So is that blue stuff holding the wires to the ceramic heater? Weird completely different than my ebay cloud.
My first eBay cloud looked identical to that (bought in the first week) my second one wiring looks a little different and used a brown thicker epoxy on the contacts and to hold the bamboo to the element.

Going by the name maybe the blue stuff is this blue magic thermosteel
I have some Blue Magic Thermosteel and it is grey with big metalic flakes. I would like to know what eBayExhale is using seems pretty good. I shorted my thermocople and my unit got to 1000F and whatever they use must still hold onto the contacts it keeps working the same (but I havent cracked it open to see about damage).

I too was wondering if my cloud isnt heating up like it was or if its just me. I feel like it isnt quite as hot and I run it around 3 lately. Anyone else?

yesterday, i took my cloud apart for two reasons, one was because i had inhaled some material of some sort into the bamboo, and it was stuck in the middle section, and i think it was affecting my vapor taste, and two i had dropped the cloud and wanted to make sure the bamboo hadn't cracked in the fall. turns out it was 100% intacted . I disassembled the unit first, it was a bit tricky sliding it out of the cover, only because the two top half's had popped apart as soon as the screws came out. Once i pinched them back together i managed to slide out the middle. once out it popped apart instantly due to all the stuffing in there, loads of fiberglass. once i had the bamboo free and made sure it was intact, i started cleaning it
I used iso first, then salt and iso mix and then a lot of iso to rinse the salt, it was all injected into the bamboo using a syringe. I discovered that if you bend a needle tip you can make yourself a miniature high-power iso pressure washer and use the jet to blast dirt away from hard to reach places. Throw some salt in the mix and take the tip off and you have high pressure abrasive iso cannon. after i washed out all the salt, i grabbed the air compressor and sprayed all the iso out of the bamboo, and then dried it.
I had spilled a few drops of iso on the insulation but i figured it would just evaporate off once heated, turns out i was right, it smelled like shit for a while after i assembled it and the first few burn offs reeked nicely. however this morning the smell is gone, i also sprayed air into the unit to help dislodge any trapped iso:science:

I just used it for the first time sense i reassembled it and it was working flawlessly!

AND here's all the shots of the internals for your pleasure. :mmmm:

So I've been playing around in the 1-2pm range and am haven't been able to get it to really "milk" the way that I've seen other people do it. Should I crank it more?

you are
1. filling the ELB too full
2. packing the material in the ELB down (dont pack it down let it stay loose)
or 3. inhaling too quickly

if you aren't doing the slow full inhale with your lungs until you run out of breath to inhale with you aren't doing it right

check the scan of the cloud+ owners manual posted earlier in the thread

I think you should go for it.
If yours is not getting hot enough to pull big clouds, the risk to damage the internal wiring is minimal.
I have been following the EVO thread and a lot of early adopters are experiencing different temperatures from one EVO to another, some even combusting at a low number on the dial, I guess not all clouds heat the same.

Does your cloud draw easy? Try giving it a little restriction on the cold end of the bamboo like a bit of a cotton ball or a glass star held in with a screen. I think having a little vacuum in the chamber helps.

aha, this is a genius idea. my cloud has very little restriction! i'll give that a shot

doh, i'll check out that manual. thanks for the troubleshooting tips!

Oh yea what i forgot to add earlier to my post was has anyone came up with a solution to limit the intake of unwanted materials? i guess what I'm saying is my cloud needs an air filter, any ideas on hot to construct one?
edit also i dropped my cloud from a table for the third time, thats twice today,

My fakexhale used to heat up pretty fast. I would give it about 10 minutes and it would be pretty warm to the touch, even with the dial at noon, from which it has never moved. Now after about 20 minutes of idle time set to about 1 oclock it is still not very warm to the touch at all.

I have brought it places with me and stuff like this so is it possible something got bumped/temp knob got misaligned or sometihng?

Might be time to do an operation soon.

Shape a screen and press it into the bottom of the bamboo. Probably not a very fine screen as it may restrict air draw too much. It should stay in by itself.

I have the habit of using my finger on the bottom of the bamboo to control airflow. Restricted airflow seems to produce a more intense hit. I'm not sure what's happening here. Is that increasing the pressure and thus the temperature?

Anyway, I wanted to ask a question for those of you who have been commenting on the cement binding the element to the wires. For clarification, that is the part that has been known to die on clouds, correct? So, are these clouds looking like they're better constructed in that one area than usual, and thus perhaps less prone to failure?

That's great news about the blue/grey covering over the solder joint! Im gonna have to crack her open sooner or later to see what I've got.

Yes that solder joint was responsible for many a dead cloud. There were also other reasons for failure apparently, but the solder connection failure was reported extensively.

inhaling too quickly

really??? all my vapes EXCEPT this one i have to do some sort of "slow" inhale to get good vapor results. This Floud is the first vape i ever had where i actually have to rip it like a bong to milk it. if i do the slow inhale i get thinner (not really thin) vapor that fills my bubbler but i can see through it. when i rip it harder i get thick full vapor that i cannot see through my bubbler

Ah alright. I was talking about using the dry mouthpiece where I find a slow inhale works best. When I use my hydratube or a bubbler I definitely need to pull like a bong, so yeah we still agree

Well, maybe not with my Vaporblunt hydratube, because that has no drag, i don;t need to pull very hard to get them clouds

I used my finger to control the air flow and got myself a nice cloud ;) gonna try stuffing some cotton in there

Funny I tried restricting the air path at first. I was used to hitting vapes slower and more methodically. I still only got wispy hits. That is when I realized you just hit this thing like you'd normally hit your bong. Once I started pulling hard I started getting milk.

Nice I'm going to have try restricting the air flow. I've been using the fakexhale at full blast to get light brown abv
