Discontinued Firefly 1, 2, 2+

No thoughts, head empty
I seem to remember using a lancet meant for blood sugar testing was sufficiently thin, but it’s been awhile
That sounds right, I believe Firefly used to sell a cleaning kit that was a lancet and some isopropyl wipes on their site.

I was just wondering if this was still around. Guess it is, but I wouldn't have thought that after my experience. I had the original shiny apple red Firefly and it never worked. At all. Tried repeatedly to get a return authorization or some warranty replacement thing going and either I couldn't get through to them or there were other hangups, because I never managed to get it replaced. It was just $400 worth of junk to me. I just tossed it about a month ago while packing to move. I actually kept the box it came in though because it was VERY well built. Still looks new after however many years I've had it.

I thought $100 or so was the right price for my 1st ff2+ because it did work well for flavor hits. wouldn't have wanted to pay more.
I think battery issues was the biggest killer.

The original FF had a lousy battery. Have you tried an FF2 battery with it?

thinking this thread needs a discontinued tag, I haven't found any batteries or lids left online so even if I keep it and use up the batts it'll end up a relic or e-waste. It's a unique distraction in the rotation so at $50-60 used I may just keep it.
ps. for those that want to keep the batteries healthy; Don't leave the unit in the charge dock for extended periods w/out using it, because it never stops trying to top it off. Don't leave the batt in the ff2 for extended periods off of the charge doc because the blue tooth is always on, it will kill a battery. For long term storage take the battery out of the unit.

Nope. Tossed it just a bit ago while packing for a move. buh-bye, all gone. Though maybe it ISN'T still around anymore given the followup posting above.

I now use various Underdog log vapes (all currently packed) and a dynavap BB9 - which I prefer to the M7 because its cooler. May try the M7 in my bong though.

Man even knowing how awful this vape can be, I still had to resit buying one for $100. I've always wanted one but could never justify paying more than a pax. Thank God for the dynavap black Friday sale. Now I have a m7 xl coming today to throw in the dyan- pile. At least I know it works and may occasionally use it while the shonmi or shadow are being cleaned 👍

Friendly reminder that the stock Firefly has might likely be DOA (I was 4 of 4 failed batteries), and the company will not reply to you. They will just keep your money unless you charge back. So don't give in to the temptation.

That's a bit sad because the red ones are rare. I'd have paid you for nonworking device, at the very least.

Just throwing it away an expensive device that frustrates you is something I'll never understand. I've seen it in some industries I worked in, and I was always thinking "but that was a $$$ device and you threw it in the trash to prove a point".

Maybe it's because I was always poor and had no excess money?
Maybe it's because I tinker and nothing is without it's true form?
Maybe people are different and discarding something that doesn't spark joy and just reminds you of some deep upset is healthier than keeping it any longer.

My son already thinks I'm a hoarder, no need to make it worse by hanging on to old junk that never worked right out of the box. And I DID hold on to that thing for like 5 or 6 years (when was the Red Firefly new?) before I finally gave in and tossed it.

I mean I'd have given you the thing for free, it just never occurred to me that an obsolete piece of technology that never worked from the get go would have any admirers LOL!

Fair play on all fronts, and I'm proud of you for simplifying your life. Moves are stressful enough and I remember purging a lot of things because one less thing to haul from A to B is a blessing.

I was punished by fate recently when I threw away a broken jhook that had been sitting on my workbench for months. Just finally looked at it and thought "no, no no this needs to go we can't keep EVERYTHING.

Two weeks later I'm building an induction heater and need glass tubing and realize that the leftover broken bit of jhook is the exact perfect size for my smaller stem vapes. So I got to dive to the literal bottom of my overfull workshop trashcan to retrieve it. Lesson learned lol

Broke out my jet black 2+ and put in some hand broken type 3 mangolomania, a very flavorful strain. Started at medium, stepped up after a little crush and stir. Drew very slowly, milkshake airflow. Was great. Wicked cloudy, great taste.
