I hope everyone is doing ok!
I'm just hangin' in a lot of pain watching the Indy 500. Looks like it might be a good day for Andretti racing.

I really need a new drug, the Stelara just isn't functional for my arthritis symptoms any more. Skin is looking ok though.

Oh, I forgot, the FDA just approved Otezla (apremilast) so I may have a new drug soon :)

This is what she looks like, sexy eh? :brow:

I LOVE how they say this:
The specific mechanism(s) by which apremilast exerts its therapeutic action in psoriatic arthritis patients is not well defined.

Translation: We don't know how the fuck this drug really works, or what it really may do to you . . . :(

Why me?

Then again . . . why not . . . :peace:

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend . . .

That is exactly what I am doing! I'm so glad I can actually watch the race on TV while it's actually happening, instead of being subject to a stupid black out every damn year.

Don't you just love that!? You must be sick of being a guinea pig. I am so sick of being a guinea pig. I know @mvapes is as well. I wish there were a better way for us all. :(

On a side note, they finally started making generic Lidocaine patches, so I don't have to pay $300.00 every time I fill that prescription. It's the little things. I'll take what I can get. :)

So my wife thinks she may have fibro. She always in pain, has migraines, and for years MRI's, X-Rays, and CT scans have all come up empty. Personally, I think she's bat shit crazy. Her pharmacologist just changed all her meds, and when I say all I mean all!

I feel so bad for her and there isn't much I can do at this point. I've advised her to give it a few days for the new mental health meds to kick in. The added Depakote to her evening cocktail (500mg)as a mood stabilizer. They also are starting to believe she's bipolar. Which I take 1500 mg of depakote daily for.

My concern is that they added another drug and I don't know why. Risperidone - it's an additional bi polar/schizophrenia medication. If they aren't sure she's even bi-polar than why push a new drug when they already changed everything else?

On top of that all the possible side effects are everything she's suffering with.

@Vicki - so glad your back. By the look of the cast, you'll have those 3 fingers working in no time!

I just found out yesterday that my remaining dog Pancho has terminal cancer and needs to be put down soon. Some of you may remember that her sister Lefty passed over the winter. Pancho has been trying to die for years now for unknown reasons, but the cancer is a new thing. I was hoping to give her this one last summer, had all of her meds lined up but now it's looking like she only has a week or two left.

Pancho was the true runt of a 15-dog litter, and would not have survived it without her sister Lefty's protection. She had ptsd because of it but she survived, and may have outlived all of her siblings so runt's revenge. I will surely miss her like I do her sister, but we still have my cat Cosmo and he's in his prime.

I will keep her as comfortable as possible with painkillers and the other medicine she was already on. When her matching canvas duffel bag arrives we will put her in it, take Lefty out of the freezer and bury them together. Their graves are already dug, it's a very nice spot overlooking a lake.

Sorry to hear that bro it's never a good thing when we have to part with our pet's "family members"I wish u and pancho the best. I have laid on the floor of veterans office crying like a school girl one to many times. It's really hard to see them go but at least there at peace and no more suffering.

Hey @grokit - I'm an animal lover too. I have three currently and each one is like a kid to me. I'm a firm believer in the Rainbow Bridge and wish the best for you and your buddy.

The best explanation of death I've heard was it's just like before you were born.

They'll both be back soon.

Looks like I'll be hobbling about with a wrapped foot for awhile. Weeks.

Strangest part is, I have mirror pain on the exact (opposite) spot on my left hand. So, from what can be told so far, I may have cracked the bone in my little toe, and irritated a nerve in my foot at the base of the toe (on the back of your hand, it is where the "V" is felt back from the finger junction), which seems to be suffering from CMP, though all local & shit, rather than all over like I normally have (Chronic Myofascia Pain - common buddy of Fibro), and so when the foot one hurts, the opposite hand does too.. including the extreme pressure-pain on the side of the finger/toe.

Hmm.

