Yes, no real cause for concern as it’s likely just the tub gasket not seated properly in the device. Tight tolerance on the fit makes it hard to get back into place after a complete tear down

Has there been any movement on Evolv end as far as, idk, new tubs, graphics for the device, updates to the firmware. Anything to make this worth recommending anymore?
It’s just been sitting on my shelf, especially since the max came out for the aeris. It used to be my go to for sampling customers, or tasting new product at an event, but it’s no longer even close to the best for that anymore.

I prefer microdosing and recently have been really getting into concentrates for their effects and flavor – is the Cricket going to be my best choice? I've mostly been using my Vapman, but I'm thinking I want a dedicated electronic concentrate device. I'm talking smaller dabs than probably most people would ever consider putting in. A friend gave me a big glob that some people would probably dab in one go, and I've stretched it out to like 10-15 sessions. Thanks!

Nope! This is pretty much opinion, but pivot delivers better for less money and way easier cleanup
This is the answer. I love my Cricket, but I would never recommend it as a first device. The Puffco Pivot is perfect with its smaller bowl, MUCH easier cleanup, and dead simple operation.

With the size dabs you are taking, there is a chance it is the perfect device for you. But it is a chance, and the cost of that chance is appreciably higher than other options.
I think we’ve learned it’s a very narrow use case, but if it fits it really does shine. The cost of entry is way too high, which makes us all wary of spending other people’s money on it.

I managed to find one BNIB on the exchange for $200, so I figured I'd take the plunge at that price point. My use case is definitely very niche, but from everything I've heard I seem to be within this device's window. Looking forward to trying it!
The Pivot definitely was really enticing, but I've also heard it's really easy to chazz a ceramic atomizer if your loads are too small. I also really like the built in tool and storage on the Cricket, and for $200 I feel like I made the right choice. I guess we'll see!

I was more referring to the titanium showing heat skid marks in the middle of the tub. Was discussed earlier in the thread

Don’t recall that discussion, so I’m not sure what “skid marks” are.
The only expected change I see, is the metals color change when titanium is heated, which many like on certain titanium products.
1-2 Qtips, swab tub after session, clean & ready for next session. Before putting it away, I often use another qtip with 190 ethanol, and clean the tub & screws on top, sometimes pressing the power button at the melt temperature, for a bit of heat. Unlike all my ceramic bowls, the Cricket can be heated later to clean the tub, at anytime, titanium does absorb anything….
Besides the high list price, the main thing I dislike, is cleaning the THIN & fragile glass chimney. But I figured that out with some other members feedback in this thread, you can search on my older posts if interested….

Yeah I've seen the Cricket can get really messy after a bowl, but I don't mind doing regular maintenance to keep something looking and feeling new. I used to have a Puffco Plus way back when (which I understand you can't really compare to the other Puffco devices, but still) that I only used at the lowest temps, and no matter how frequently I swabbed it it always seemed to build up chazz with the small loads I was using. Maybe it'll be the same with the Cricket, but every thing I've read points to it being specifically built for microdabs. For what it's worth, I actually really liked the performance of the Plus; I'm definitely not a cloud chaser.
I don't really so much mind heat skid marks or discoloration, that's just part and parcel of titanium as far as I'm concerned. Chazz on the other hand feels like something that shouldn't be there caking on and messing with the flavor, as well as just generally looking gross.
Appreciate the feedback good and bad, I guess only time will tell if I like it or not. But on paper it seems to check all my weird little boxes.

