinder that has served me well, but tired of the inconsistency when grinding small amounts....just too uneven.

Hoping these two will be the best of all worlds! And if not, that's what the Classifieds are for. I just had to buy something on 4/20 since my VAS/GAS is cured!

Where did you get your new stash from? If it's coming from US there might be handling and taxes added, they dinged me on my vape from the US. Congrats which version did you get the jar or the vape?

OOPS! Forgot to share the link with you fine folks! They are out of Canada so no suprises, and free shipping to N.A. so not sure about USA.

Went with the solid body!

http://zoneutopia.com/herb-grinders/2.2-kannastor-gr8tr-grinder/

And this just for fun to see what the hype is all about and maybe a different grind since I love having options for grind consistency!

http://zoneutopia.com/slx-grinders/...ramic-coated-grinders-v-2.0-4-parts-2.4-inch/

Kinda wanted the 2 piece as well, but my wife would have killed me! 2 four piece grinders at these prices were enough

I've gone from Sharpstone to SpaceCase to Coffee Grinder to SCS to crank to these! I think I won't regret it, especially since my usage patterns have decreased tremendously.

Copied this from the 420 deals thread in case y'all not reading that one:

25% off Kannastor, and includes free t-shirt (include size in order comments)

Just picked up a GR8TR full body ($67) and a classy little 14mm pollen press. The press has tolerances to 1/1000th of an inch and uses aluminum dowels so you can conduct heat to the puck while you press it. Should be a sweet pair!

@biohacker if 2 new grinders at the same time meet your reduced consumption needs I can only imagine how many you would have needed before the "reduction" haha.

The free shipping in Canada is nice, I was wondering how you qualified since the site requires $100 in purchases for free shipping but then I saw you bought another grinder. That's one way to get free shipping lol.

Let us know in exact detail all the benefits of each and which ones you are using.

I too am looking forward to the showdown as I have been tossing up on getting a GR8TR. The SLX is not perfect but it is a damm good grinder although it does still require cleaning. What colour did you get?

Looking for about a 2 inch 3 piece grinder (no kief catcher). Anybody have a line on any good 420 sales on SCS or SpaceCase? Is SLX the same as or better than those 2?

Get a Kannastor Vape GR8TR & relax knowing you have the best 3 piece going.

Thanks!

Every time I look at my storage puck I want to get a GR8TR. It just feels like superior quality. Does the puck interchange with the GR8TR?

So the Kannistor line grinds just as well as the other top tier grinders?
I have a 1.5" that I got years ago and it works great although it needs a lot of cleaning. I was hoping for something maybe more non-stick. But I have nothing else to compare it to - its the only one I have used.
I may go with the gr8tr though.

Why do you think i've used the coffee grinder and then a crank...I was putting 2 oz/month through! But the 2 grinders are mostly for novelty and to itch my curiosity...i've used a friend's GR8TR and know it's awesome, but I don't know if i'll like to keep changing the plates, because sometimes I prefer a fine grind and sometimes coarse (mostly coarse for my crafty/mighty and supreme), and just had to give the SLX a shot and see what the non stick was all about. My usage after my break has been .1g-.15g so far, although I know that will increase to about .25-.5g, so these grinders will be all i'll need, and i'm sure i'll sell the one I like and use the least. Some of these newer grinders hitting the market soon look very appealing too, and it's a cheaper hobby than VAS and GAS......may have to call this one GrAS? lol

I plan to!

All grinders require cleaning based on your usage patterns, including the Kannastor. I've read so many reports of people raving about the SCS, yet i've gummed it up well fairly quickly, and both 2 and 4 piece have quickly scratched, even though they aren't supposed to.

Went with the Silver! Maybe boring for some, but like my other coloured grinders in the past, I assume it would scratch and chip as well, and I like neutral colours (I only buy silver cars).

I put between 1-2oz a month through my SLX & have cleaned it twice since early January so it is not the end of the world by any means :). The only place the coating has "worn" is on the outside lip of the top & it is barely noticeable on the charcoal one let alone how it will appear on the silver one. I am pretty rough on mine & constantly overload it with bud but it chomps right through the biggest loads.

Maybe try using the GR8TR as your fine grind machine & the SLX for the medium grind? Best of both worlds that way

Yes man! That is the plan! And I can take an ISO bath once every couple of weeks no problem, so I think it will be okay. Like you, I USE my stuff, and knock the pieces together to get stuff out, so I can live with some dings and such.

Shouldn't be long before delivery as i'm not far. Haven't owned a "real" grinder in a while (SCS), so really excited for that uniform grind consistency. Just hope my wrists hold up, otherwise it will be back to the elusive search for the best quality crank again. Shame that Kannastor stopped making them, although I have found a local source that carries them. Just wish they screwed together like my present Zeus Vortex, as I fear "spin" with the Kannastor crank.

I gave away my $12 coffee grinder to a friend after I got my SLX & have a decent 4 piece as backup to that. The SLX is around 1/4 shorter than comparable 4 piece grinders due to the basket system. That means it is harder to generate the leverage to grind but I have only ever found it an issue if I chuck say 2g of nug in there. The Kannastor should be much taller so it will be easier on your wrists to grind most likely.

2g?! Wow! lol I don't think i'd ever grind more than .5g at a time, and more than likely .25g, hope that is enough for a successful grind? With my crank 4 piece, if I put in small amounts it's nearly sometimes useless.

I'm with you, I couldn't see myself needing to grind that much material at one time. I fit maybe 0.7g max in my small space case. Even with the small tray and heavy usage I'll barely manage to finish it all.

I really want to develop my chomp box for on demand shredding. I don't see the need to grind up all the bud you load at once. It wouldn't have any issues with minimum or maximum amounts of material. One nug will grind the same as a hopper full as the teeth only engage a small portion of the bud.

Have you guys heard of the Lift Innovations formerly known 'The Clipper' Grinder? It used blades to cut your herb instead of smashing it and grinding it. It's supposedly super easy to turn/cut your herb. So for people who have issues with their dexterity, I'd definitely check them out. They are up there in price but you can buy a three piece and eventually upgrade to a 4 piece!

I preordered mine should be coming in May! I'll report back, btw it is a 2.5in grinder, made of a high grade electroplated anodized aluminum, with the main compenents that touch your herb being stainless steel

I believe the bottom of the puck can be used in place of the herb chamber to grind right into the puck.

I am going to try placing the pucks lid on top of the herb chamber after grinding, as a hassle free way of transferring the grind to the puck without giving up the sifting screen and keif chamber.

I cannot speak for other Kannastor grinders, the GR8TR is the first Kannastor product I have bought. But for grind consistency and easy cleanup this is the best grinder I have used.

The GR8TR has no problem turning tiny nugs into piles of fluffy goodness, especially if the material is well cured. With my SCS it needed to be at least half full and upside down to get the same result.

I have one coming as well. I just hope that I think its worth the premium over the cheap chinese grinders that I have now (which work fine imo). But after seeing that Sasha had one, I had to have one too. Because I wanna be cool like her.
