The 4 piece has a screen to sift keif and a 3rd chamber where keif will collect while the 3 piece does not.edit: whats the dif between the 3 piece and the 4 piece (apart from being triple the price)
Dat precision...
Thank you!

I thought so just judging from the picture, but thanks for reassuring mei could be wrong, but i think the 4 piece has a regular bottom with an edge, the 3 piece has a curved bottom.
and to state the obvious, the kief catcher. it might come with a pollen press depending on what you order.
Agreed.d of disappointing how all these sites have them listed inconsistently.
So I was looking at the SCS, more precisely (and after discussing it with @Caligula) at the 3 pieces one which has now 2 more colors by the way
and then I realized that the lid of this grinder goes inside the medium part and not around it. This goes for their other grinders as well apparently.
This means an extra surface for some sort of ground deposit no? And also prevents the use of those grinders lubricant or am I missing something?
For some reason I'm still interested by this grinder though (probably because so many FC'ers like it) and hope it'll beat the space case in the current Mass drop poll.
Funny enough in the end, I got a Puffitup 4 part aluminum grinder because I ordered an Indica on puffitup. Should be coming in the mail soon.
You are correct. This is the only part of the scs design that leaves me scratching my head. I have grinders that have the male side on the lower piece (sc, 7th floor snuff shredder and others) and grinders with the male side on the lid piece (scs and xxl sharp stone). IMO having the male side of the grinder on the lower piece (like the sc) is a better design for keeping pieces of bud out of the rim to avoid sticky rims but anodizing also helps keep the rims clean. The absolute best grinder that I have found to date for amount of bud it can grind before the rims are too gummed to use is the 7th floor snuff shredder. It's basically the same design as the sc but the machining is much cleaner on the snuff shredder leaving less nooks and crannys for particles to get lodged. The grind consistency from the scs is the best tho so it's my go to grinder.
You can use grinder grease on the scs. While the rims are clean put a small amount on the rim of the top piece of the grinder, put the pieces together and give it a few turns to lube up all the surfaces.
I did the same thing to my red 4 pc, I only use a 2pc now, but it was a big loss with my Alex at the same time. These pics are with my late Alexander James, we miss him so, and the red SCS, may they both . . .I am getting a bit frustrated with my SCS after having a big drop the other day. Threw off the smooth action, and the threads keep misaligning when I put it back together... I may have to designate this one for travel use and buy a second one in a few paychecks.
Uploaded a small album of SCS 3 piece gun metal pictures: http://imgur.com/a/3weae
Here's a mini-review,
-Great build quality
-Nice and light weight
-Small size makes loading on the female top lid difficult (have to clear out center before grinding)
-Would do black color next time. Gun metal in my warm lighting ends up looking gold
Overall a nice grinder but not quite what I'm looking for in terms of ease of use. I did end up buying this cheap nut chopper in my continuing quest for grinders.
I'm trying to picture what your issue is with the center section is. What's going on there that you don't like exactly? Shouldn't the herb just fall through into the bottom section for collection?
Yea I meant on the 3 piece. So other than that aspect you don't have any issues with it?
3 piece SCS owner here, I noticed this problem on my 2nd grind. The sides gumming up -- I heard the squeaking. Was quite surprised it happened that fast. Granted it's a smaller grinder than I'm used to so user error may have been involved.
I also wish the male part were on the top lid for upside down grinding for vaping. I always load it on the lid, and it's really annoying to have to sweep away the stuff in the middle. Great build quality though, just some minor things that for my uses don't make it ideal (tho really I haven't been using too much flower after getting hyped on oils).
