***Gamers*** What are you playing?

Gamera, What's that? Some monster Godzilla fought with?

Also picked up Witcher 3 in that sale. I did all the question marks in white orchard, killed the Griffin and was thinking... "Man, this game maybe isn't that large after all."

Then I go to the next area in Velen, and... What the fuck? This is just the next area, and it is just so freaking huge, with notice boards all over the place and various cities I haven't even made my way over towards yet... Damn man, this is going to take me a year :p

@Diggy Smalls Can't go wrong with Binding of Isaac man, I played the shit out of that game for six+ months. I still go and do daily runs a few times a week even after finishing all the unlocks. (At least until they release Afterbirth + for PS4.) It is kind of like games such as cards or chess in a sense. Just a seemingly infinite combination of items/possibilities that affects your style of play every time you do a run. And it only gets more exciting the more you unlock and add on to the possibilities. Only game in my entire life I ever got the platinum trophy on.

@Diggy Smalls let's play some mario kart bro!

I finally beat all 120 shrines in BotW the other day, and am like 5 korok seeds from max inventory. About time, considering how huge my playtime is, but I didn't wanna look anything up and take away the fun.

Anyone else have a switch? I'm still up in the air about whether or not I'll get splatoon but if there will be people to play with....

I think a lot of games are big on space and low on content you might want to be careful you do not burnout and then realize you just hammered an intro zone to death. Skyrm is a bit like this the combats so simple and dull you are in pain half way through.

120 hours 50% complete what the hell!?

I'm close to 400 hrs in BotW and "only" slightly over 60% done. The rest of it is bs. I have like 10 more sidequests and 5 more koroks until those are just for completion. A lot of the stuff necessary for 100% in games is just super super crazy filler that only completionists will do

Yeah, some of the sidequests were interesting but most are filler just boring regular bs so easily skipped. I should finish them all now and will probably finish up my inventory while doing so.

Some are just annoying though... I gave up on the love letter one last time I was trying to knock out sidequests lol

What types of games (other than Skyrm) are you talking about? Are these mostly the open world games?

I've found a few mystery/adventure/puzzle games that I'm looking forward to playing. Don't have too much time to dedicate to this so I'll have to pick one or two at a time.

What Remains of Edith Finch
Night In The Woods
Little Nightmares
Oxenfree
Firewatch
Witness

I'm thinking about getting a gaming console.

I usually only play puzzle and indie adventure games. In the past I played strategy games. I'm trying to get out of the home office for non-work/chore related activities. Is it worthwhile to get a PS4 for indie games and games of these types? I'm thinking Machinarium, Don't Starve, etc. Maybe some of these would be best described as quirky puzzle, adventure, survival, exploration, etc. I'm not interested in first person shooters... The last sports game I played was probably Decathlon on the 2600.

I have a fairly large TV (65") so I thought I would be nice to play these on the large screen rather than a computer monitor (or iPad).

Anyone have thoughts on this? Do any of you play these types of games on the PS4? Do you have any favorites?

PS4 is going to be your best bet imo. It has a great offering of exclusives and also almost all indie releases make it to ps4. The only decision you need to consider is whether or not to get the ps4 pro. If your tv is 4k with hdr the I would recommend getting the pro. On the otherhand, if you on have 1080p on your tv and don't intend on upgrading in the next year or so then the extra money on the pro could beused to buy the 1 tb version of the ps4. That harddrive space fills up al ot faster than you think. I had to add a 2 tb drive to my ps4 because I bought the 500gig version at release.

Good luck with your decision. I have a pretty mac daddy pc, yet it is so nice just to plop on the couch and fire up the ps4. :)

The thing with those puzzle games is they are not very long usually. I finished Edith Finch in less 3 hours. Now, I loved the game. It is one of the most well done of it's type. But at 20 bucks, it is no gaming deal compared to most rpg or even shooters these days. I wouldwait for a sale on every one of those games on your list.

Also, I would add Limbo, Inside, Kentucky route zero and even Hollow Knight which is a platformer but sounds like something you would like based on your taste.

Also also, if you don't mind playing as a teenage girl :) , Life is Strange is great and routinely can be found on sale for 5 -10 bucks. I got it as a freebie with psplus which has had quite a few indie titles in the past

Thanks so much! I actually decided to go for the PS4 Pro - my TV is 4k.

I've played Limbo and Inside looks great. I just watched a couple of minutes of gameplay on Youtube.

Thanks for the suggestions. You definitely mentioned a few games that I would like to play.

