Sorry, but parts of this post are completely unfounded. Of course you may view it as you wish...and view Bud the way you wish but:
Which seems to me to be the way it is with any new and not yet released vape.
That is simply ridiculous....and a bit breathless, don't you think? I see you have been on the board a while....surly you have read discussions about high pitched electronic noise from PWM power management in a wide number of modern vapes...as in pretty much any vape that uses digital power management.
Uh, because he has an exclusive in return for putting effort into its requirements and testing, perhaps? Seems like a decent business practice to me.
I suggested that they need a beta test team because I agree with you that there is no substitute for real field operational testing by real users. But I note that a number of vapes do not use beta teams.
Well, you are entitled to whatever emotional state you wish to be in (i.e. I personally feel)
but your feelings don't equal facts and so far NONE of use have any facts upon which to make a rational determination as to whether this vape is great or "garbage"
Wow, I don't know how he could have been any more clear about his referral deal and his financial arrangements with Ghost. As far as I know, every reviewer in the vape world has a conflict of interest as every reviewer in the vape world that I am aware of has some sort of referral fee (or at the very least receive free product) or there wouldn't be any professional reviews. This ain't Siskel and Ebert paid by the networks. Yes, I would love for good professional reviews where the review gets their compensation completely unrelated to the reviewed product/company....but that does not exist today in our strange legal/illegal environment.
Yes, there is a lot of over the top hype here....and as usual, a lot of over the top pessimism and criticism.
Sorry, mate....but this was my honest reaction to your post.
Cheers
I agree that the relentless pessimism regarding the quality of the vape is unwarranted.
In my **opinion,** the cloud exhale video recently released by VC is actually super impressive.
I'll explain why...the clouds have the "blue," thin but POTENT quality that comes out of Herbalizers and a precious few other pure convection vaporizers.
The lotus comes to mind, as well...
These types of vapes are often too strong for me, as the pure convection high sticks around in my brain for HOURS after I last vaped.
But the clouds look very impressive to me...
That said, the concern regarding overpriced accessories and conflicts of interest are entirely warranted.
I'm sorry to say this, but I simply don't believe that VC has no financial stake in this product beyond the referral fees.
VaporizerWizard has referral links as well, and those make him some money--but remember that VC happily admitted to taking part in the R&D at Ghost that led to the MV-1, and his willingness to "buy back" vaporizers after 3 days makes it clear that he is acting, in this case, as a Ghost representative of sorts.
I would guess that he has a real stake in the company, or some type of salary related to his participation in the R&D and then marketing process. This is admittedly a guess, I have no special knowledge here.
But it's pretty damn obvious.
I'm probably less upset than others about his stake in the company and the blatant favoritism (he gave the MV-1 an A to A+ rating for everything on his ratings chart, which no other vape has), because I respect anyone looking to expand their brand and earning potential.
However, I would be far more respectful and on his "side," so to speak, if he was simply open about his close involvement/stake in the success of the Ghost MV-1 sales.
Something like: "I'll admit it, guys, I am a brand ambassador and R&D specialist working on a consultancy basis with Ghost MV-1. However, this IS a great vape, I wouldn't be involved if it were mediocre. Here is my review, which I will do my best to make as unbiased as possible."
My point is: this could very well be a great vape. It's not for me, because it's 300 freaking dollars, has a vaguely worded warranty, and accessory prices that would make even the Silicon Valley guys behind the overpriced (IMO) Firefly squirm.
But the vapor production looks fantastic, and if they develop a power adapter that can run it as a desktop unit, I'm sure it can succeed. Shit, if they get it into enough headshops, it WILL succeed...look at the Titan II. Or the Pinnacle Pro/Vaporblunt. There are still headshops around me that push that stuff hard.
At the same time, the vaporizer community has been bamboozled lots and lots of times. In fact, most of us started out by being tricked into buying shitty vapes. I bought the "3 in 1 Atmos vaporizer" for 29.99 on GroupOn. Suffice to say: it sucked.
So we're skeptical. Can you blame us?
This community will flip hard on the criticism if the vape is good. Look at Boundless...started out hated, now widely adored for swift customer service and fun livestreams.
You gotta prove it with FC