Mvapes, fibro is difficult at best to get a solid diagnosis on, but if you can find someone that will actually do the trigger point testing (maybe a chiropractor?) and the general checklist, it may narrow it down enough for her & her health care providers. I find that a seriously Indica flower works best for fibro/CMP, though NOTHING will really fix it, or take it all away. sigh.

Whatever it has been that has destroyed so many people's nervous systems, is insidious, and seems to also drag along some brain chemistry imbalances. I do worse mentally when I'm going through an active fibro "season" - and, it does seem to be a long-running time, then I'll have some time "off" from it, lather, rinse, repeat. I blame mine on piss-poor parenting, HFCS, pesticides exposure, and second-hand smoke exposure from infancy. There's no proof of any cause, so I'll blame whatever the fuck I want, and that is what I've settled on.

On the bright side, had an amazing night's sleep last night, which might have to do with changing to an organic, natural "mattress" instead of (chemical-laden) the standard one. We are in testing phase, and if it continues, we'll be getting an organic, kapok & wool, with organic cotton cover, to replace our bed. Off-gassing of endocrine-disruptive chemicals seems to be an issue, and I'm willing to test out reducing as many of those as I can from my environment.

@Enchantre - sorry about your toe, that sucks. I jammed the toe right next to my big toe on my left foot and now with my arthritis its fused, I cant bend the middle joint on that toe at all. Its stuck until I see a surgeon and that is not happening soon. If it curls more and hits the top of my shoe and becomes a real problem then we will deal with it.

Today's Indy 500 really got me thinking because I used to be a huge CHAMP Car fan when they raced in Portland. I used to go every year with my dad for the races and also for testing in the spring, which was free and unadvertised to the public so it was an amazing chance to meet the drivers and teams and be in the pits with them. I have tons of old pics and video I'm going to resurrect and post here.

As some of you know I used to work for Lexus for a long time. During the launch of the GS400 I met Linda Pobst down at the California Speedway. She took me for some hot laps in the Lexus, but she was also on the pace car team for CHAMP Car. So guess who got a pace car ride with her one year? She made the tires on that car make noises that I have never heard tires make before or since that day. This is the first pic of me on FC with my real face showing. It's an old pic from right when I was first getting sick.

I was diagnosed with fibro once. It's not a disease so much as a collection of symptoms,
and a checklist for doctors to go by for disability payments.
If you're not eligible for disability, then there's really no point in going after the diagnosis imo.
and that is true. however, fibro is a qualifying condition in WA, I believe. maybe it's just the intractable pain part of it.

Campers that is hilarious! I had to do a double take at first too.... :p

I hope everyone is starting to feel a little better. @Vicki, this isn't your first rodeo with this so you know how the pain can come and go. Just rest and try to keep ahead of the pain. And don't forget to ice it. @Enchantre I hope your foot starts feeling better soon. Keep it elevated as much as possible and ice wouldn't hurt that either.

@grokit .... your post brought tears to my eyes. I love my dogs like they are my kids too. I can't imagine my life without a dog... so I hope you have plans on getting a puppy sometime in the future. I know you will keep Pancho as comfortable as you can and will give him lots of love and tell him what a buddy he's been all these years.

Speaking of buddies.... mom you gonna eat all that?

@mvapes I know you are working hard to help your wife during this hard time. I also know you remember how hard it can be to get stabilized. With your support and love she will make it through this.

@Melting Pot feel better soon! And listen to that wife of yours.....

@t-dub .... handsome devil.... :brow:

I hope everyone has a restful and fun day today. Maybe toss a little shrimp on the Barbie, eh @dorkus_molorkus ?

I think I spoke too soon. I guess they injected the surgical area with Lidocaine because it wore off on Saturday, and hurts like hell all the time now. Way worse than the last surgery. I also started throwing up on Saturday afternoon. Good thing my GP gave me a script for a lot of Phenergan.

I'm kinda worried because I felt a pop near the surgery area. I hope that doesn't mean that the graft came undone. I see the Orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday, so hopefully he will be able to tell if that happened. I am praying it didn't because I don't want anymore surgery. :uhoh:

I'm sorry about your toe @Enchantre :(
