Multi-brand HEALTHY RIPS FURY

Tokin' Away Since 1968
After an early family and friends holiday dinner, I came home...to celebrate 4/20! I had a six pack of the fabulous Stone Brewing Enjoy By 4/20/19, a 9.2%abv dank dank dank IPA. On Thursday I had visited an especially kind licensed medical MJ dealer in the next state, and got some nice fresh Girl Scout Cookies, Green Crack, and LSD(not LSD). I own seven vapes, or well over a dozen if you count the several Vap Caps(including a StarDustSailor custom) and two CFs, including high end Firefly 2 and Crafty. So what did I use for the celebration? My Fury2 with the wpa and the little Sneaky Pete's water globe. Great fun. Old lungs feelin' fine. And me very well baked! Love this little guy.

And out of curiosity, I ordered the new POV mouthpiece and new dosing caps.

I didn't get the POTV wpa. Will my old HR one work, or do I need the POTV one to work with their new mouthpiece?

When you said "New mouthpiece" did you mean the "POTV Accessory Attachment"? The POTV Accessory Attachment differs from the "standard mouthpiece". The "standard mouthpiece" doesn't have an opening you could put a glass piece into while the "POTV Accessory Attachment" has an opening that allows for putting the new POTV glass pieces, like the POTV WPA into it.

To use the HR WPA you must remove the standard mouthpiece and place the WPA directly in the HR oven. To use the POTV WPA you attach the "POTV Accessory Attachment" and insert the POTV WPA into the accessory attachment.

The WPA difference...... is that HR WPA is placed directly in the oven and takes up space in the oven which limits the amount of herb that can be used. The POTV WPA sits in the "POTV Accessory Attachment" on top of the oven but not in the oven.

I don't know if the HR WPA will fit in the "POTV Accessory Attachment" but I do know the HR WPA will work in both the HR and POTV vape if you don't use the POTV Accessory Attachment or standard mouthpiece and place it directly in the oven.

Can you try and put the HR WPA in the POTV accessory attachment and let us know if it works?

I'll tell you what looks interesting is that oil/rosin adapter that's with it.

Anyone know about that? I would love to use my Fury2 for rosin.
I have a couple but unfortunately no rosin. I think it can be ordered. If the price of the thing is 70 mind it could also be a clone of the Fury 1.

Okay, I just used the POTV One Accessory Attachment on my Fury 1 with the included glassware.

Just to be clear given some comments, the advantage to me is that I can use glassware without having to remove it while it is hot. Healthy Rips confirmed that leaving the glassware inserted into the chamber was bad for the Fury and would distort the chamber. This is because the chamber swells with heat and shrinks with cooling.

Second problem with the Fury and glassware is thus that the glassware gets stuck in the Fury if not removed while hot. This produces three big user problems: 1) If the herb is good, the user forgets to remove it, 2) if the user removes the glassware, it is hot and the user will often burn themselves, and 3) if the user forgets, then in order to reload with more herb, the user must heat up the Fury AND the glassware, causing the glassware to be hot at the exact time they want to reload the vape - so more burns, or else sitting around waiting for the glassware to cool AND using up an additional cycle of the battery.

I posted all this in this thread, requesting an Accessory Attachment for Fury just like the Fierce Accessory Attachment - which solves all these problems for the Fierce. No reply from HR. Marketing people always love better features for the more expensive product.

So, when I saw POTV had created a Fury Accessory Attachment, I ordered one on the first day, and it arrived today.

First impression - the included short straight glassware seems to do the job adequately. I ran two cycles at 430 F (max temp) one right after the other. (This would make a Fury with the standard Fury mouthpiece quite hot to the touch, and during the second cycle, even the mouth end of the standard mouthpiece gets hot to the lips.) With the Accessory Attachment and included glassware, everything is cooler even after two max temp cycles.

So, for me, no hot mouthpiece, and no need to remove a hot piece of glass or try to fill the end of a narrow piece of glass with little bits of herb. So, BIG plus on all that, especially for $15.

I also ordered the Curved Glassware. Unfortunately, it is barely longer than the included glassware. But given the above, it might be long enough for cooling. It's not long enough to allow you to see the display right side up (which is why all the recent Fury's and the One allow flipping the display in software). Besides being curved, which creates a more convenient position (many famous vapes include built-in mouthpieces pointed towards the user), it is also opaque and black, so that people also have a style option. It does look more 007 with the curved black glassware.

The one disadvantage of the Accessory Attachment is that it entirely covers up the Green and Red lights. I was not expecting this. So, when used with a Fury, there are no lights and no "haptic feedback". I much prefer the Red and Green lights - but - I WAY prefer the Accessory Attachment to not having it.

So, I will wait to see if HR's noises about a "Fury 3" might include a Fury Accessory Attachment that allows the lights to be seen. (I have two Fury 1s, so another Accessory Attachment would be fine.)

FYI - POTV Accessory glassware is roughly 0.35 inch ID and 0.97 inch OD. If that matches some pre-existing glassware that can be used with 430 degrees F, that would be interesting information.

UPDATE: I tried the curved glassware and the vape is at a more convenient angle, sticking out the side. You can then turn it over the vape for more compact storage after using.

Second impression - the larger diameter of the Accessory Attachment glassware vs the smaller diameter of the HR Fury glassware is evident in an even easier draw, and more "clouds" (first time I've ever used that term :) ). Two consecutive cycles got the unit somewhat hot, but the vapor was only pleasantly warm, and the same for the tip of the glassware.

Great post & info. I used my WPA natively last night sans any filtration with my F2, which is fairly new for me. I understand you can’t insert it into the chamber when cool (it don’t fit) but does fit when heated up. So you’re not supposed to insert it all the way even when heated? That doesn’t make sense to leave it partially inserted. I understand taking it out, carefully from the top to avoid burning oneself, between draws if desired but I’d think you can leave it fully inserted for the duration of the session - and remove it finally when it’s turned off before cooling - however the herb may cook just a bit when sitting in the chamber.

Or am I misinterpretting what you said? I have an F2 and Fury clone, love them both and they’re amazing with the standard mouthpiece, and now I’m venturing into WPA and glass, albeit slowly. I really enjoy the WPA/glass taste AND effects as I use a slightly higher temp with the WPA. And I’m likely buying my first glass rig this week. :peace:

I generally use WPA when the vape is cold or hot... it fits in with a push if cold. my first fury2 I cleaned the chamber with isopropyl and touched the silicone ring at the top of the chamber and that shrunk the silicone some... the WPA was loose thereafter and I had to keep a hand on it while I used it so it would not fall out.
Be careful cleaning and do not touch the silicone with iso ...
I load WPA and hold it upright with herb on top. I then turn vape upside down and set it on the WPA until it completely seats all the way down into bottom and bottoms out... if you do not apply it all the way to the screen there could be loose pieces that come out of wpa and gets stuck between wpa and chamber screen and become hardened.

Just an FYI regarding the bent glass mouthpiece and leaving it in the oven......

I have almost never used the stock mouthpiece. It sits in a drawer. My Fury2 never leaves home. The bent glass mouthpiece never leaves the oven except to fill and empty.

First thing every morning, I pull the glass mouthpiece from the cold oven by slightly twisting it and pulling at the same time. It pops out with total ease. No stress on the glass. It comes out quite easily (I have probably already 'stretched' the oven out).

I fill it and re-insert it. Sometimes I will turn the Fury2 on after removing the mouthpiece and other times I forget and turn it on after I fill the glass mouthpiece and stick it in. Again, to insert, I twist slightly while turning. The stem is NEVER hot when I fill it. No burnt fingers.

After the bowl, I remove the mouthpiece and blow out the ABV. Then, I stick it back into the oven where it sits until the next bowl. I don't usually do bowls back to back so it has plenty of time to cool down before I do my next bowl. If I do have the urge to do a quick second bowl, I'll often grab the VapCap or one of the other vapes sitting next to me and use that while the Fury2 cools down.

I have been doing it this way for a year since I bought it. I use it EVERY day. I admit, it's a bit more loose than it was when it was new but.... what isn't?

I know HR does not suggest doing this. However, I have been doing it EVERY DAY for almost a year and I don't see any problem at all. My Fury2 is my first vape of the day every day. I like the draw so I use it for the first few bowls and the first couple cups of coffee and then I switch to the Solo.

I'm not sure why HR does not recommend doing this but I have been doing it for a year and I don't have any problems. I wonder, what problems does @HealthyRips.com suggest that this might cause? I'll try to watch for it.

Your mileage may vary. This program works great for me.

I thought I read somewhere, either here or on the Fierce thread, that the chamber should be hot when inserting or removing the stems. I could push it in when cold but afraid to break the bottom of the stem - or ‘stretch’ the chamber walls. But do we all agree the stems should be fully inserted? This is my question to someone’s post above.

Also, I checked out the POTV Fury accessory attachment - this simple glass stem sits above what I believe is the standard o-ring/screen, which is kinda cool and different than the HR stems that get inserted into the chamber.

Just broadening my vaping horizons, with glass, as I’m now gravitating toward glass. And everyone herein has been very helpful in many regards. Cheers. :peace:

I started to buy one of the POTV mouthpieces but I don't like to fill the oven. I like the way HR's stems fill the stem, not the oven. I imagine the oven gets dirty fast using it for herb. And, how do you get it out? Blow in the air intake? That's going to be hot on the lips. Dig it out with a digger? Sounds like a pain in the ass. I like the way a glass stem clears the ABV so easily with a short puff.

. . . I imagine the oven gets dirty fast using it for herb. . . .

I usually just fill the oven – using the glass stem only rarely – and it still looks pretty much brand new after about 3 weeks of daily usage. It looks slightly – very slightly – darker (if at all).

. . . And, how do you get it out?

Invert unit, tap on bottom. You're done.

I find that the oven clears much more easily than the glass stem. The glass stem seems to often result in a kind of clear, sticky resin which acts like a glue to the bit of herbal particulate that gathers around the air passage holes and throughout the first inch or so of the main section of the tube.