I didn’t know this was truly a MICRO DOSER, when I bought it, but the reality is, you can’t OVERLOAD the tub.
That’s when you encounter “issues”. The heated dab and vapor has to go somewhere. If OVERLOADED, the top will get messy, and the thin glass chimney will eventually get more and more clogged.
Many folks can’t resist adding MORE concentrate, and that’s the main issue.
We have to take the time and effort to understand how a device is designed, and not try to bend it to our own desires, that just means you bought the wrong device for you personal preferences.
I use mine occasionally, in my rotation, and it always reminds me that I’m probably using more concentrates in my other dab devices then I need too. In this case LESS = MORE.
Welcome to the club! If your up for the maintenance, the Cricket will be a very nice unit. Tell us what you think when you first pick it up. lol. I was surprised the first time. I've managed to keep a lot of the mess down when I covered the 2 center intake holes on both sides. You may want to look into that. I'm sure it messes with the airpath physics they so carefully designed, but I get just as high with a lot less mess.

Yeah, I remember some members trying that awhile back in this thread. I never bothered, but your post made me think of the obvious, the restriction you create by blocking a portion of the incoming air-path helps reduce the splatter inside. Kinda helps restrict one from pulling too hard, which is something I have to remind myself of, if I haven’t used it for a long period. None of my many other devices require such a slow and deliberate air intake.
The main reason I don’t bother with recommending it often is the list price. I like it…

The Cricket gives me the most flavorful hits. It's the hardest vape I own to keep clean. It's the hardest vape I own to share with friends.
The secret to the Cricket's wonderful hits is how fast it heats up the titanium, how accurate it is in holding the temperature, and how fast it cools down. The titanium surface is cool a few seconds after you let go of the button.
The Cricket takes practice. You need a very slow and easy inhale compared to what you're used to. You have to learn not to overload it. It takes a smaller load than you're used to so it's hard to not overload it. And it's usually not overloaded from the first hit, it's from too much on the second (or third) reload. It's impossible not to clog the glass pathway in short order when you overload it. You know the little dab spoon that's built in? That's plenty for one big hit. And I don't mean as much as you can stick on the end of the spoon without it falling off; I mean a BB sized dab that fits in the little spoon.
Oh and I played with blocking the inner air intake holes to keep the concentrate centered in the titanium, but if you look closely at the silicon piece that holds in the glass pathway you'll see that Evolv has already tapered the size of the air holes and blocking some of them really doesn't help, only keeping the dab size down helps. I took out the hole blockers a long time ago...
I have three or four wonderful portable concentrate "devices" besides the Cricket. 90% of the times I bring the Devine Tribe Lightning Pen. It's easier if I want to share some hits with friends as it's not as unforgiving if someone takes a huge hit and you can load two or three hits of concentrate rather than just one. It doesn't have the flavor and it still needs to be cleaned after every hit (or two or three), but it's trivial to clean with one end of a Q-Tip. I don't need to have a secluded spot with a little bottle of IPA and a plastic stick and floss to keep the Lightning Pen clean and working properly.
But for the times I have the luxury of being able to clean the Cricket every few hits, it's absolutely worth it, and it's what I bring.

The things that really stood out to me when I had a cricket was, the nano dab amount needed and that it was on demand hits.
‘Twas a little pain to keep clean, but one of those that I regretted parting with. I was actually looking to replace it this year but after trying the pivot I’m going to let VAS cook a little more.

Finally got my hands on the Cricket (originally was going to get one for $200 BNIB, but that fell through, and so I ended up getting a used one for a little cheaper). So far, I think it's everything I wanted for concentrates. Flavor is fantastic. Airflow is definitely too open as others have said, but I find that plugging the holes works well and is quite adjustable (but does require two-handed operation). Really not too much mess with the tiiiiiny dabs I take. The only thing that's bugging me right now is when the cap off sensor gets wonky here and there.
I am sort of curious if you could run traditional hash through this... since the bucket is made of titanium and removable I feel like I'd be less worried about chazzing? Like if I ran it at low temps could I basically treat it like a conduction vape? Am I just really dumb and missing something crucial about how this device works?

Anything stubborn comes of real quick with a touch of bar keepers friend. Will have that Ti looking new in no time.
That cap sensor is finnicky for me too. I just turn off the cap sensor and pulse to pre-melt. If you want to keep using it, I find it seems to register much better in a specific cap orientation.
