Got my all glass bowl in and I am really happy with it. Also what are we calling it? I've been going with all glass bowl in my head.
I'll get my one negative out of the way, stuff falls through the glass mesh. I hand tear so it isn't too much of an issue for me, I just needed to get the sizing right. So far I've been using it with a basket screen on the bottom while I check it out. On my last hit I just pop it out and put whatever fell through back in, works really well.
I forgot what temp people said they were using it at so I started at 950 (1st gen heater). For me it was too high, but there was no charring or bad taste or anything. Just a lot of extraction. Also I totally agree with slowing up on the draw, but it's not that there's a lot more draw resistance. The harder you pull the more the flower starts shrinking, turning into a puck and adding more resistance. It went from pretty open to milkshake through a straw when I pulled on it like it was the funnel or stadium bowl. In a weird way it reminds me of a non newtonian fluid or kinetic sand or whatever, the harder/faster you try the go the more it resists. If you go nice and slow you don't even notice resistance though.
I tried again at 900 (1st gen heater) and it was much better but still too high. I settled in around 850 and was much happier with the taste. I'm still going lower and figuring out exactly what temp I like this bowl at. Still seeing if I like packing it or not, it seems to happen naturally as you inhale though.
Taste is great. I was enjoying it so much I started getting my other stuff out to taste. About 3 or 4 hits for extraction, it depends on how dry it is and how big your chunks are though. I have been hand crushing what's left to throw in the funnel bowl and see what I get. I get vapor, but it's light popcorn tasting meh vapor. I feel like I already got what I wanted out of it with the all glass bowl.
This will be a good micro-dosing bowl, even more so than the funnel bowl. If you still wanted to fine grind you could put a fine mesh screen over the glass and it's like a smaller funnel bowl.
One weird thing was the high felt like it creeped up on me more, I'm going to have to see if I feel that way after using it again. Eventually I'll want to clean it, but it won't be because the screen is clogged. It's super easy to unblock the holes with something. I was using some really dry powdery flower towards the end.
