Puffers are really fun! While at a research station in the Bahamas one summer, a colleague was doing feeding behavior studies with a small species. We had about fifty of them in individual little tanks and they all had to be hand fed at regular intervals round the clock. So everyone on the island pitched in and learned how to feed them brine shrimp with tweezers and record whatever we were supposed to in the log.

They are really adorable and silly and really fun: seemingly intelligent for a fish.

Maybe it was the extendeded isolation on a remote island, but I felt a few of them became my friends that summer.
