Totally understandable Scott! Moves are time consuming beasts.

I clean my Haze regularly, probably 2-3 times a week. I vape mostly herb but have occasionally done a herb/oil combo vape. The problem is resin gets under the plastic where the switch slides to determines which bowl youre using. Theres no obvious way to clean out under that sliding switch. Im afraid to use ISO as it can deteriorate the paint on the unit, so I was looking for a safer cleaning method. I did use a cotton swath with a very light amount of ISO to remove some of the gumminess and that has helped but the use of ISO is a bit risky to the aesthetics of the unit. Im thinking maybe using a few drops of mineral oil in the switch area, working the switch back and forth for a few times and then wiping the residue out may help. I may give that a shot.

The strange thing is when turned upside down with the switch thrown (to either chamber) there's no resin underneath at all. There are however grooves cut into the plastic where it's rubbed against the main body of the Haze. When cleaning it some grey powder came off so I'm thinking it's just scraping off plastic each time the switch is thrown. After wiping more of the powder off the switch seems easier to throw. Now that I know it's a tight fit causing the resistance (and not resin in my case at least) I'll just keep an eye on that area and carry on. Thx for the cleaning tips Scott. I've been using pipe cleaners (cut down to one inch pieces) dipped in ISO to clean the holes leading to the mouthpiece slot. Works like a charm.

Oh. My. I just got my Haze, which will be my first vaporizer. I read all kinds of reviews before choosing.

I knew the Solo was in a better pricepoint, but seemed bulky.
I considered the Firefly because the taste was reported to be good.
Crafty and Mighty are beyond my means.
I did not like the sounds of cleaning the Pax.

And I really do not cotton to integrated batteries - it is why my first mp3 player was NOT "fruit flavored." If a battery dies, I do NOT want to lose the whole unit.

Then there was the Haze - attractive, replaceable batteries, dual bowls, could handle flower or concentrates, and the flavor was reportedly good. Not that I really understood what that meant, having never vaped before.

The thing that tipped me waaaay over the edge was the upgrade program. Another vape promised to donate to NORML (good cause) but the fact that for so little money, I could keep upgrading my system AND knowing my old unit would benefit someone in need...that is MY kind of company.

I read up on this thread (got through page 51 before I had to stop and ffwd with the "best of...") in preparation for the arrival of my new unit. What a great thread. I know what to look for in the battery doors, and how to clean, and the temp settings...basically all the stuff I would ordinarily have to find out on my own, usually resulting in my frustrated, impatient application of brute force virtually guaranteed to break something. So, I thank you all!

I bought at vaporizer usa (free car charger), and my Gremlin arrived tonight! While waiting for the batteries, I did an iso bath and ground some more herb (blueberry and golden goat -the goat is for sat daytime).

I could not wait for the charge, I took a partially charged battery out and fit it into the device. My battery case is finicky, kept popping open. Probably me not knowing how to fasten it properly. Well, undaunted, I wanted to do a quick burn off (as recommended somewhere in the first 50 pages...) so I just held it closed. I old not wait to try it, so the burn off was short (no bad smells off my Gremlin, he was ready to roar!).

I loaded a convection screen with the blueberry and the case with golden goat. I have been looking forward to experiencing the taste of my blueberry all day! I set it to 2 to start and took a small pull (see first 50 pages). Oh. My. How very delicious! Have I been missing THIS all this time? The flavor is still on my tongue, tickling my taste buds and bringing back the erotic feel of that first vape hit. Sigh.

Since I understood that the sleepy cannabinoids are better released at higher temps, I popped it up to 3. A couple more puffs. Then to 4. Another little pull. Wow. Just pure and beautiful.

Then again, maybe I am just delightfully, blissfully, and sweetly high...

Incidentally, at 2am when I woke up again (I have real trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep, hence the blueberry) I broke out the vape and realized my problem with the battery cover - I was not sliding it all the way out. It was really stiff, so I thought I got it and did not want to break it. Not sliding it all the way out prevented me from being able to fully engage the teeth/latch. In case that helps anyone else.
BTW I do not know if all the boxes are packaged the same but I did not even have to search for the warning label about the plastic battery covers - it was neatly tucked in over the top of them so I could not miss it. Nice job, Haze!
vaporizerusa did not do a great job packing the box for shipping - movement within the packing box is a major cause of damage in shipping. My haze seems perfectly fine, probably due to it being well packed in its own packaging as well as luck.
My second round using the convection screen and just using the same herb as earlier (using 3 & then 4) was still tasty and smooth.
if you are a novice to vaporizing, I can attest that this is a great first vaporizer to buy, although it helps to read through this forum to familiarize yourself with the individual quirks of the device before it arrives.
Also- I have small hands (but not narrow) and this device is comfortable to hold. It can be hard to tell from photos, but while it isn't as stealthy as a pen, it is not especially bulky either.

Jordan from Haze says that their factory messed up and manufactured a bunch of "alloy" cans instead of the standard stainless steel cans, and that she would send me out some SS replacements. She also said that the SS cans have not changed and they are not switching to alloy cans.

So if you got some of those ally cans, it was a mistake, and Haze will replace them with SS cans.

Sorry, still having trouble finding myself around forum. I purchased 6 extra cans, how do I know I didn't get the alloy cans? I do NOT want alloy. The SS cans was one of the reasons I bought the Haze.

If you look through the thread, there are pictures of the ss cans and alloy cans side by side. The visual difference between the two is fairly clear. Also, the ss cans are made of stronger stuff. You can not easily bend the tab on the ss cans but you can on the alloy cans. Im pretty sure Haze has isolated and removed all the alloy cans from their distribution chain so alloy cans should be a thing of the past. If your purchase is recent I doubt very much you received alloy.

