Grasshopper "Deep Clean" technique

lazylathe

Almost there...
My Hopper has worked pretty flawlessly since the day it arrived.
There have been a few issues here and there but nothing to warrant an RMA yet!
I contribute this fact to my new cleaning regime!

Today was "DEEP CLEAN" of the Hopper!
It has been on the verge of giving me some slight issues again...
Sometimes no vapor on the first click and then second click BOOM instant vapor, sometimes quick cop lights and then to red or blue again... No real rhyme or reason...And nothing to quantify what my lights mean.

What i have been doing is just using my Hopper as i would a normal vape, as in charge, load and vape and swab out chamber. What is recommended...Unfortunately this "normal" vaping routine may not be beneficial to your Hopper!

What i have NOT been doing is my newly discovered cleaning routine!
Unfortunately this new routine takes some time, usually about 30 minutes or so depending on batteries etc...

My routine:
Set hopper on charge overnight as well as any spare batteries should be charged and ready to go.
Next morning assemble Hopper with an EMPTY oven and set on temp 5.
Use a WATER TOOL, this is very important as it gives you extra suction power!!
Once temp is reached, gently inhale for as long as you can. A nice gentle stream of bubbles.
Click off Hopper and exhale into a light.
Continue doing this until NO MORE vapor can be seen on an exhale.
I will usually go through at least 3 batteries till i get no more vapor.

After this "Deep Clean" my Hopper performs like a BEAST, just like it was new!

Where does this vapor come from??? It must be those disgusting contacts that seem to accumulate gunk just under the internal screen!

I urge anyone with a Hopper to try this and report back if it improves performance!
After my cleaning cycle all light issues go away and only return again after heavy use and no Deep Clean.

Almost there...
Thought i would do a quick video of the exhale i get on an EMPTY chamber!
This Hopper was deep Cleaned yesterday and used for 2 bowls only!

This was the 3rd exhale... Decided to record it since no one seems to be interested to try it!
Where does all this vapor come from on an EMPTY oven???

duff

Well worn
I always do the empty bowl hit native and usually get a cloud or two.
I'll have to try this.

duff,

IAmKrazy2

Darth Vapor
I do this for my regular cleaning, after a couple of days of use. But i consider ISO important to use too and get some nooks and crannies every week or two. GH's are only used for stealth portability for me and each unit sees around 10 bowls a week.

You're getting that much vapour with an empty chamber and a clean front end? Do you ISO soak your front ends? are you using lots of concentrates?

When doing this with a clean/fresh front end, mine produces no vapour.

glad to hear it's working out for you though :)

Everything is spotless before I start... it's the funky gunk that gets stuck just above the internal screen.
There are some pics of it in the Grasshopper thread.

I'm curious because mine don't do this, they've both been repaired recently but have had more than enough use for this to work. Maybe there's been a design change with the oven screen that causes this.
I should point out I don't swab the chamber anymore I just use a brush occasionally, but always remove the screen when I clean the mouthpiece.

How are you removing the MP screen?

I think it's been posted in the GH thread before but just warm the mouthpiece or soak in ISO then use a set of fine pointed tweezers to unscrew. If you can get the prongs in two of the three little notches it's easy. Lefty loosy righty tighty.

How do you find it goes getting the screen back in? Nice and easy or makes you curse !