Night In The Woods is amazing. Charming and funny as hell, just a really great adventure game. Little nightmares is pretty good too, a lot like Limbo and Inside. I actually just got Oxenfree and The Witness in a sale and I'm really looking forward to those. I hear they're great, especially The Witness.

Also like @deadheadbill suggested What Remains of Edith Finch is really good. A bit more experience than game (in my opinion), but those guys do that style of game really well. Really good writing.

I've been on a blast from the past week lately, since Crash Bandicoot remake is out. I loved it when I was a teenage kid, and I'm still digging it nowadays, it is really well done and lives up to the hype. It's been a while since I experienced this level of frustration though xD these last years spoiled me with easy and calm games. I'm also loving the witcher 3 but I'm on pause with that since I started reading the books few weeks ago and I'm loving them so much I wanna finish the story&lore before continuing with the game. Need to start The last Guardian also, but I'm stalling it because of the bandicoot.

Vapriot, Traveler & Vaporizer/ing lover!
Just a small inquisition night for me! :rockon:Sadly for me Sony has slowly been shutting down server services for PS3 users. So I'm finally being forced to save for the PS4pro and now also have to pay for online services (fuck you Sony you already nickel & dime us to death :freak:) to geek out with my friends from afar!

I remember my first system back when they first even made then I'm talking pc's too. And man Oh man..... how the "game" (pun intended) has changed. But I'm rolling with the punches anyways because I'm a geek for life obviously haha. :sherlock:

In the meantime this DeathStar shatter :bowdown:will help me forget the unneeded dry fcking by another corrupt corporation. I just can't stop enjoying gaming, vaping and this beautiful beneficial lifestyle:rofl: Enjoy!

Sorry never played those it was mostly Skyrm that was big on content with boring combat idk about the Witcher but those games are more story driven where i doubt you will burn out. As someone said the problem is price to hours of entertainment ratio.

Those games like Edith Finch, Firewatch and the Vanishing of Ethan Carter. You should add Ethan Carter to the list and maybe look on steam for some other story driven games? If you find the Wolf Among us for £5 like me you win. And then simply click Telltale games and see what you like.

I personally would say look at Telltale games like Batman, Walking Dead, The Wolf Among us and Tales from the borderlands was highly rated too.

Telltale's Game of Thrones is free with psplus this month as is Until Dawn which is an great adventure. I've also played Wolf Among Us , Borderlands and Walking Dead season one from Telltale. All great games. More interactive fiction like Edith Finch than true games but wholly enjoyable.

I'm such an idiot, downloaded the destiny 2 beta to try and forgot about it. I heard they extended it so I logged on yesterday at around 7 after work to finally try it and the beta had ended at 6.

On the plus side I just finished Prey and it was a ton of fun. Tons of optional stuff to do and a lot of ways to solve problems. It got less fun towards the end with some backtracking, but otherwise really good.

Just bought Pyre too, haven't played it but I'm expecting it to be good. Love the company that makes it, Supergiant. I've bought the soundtrack for all their games so far, they are so good.

So I've been playing FFXIV for a few months now. Reached level 70. End game is kinda fun but was getting a bit bored so I just started Horizon, Zero Dawn. Wow............a fracking beautiful game. Graphics are outstanding as is the voice acting and the battle system. Story line looks like it could be good as well. So far, there's nothing that I don't like about and everything about it, I do like. Like any new game, I'm still in the learning phase but it looks like this is gonna be a helluva fun time sink for a bit.

Historical day for us old school RPG fans, as Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar was finally released after 20 YEARS of development !

It's got a crazy story behind it, as the developer for it was hired by Sir Tech back in the day (publishers of the Wizardry games) to work on an unreleased/unfinished Wizardry game called Stones of Arnhem. There's a lot more if you wanna dig deeper, but I'm not going to get into all of it right here.

Anyway here's the pitch vid for it...

Most all of us gave up on this and never expected this day to come, but here it is amazingly.

That's what turns me off of most open world games. I'm too OCD and want to do everything so I get burned out doing sidequests before I get very far in the main storyline.
My stepson disappeared "Prey" from my PS4 and I'm now playing Fallout 4 instead. But, rather than going through the main storyline at all (Which I did in first round.), I'm JUST doing the side quests. (At least now. I might have to go to Diamond City soon which might further the plot.)

It's fun without the pressure. Build when you want, kill when you want, try to buy and sell when you want. Don't like a guy? Don't solve his problem.
