FROLIC by Limelight Herb

Frolic landed today (UK). Great feel and design but disappointed with my first bowl. No real vapour production but cooked the bowl fully.

I’ve only been able to have the one bowl so far and I used the standard mouthpiece with the airflow wide open. On demand mode. Cleared in 3 big slow draws. First hit at 190°c then the second and third at 210°. The flavour was there and there was visible vapour but I was expecting big clouds like my TB2 produces and it was a little underwhelming.

Need to keep playing around with temps and airflow etc. Also wanna try the fold out mouthpiece and session mode.
Did it get better?

A couple things I would change if I could:

- Magnets to hold the lid on. I can see how the oring is a better and simpler solution, though. Since these were shipped without lubrication on the oring, I probably just need to add some beeswax to it to smooth things.

- Smoother PEEK ridges around the heater. These seem really grippy and harsh to my palms. It's not painful or something I can't live with, I'd just like it a bit smoother/rounded on the edges. Maybe I'll try sanding it at some point. It's nice that it's grippy so I don't worry about dropping it, though.

Update on these:

- A tiny film of beeswax over the oven oring makes the lid "click" on very nicely now. Removal is great too. The black outer casing is actually a huge factor in this interface, because you can just press the lid sideways against the perfectly shaped crevice, then downwards to "click" in place. Same for removal. It's great for keeping everything secure and centered.

-Rubbing a rough cloth over the PEEK body smoothed things a lot. Just a micro texture from the CNC process, and I really want to disassemble this to get it on my cloth polishing wheel.

To clarify, I like to fidgit with my devices and flip them around my hands and stuff, which is not fun given how aggressive the surface of the frolic is. If you have dexterity issues or just don't have my need to keep my hands busy, you'll love this thing.

I am a patient, and my hands are not that great, and this vape was super easy for me to handle

This. It's easy to hold and handle and the button seems to be always in easy access. The size is a plus here too. This device would be easy to operate with gloves or mittens, too, I bet.

The expert is testing a more clicky switch as requested.

I know it's like "I can't win" but the switch is plenty clicky as is. It's soft, but definite. I think something like the fury 3 has the perfect pronounced click that is fun, but this button has a tactile change in state and can't be accidentally pressed. Don't lose that!

Looking 🔥. So, that's just a piece of tape over the screen, right? I've also thought about something like that, might just be annoying if using in bright daylight or should it still provide enough brightness to be visible then? Guess you haven't tried...?

It's a non adhesive "Colored Lighting Gel Filter" that is used for photography lighting and such, cut down to size. They are really cheap, and I'm tempted to get a multi color pack so I can switch it up. In bright daylight I have to shade it with my hand but that's fine by me since I set and forget my settings and the button light is my primary signal for things.

(I'm also thinking that I'll include some filter swatches with every purchase of a frolic mouthpiece from me, when I offer them.)

@Dejan LimelightHerb What was the reason for using Ultem instead of PEEK for the mouthpieces and WPAs?

According to ChatGPT, it has a much lower heat resistance than PEEK, reaching down below the max 240 C that the vape can go:

So is it expected that the vapor has already cooled down a lot by the time it gets to the Ultem parts?

Thanks
GREED!!! 🤣

No, actually it was aesthetics, black gives a better balance... The vapor is way way cooler at the end so this isn't a variable don't worry. Chat GPT is semi right, yes even below 240 but direct contact heat

Hahahaha, that's good to know :)

And is it an FDA or EU-certified high grade, like Ultem 1010 or 1000?

1000, we did not ask for certification from the supplier, because even if we did, this doesn't guarantee much, been using it for a decade, didn't have any issues so far. Tested it myself plus a lab tested the whole device so I wouldn't worry, even if this was POM it would still be fit for the purpose. If you are asking if it's glass infused, it is not but this would mostly affect dimensional stability.

I just Has anyone tried the Frolic with TM2 dosing capsules.? More to follow. Eventually.

They fit, but I had to make more of an effort to get the cooler to click back into place. I had slight concerns the capsule would cause either screen to change shape. No such change to either screen.

FWIW/FYI I also weighed the Frolic and it's 262g. The TM2 (with stock cooling unit - not as pictured above) is 225g.

I am really liking the change towards allowing A&B capsules fit properly. I did not quite follow what you meant what would need to be changed. Is there a rough ballpark estimate when that change makes it to the units?

I am a very light weight user, my main is a crafty (with capsules) and occasionally a Dynavap B. For me the frolic would make sense once I can do controlled (smaller) dosages with the capsules, plus the ease of cleaning..or at least the feel of ease of cleaning 🧹

The S and B Capsules...They are not perfect...you can see the seam (a gap). When you take it out the lid clicks shut tight on my unit (no gap). I hope that we get capsules that fit the Frolic perfectly...this vape deserves a RED CARPET...truly excellent.

PS I am not sure how that small gap is inhibiting performance? I am not sure. It is also pushing down on the screen at the bottom.

ah, I was referring to this post https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/frolic-by-limelight-herb.56172/post-1859497
Anyway, we can completely eliminate the lower mesh disk position, meaning the S&B capsules most of you already have or are easy for most to obtain would fit perfectly. We could also make near identical ones and call it a day, since this will 100% work well. Please let me know if anyone would have a problem with this, I don't want it to be sketchy for whatever reason. This would be the quickest solution, and probably the best.
I also did a little proof of concept, to make the S&Bs smaller to fit https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/frolic-by-limelight-herb.56172/post-1858120 , so there are workarounds. But if something about the top unit needs change (& it seems like a reasonable decision), when that would be. Or now that I am reading that again, if that decision is still open

Anyone had The opporturnity to test these yet? Will they be too tall like the caps were?
Nope but if they don't fit, the same in the right size would be a nice/cheap/simple to make accessory. Maybe too simple  or basic for limelight idk

I know you have several AVLPs Dr. G. What I've been doing is just removing the top before I use the AVLP capsules. Perfect fit. Works in both session and on-demand modes.