Curiously, this bit of resinous substance does not appear when directly loading the oven, hence the spent flower tumbles out with little persuasion.

I too prefer filling the chamber than the stem. I think it’s a bit easier. Oven doesn’t get that dirty and I regularly brush it out upside down - with a wide interdental brush (which can be replaced after months of usage & purchased in packs at the pharmacy). It’s easier on the go to dump herb in the oven than filling a stem. Of course the dosing capsule are the penultimate on the go solution and i keep a few filled for spontaneous outings. Fine grind and stems don’t coexist well I find. I’m trying to grind more coarsely for this reason too - so I can load up a stem more readily and easily on occasion.

Fortunately, there are several methods and people gravitate toward them for their own situation. I’m still learning too, especially with glass and I’m enjoying the taste more with glass than the standard MP - at home. That’s the positive however loading stems is not my favorite. The standard MP is way too easy and a no-brainer for travel and on the go.

The POTV accessory attachment is indeed intriguing in that it’s glass and I don’t have to load the stem. Almost too perfect - and I think I’m ordering one later :). I hope it fits on my Snap though given the molding issue I believe it has... :peace:

I use a incense stick left ( the little 2 inch part in the center) over and peel away the edge so it is like a needle... use it to clean out glass screen holes in wpa after use if it is sticky and in need of cleaning... after i clean it the sticking is not an issue for a while and herb pops rights out... if wpa is sticky herb will fill into the glass screen holes more during a session . for surface area I grind amap so that too leads to clogged airways sometimes while drawing on it

@Vaporific I used to use a container and dip the stem and and rotate to fill it... that is a solid load with heavy vapor , now I loose fill and found it works way better for efficiency and better air flow with added oxygen in there

Toothpicks are part of my arsenal as well for poking, scraping, cleaning, etc.

If the material is too fine, some of it falls out of the stem into the oven. That had been my initial experience with the HR stems. I’m trying not to grind too fine for this reason. I just got some new varieties and didn’t grind at all and just broke it apart by hand to facilitate using the stems. Indeed I need some new storage options as I have been using small dram vials but they’re not wide mouth so I can’t get the stem inside to dip and load them, though they’re super easy with medium-to-fine grind and just pouring directly into the chamber. That has been my prime method for several years since it works with several vapes but with stems it’s a different ball game. All good though! And my Furies behave very well regardless (except my balky Snap molding where the MP won’t stay on but the heating works just fine; my F2 is flawless).:peace:

Next time you're getting your nails done, check out what the manicurist is using:

Kind of a toothpick on steroids, with one end 'flatted off', just the ticket for digging ABV and other junk out of the works. I still use toothpicks some, but these guys are the 'go to tool' IMO. (Almost) never break.

Well, since some of you have a pretty strong story, I may go ahead and order one and check it out. I definitely like the stem being bigger. For 15 bux, you can't go wrong.

Thanks
The ONE accessory mouthpiece (for glass) has a solid black plastic back, which will cover the red/green indicator lights on the Fury. Just something to be aware of. Should still work but you won’t have those indicators.

That's funny... I never even noticed them until now. What do they do? Apparently, I won't miss them. LOL Thanks for the tip, though.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
I use glass adapters exclusively on my F2, with the exception of the occasional trip to the beach or some public place. Each piece fits differently in the heater. The bubbler pops in no matter what the temp and will spin around loosely but won't come out unless you pull on it. The wpa fits snug when everything is cold but not so tight that the heater would be damaged. The bent stem won't fit when cold and I worry to use it in case I forget to remove it. I use the wpa the most.

The Fury became so easy to keep clean when I started using concentrates wrapped in cotton instead of herb. That combined with using the glass attachments keeps everything so clean that I rarely do more than wipe the chambers with a dry q-tip when warm.

If your worried about burning your hand on the glass when re-loading, just blow through the mouth end for a few seconds and the air from your breath will cool the glass down quickly for easy handling.

It's not a worry in advance, it is simply absent mindedly touching the hot glass because of the counter-intuitive nature of a piece of glass that needs to be filled, being hot. This is something that is more likely to happen after the first bowl of herb. :)

The whole Arizer-stem method is a little too fiddly - reminscent of the 12-inch vinyl that needs to be cleaned before playing, etc. etc. With the Arizer-stem method, I have to bring two things to the couch every time - the vape, and then a holder with the upside-down stem (which neither HR not POTV offer, and which has to be a kludge for a bent stem anyway) with the herb.

The POTV Accessory Attachment allows me to load the vape with verb and then put on the mouthpiece with glassware already inserted. It would be nice if POTV offered longer bent glassware but it may not be strictly necessary.

Besides the oven capacity, I am curious if there is a difference in vapor Clouds and Taste when the glass stem is in the Fury oven (HR stems) vs. above the oven (POTV Stems). It also might take a few seconds longer to heat soak on first hit?
Anyone who can compare, please let us know if you notice any differences. Thx!