The only way to get the alloy would be from another vendor who is clearing out old stock. That said these alloy cans were limited in release. I had one as a beta tester and my feedback was that I preferred the SS. I'll ask but I don't think they made a ton and not sure if they would have gone to any other distributor than VaporizerUSA.

@CG420 - You might want to say "aluminum" when contacting Haze instead of "alloy" since "alloy" does not mean aluminum (please see 2nd half of post 2444). The original cans many of us know and trust and want are "stainless steel alloy". Stainless steel is always an alloy; usually an alloy of iron, carbon, nickel, chromium, sometimes cobalt and other things.

MM's how to distinguish stainless steel alloy VS aluminum alloy cans:

In order to save you shipping expense 2 ways on cans that may be SS and just fine - -

If you or someone you know has a small electronic scale, it's as easy as .65g vs .37g without lids. .37 is aluminum alloy; .65 is the desired stainless steel alloy.

Bright silver in coloration is aluminum; any gold-ish tinge on the base silver-ish color is SS. This pic illustrates direct comparison. Stainless steel alloy cans are on left; aluminum alloy cans are on right. Note that the stainless steel alloy has a much sharper bend on the tabs. The below are UNUSED cans that are new and cleaned by me just one time in iso.

FWIW, both types of cans FEEL light. Not sure I could personally feel the difference of 1/3 gram except maybe/possibly in direct comparison. However, the aluminum cans WEIGH much lighter. Also, there is one report that the tabs will break off the aluminum cans in only 1 or 2 gentle uses.

edit: Was just cleaning my trainwreck of a house. Found 2 more two packs of Haze cans - both packages never opened. Straight out of the package and without direct comparison with aluminum, I'd have sworn both pairs were aluminum because all were so bright silver before first wash. However, they were not aluminum. All 4 weigh in as stainless steel. :tup: Appearances can be deceiving.

To save your time and Haze's: I definitely recommend weighing cans before attempting swap. fwiw

After about a month of use, figured I'd add more than my prior review. I've come around on a few points and like it more than ever.

I changed how I open the door and now it doesn't feel as stiff. Maybe I just loosened it up a little bit, but I'm totally happy with the action. I'm no longer dissatisfied with the battery door now that I've figured out the best way to close it too.

Also, definitely warming up to setting two despite my first inclination. You really need to let it heat up past the point that it stops blinking on all the settings, in my opinion. I suspect that I'll start to like setting one the longer I go without combustion.

Cause fuck combustion. I geeked out with the haze exclusively since it was a new, shiney toy and by the time I tried combusting a week later it already tasted like licking an ash tray. In only a month, the Haze has me 100% converted.

I also had a minor issue with one of my accessories, and it was quickly resolved by excellent customer service.

It is really hard to tell. The sides look like the pipe and the bottom of the can look like aluminum foil. I've shown my husband and he can't make his mind up either. That tabs look like the SS tabs on the pictures. That being said, I certainly hope they cans are the SS as we smoke the herb using the cans. I have Alzheimers on both sides of my family and REALLY stay away from aluminum.

At last the mystery solved, thank you so much for hanging in there with me. I struggle to bend the tabs so they must be the SS. Thank you again for clarifying this for me.

BTW we love love the Haze. Tastes wonderful!!! We just joined the pay it forward.

Excellent, I'm pretty confident they are the SS.

Boss also said he can't say for sure but it's unlikely VN still has those cans for sale now anyway (if they ever had them).

Glad you love it like I do. And yes the pay-it-forward program is awesome! It makes me very proud to work for a company who has such a charitable heart and cleverly made it a win with their loyal customers in the process.

So I received my Haze back from being fixed last Friday. I don't really like how they are sent back in a cardboard envelope with a layer of bubble wrap around the unit. When I opened the beaten up envelope I was expecting to see a broken Haze but to my surprise it was ok. Moving on the unit looked brand new. Before I sent it in it was looking worn. What I mean is the painted circles and Haze logo were fading. BUT WOW NOW IT LOOKS LIKE IT CAME RIGHT OUT THE BOX. Plus they replaced parts I wasn't even expecting to be replaced. I just want to say BRAVO HAZE. Your customer service woman (Amy) is a knowledgeable and very friendly person. All my questions and concerns were met with real answers. Not many businesses strive to keep customers happy like Haze has. I admit I'm not an easy person to please but Haze has so far made me very happy. I buy a lot of products and many companies dont back there merchandise up remotely like Haze does. I just want to say Thank you to Amy and the rest of the Haze team. Have a great day and Haze on!!

By the way, my switch always seemed a little stiff, but it didn't stop being stiff until it broke! Now that it's repaired it's back to normal stiffness. Both my units feel similar. So I think that's normal.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but on the Haze site there is a "hidden discount" currently available for several products as "add-ons" to the regular "Cans 2-Pack" - they all show up when you look at the details for the cans. I looked around and couldn't fine these discounts on any other product page - just the cans 2-pack.

So...when I ordered another 2-pack, I also picked up a pair of XL batteries for $25.99 vs $29.99. There is also a small discount available for a screen 5-pk ($8.99 vs $10.99), and the glass and SS mouthpieces ($10.99 and $14.99 vs $11.99 and $15.99)

All one needs to do is order the cans and add-on the other items on the product page itself - they will show up as the can 2-pk w/ options in the cart. If you order the cans and then add these other items separately, the discounts are not applied.

Ok...let's fire up that Haze :cool:
