Ok so weaning off my meds for Thursday's evaluation is starting to get tough. I am feel like I'm losing touch with myself. My gait is first thing to go, then the cramping got worse. After that it was the restless legs, first time in a while that I my feet had a mind of their own in bed.

I'm ok, pushing right through it - but wanted to share.

Not sure how relevant this is, but maybe you can find a tip or two here for the cramping.

You've probably heard this before, but I used to work with a bicycler and her number one tip was bananas. Good luck to you.

Yeah its called Mirapex, I take it too on occasion. They have instructed mvapes not to dose any of his meds, so they can leave his system, so as to normalize his condition for his upcoming medical test.

lol good ole bodybuilding.com.

While it is true that cramping can be caused by an imbalance in electrolytes, I am not sure if it would apply to Mshakes...worth a try though.

Guess @mvapes is going to have to eat a few bananas to find out. :spliff:

I didn't realize at the time I saw it that restless leg was related to pd, I just thought some leg jitters didn't sound so bad compared to gambling your home away. I mean seriously, sometimes the "cure" is worse than the condition!

Lets talk about that. Once you get into what I call "big medicine", thats when your "leash" with your doctors/specialists are measured in a few weeks at a time until your next appointment, and you have at least 3, or hopefully more like 5, trusted docs on your "wellness team" that are worth a shit. Your probably taking a lot of pills by now, many you've never heard of before, and its time to start reading those pesky "Patient Information" map foldout thingys and start making REAL choices because getting better isn't an option any more, now its just managed decline . . .

The problem is once you get to the good drugs, the ones that really do something (usually IV or subcutaneous chemo/biologics), when you read about them its astonishing to find out that in many cases they DO NOT UNDERSTAND the DIRECT mechanisms involved in the drugs therapy! They tell you straight up "we don't understand exactly how it works but we do know the end result (we HOPE) is this, this, and this" Now bring in the FDA label and the insurance companies, and this is just the TIP of the iceberg . . .

They call it "practicing medicine" for a reason, they are practicing on us.

Edit: Much love @mvapes hang in there man . . .

I have been practiced on quite a bit when it comes to anti-depressant/tranquilizers. It really is a back and forth, try this and then that and when you find something that works well enough, measuring the side effects against the positive benefits...I hope the future generation with a cure, appreciates this.

No, then they get fired. I have fired a few kids who thought they were "doctors" . . .

Oh and if anyone ever says you need a "Nerve Conduction" test . . . be ready for a little electrical shop of horrors . . . :o

We don't have the luxury of firing our doctors here...we can choose not to see them anymore, but the downside of a subsidized health care system, is it is not easy to find a new doc, as most are booked up to the hilt.

Good morning, gang.

I applied for my diploma this morning. Basically, they want you to specify how your name should be on it, and where to mail it, oh, and take this BS survey telling us how WONDERFUL your educational experience was.

It was alright, actually. I got it down as fast as I could (I completed 27 credits in this past six months)... on my own time. :)

I dislike the industry of "health care" in the US... I do recognize that for many things, it offers some assistance - and in the cases where surgery is needed, I'd much rather have a doctor do that - but I realize that I am the only person that has a vested interest in my own well-being and health.

I think firing doctors is the best thing to do, sometimes. They work for us, remember? Just like a plumber or a housekeeper, you hire them to address a situation, and if they do not perform, you find a better one.

Just my opinion. :)

I'm holding up guy's. Martini's anyone?
None for me, thanks. I think I MIGHT be recovered from the "Wine&Weed" extravaganza on Saturday night. :disgust:

I know it is HARD to wait for the testing... my hubby blew out a disk in his lower back, several years ago, and that was a pretty difficult time... lots of travel, tests, doctors, pain management clinic (sigh), and physical therapy. While he has mostly recovered (he's been determined to be 20% disabled now, Cat 3), there is a wearing down from chronic pain that just won't go away. Even with MJ... though, now that HE'S also graduated (yay!) maybe I'll be able to talk him into actually USING his meds more often (he can't study while using).

Actually, mvapes, I know it annoyed you when your new doc said she would be "controlling all" your meds... but, that might be a good thing, as a centralized smart person (TM) should make sure that you aren't taking an array of meds that will cancel each other out, or exacerbate negative side effects. I just hope she is amenable to using MJ as well. {{{{{hugs mvapes}}}}}
