Wow hello and good morning you all, what a few weeks it has been, I have had such a blast with my boys, the days will surely be some of the funnest of my life and am sure they will be telling their kids about them as well! We did 5,375 miles in 15 days through just as many states, we so covered some ground, toward the end we were tripped out and ready to be home, gosh I missed the trees and the low lands, aint no place like home! Its so funny, we were gone so long in so many different places that my first night home I woke up at some point to pee, I walked into the kitchen disoriented was trying to figure out where I was at, I even had to turn on the light, ohhhh the bathroom is the other way lol! Yeah so it took me several days to regroup mentally and physically, at least 3 or 4 days of washing clothes, putting stuff up, and just being overall lazy. So before I show ya what I have been up to yesterday, I wanna show yall a few pics from the trip,
Carlsbad was alot of fun, we walked about 7 miles one day, through the cave where it was in the 50's felt like heaven, trails above ground and all over. These are the Barberry Sheep I mentioned above, hella climbers
Was just below Carlsbad Caverns camping, I really hadnt thought about running into this guy, not that I am afraid of em but sure aint going to let him get that close to me either
We left Carlsbad, went to Roswell, was neat, ran into some guys that have some really far out there ideas on what aliens are up to, stopped in this one dive, looked at the pic later, looks like he found Beavis & Buttheads couch.
We then went to Lincoln, NM. for the Billy the Kid tour, how cool that was yall walking the streets, going into the Murphy Dollan House, in the Mcsween house, going to the jail where Billy was held, wow just the feeling was so neat.
I grew up watching Young Guns, have seen em many many times, this is the stairway where Billy shot Bell coming up the stairs in the movie, the holes at the bottom are Billy's
So cool looking down these stairs thinking Billy was up top trying to escape one thing led to another and Billy made his way!
Went to Albuquerque to camp at the Cibola National Forrest, that was alot of fun too, the boys and I hiked up the mountain side to 8,000', did some spelunking there.
Went into the city to the science museum, the rattle snake museum, then walked through a part of the city called Old Towne, had many many shops with local vendors selling art and jewels, alot of nice stuff, there was this old cathedral around the square, had been there since 1706 San Felipe
Left there headed to Vegas, did the Hoover Dam and 4th of July fireworks over the city, I have a temp thing on the side of my mirror in the truck, I had no idea it would go that high, was freaking 112 out there, yeah not my kinda heat
Went to Zion National Park from there, that was a whole lot of fun, we went up the Narrows, the boys got in the stream floated in the current, climbed on rocks, gosh what good times
Left there to go rockhunting for geodes on the Pony Express Trail, there is a great spot at the Dugway mines where the guy let his claim go, anyone can go and dig for them, we had a heckofa time, my truck was already packed from top to bottom side to side and had to find room for at least 50 lbs of rocks, seeing the boys smile when they broke one open and gazing at the crystals inside was so fun. You have to drive an hour on the trail to get to the mine, its all wide open country no fences, no light poles, no man made stuff except for a couple rock houses kinda things along the way I guess for the riders to stop, we saw a herd of wild horses
Headed North to Yellow Stone, we saw Buffalo, Elk, Pronghorn, squirrels, geysers, mudpots, an Old Faithful, they said when it ran every hour 50 years ago, now hes running about every 90-100 minutes
We were there on a Friday, I had no idea it would be that cold, I had fully intended on camping there but didnt pack enough cold gear, was 30 at night and was supposed to snow Sunday, uhhhhh yeah! Got a hotel for one night which cost me as much as 3 nights along the trip, couldnt afford another. We went through Colorado Springs to Dragon Mans place, took a tour through his huge military museum, the boys got to hold a big sword with a gold handle that Saddam had next to his bed when the US forces raided it, saw all kinds of cool stuff there. We drove through Kansas to Arkansas, had dinner with my former pastor and his wife, went to church with them that sunday night, was great seeing his sermon, had forgotten how great a preacher he is, was very moving and a blessing! We were headed to BassPro in Memphis for the last stop, its the mega store, total DU head quarters, made it home Monday afternoon. Boys went back to their moms a few days and I got em back after a couple, did the waterpark Friday, got some sun on my body, still feeling the burn baby, lol, got church with them tonight. I have never done anything like this before, I didnt do any wood work at all for 20 days, I rarely answered an email, I thought nothing of work for the most part and loved every minute of it. I had such a great time with my kids, I cant help but think of all the fun times we had the smiles the laughs the stories we told remembering what happened in the day, I am such a lucky man to have my sons, they are what its all about!
Ok so now for Vapor Bomb Show & Tell, so I got back had several orders to fill, had a big shipment of Bomb blocks show up while we were gone, I cant remember how many pieces are in this box but know it weighed 76lbs. the piece standing up is juniper I snagged from just outside the Pony Express Trail
Here is a Redwood Burl beta Bomb I turned yesterday
Gotta get a few more spun today, got the air pathways done, gotta install them, wire in the connector. The hard part now seems to be finding the right kind of controller, I have some rotary dimmers that I can wire inline but dont really wanna do that. I want to find the right boards and put together a digital display giving the user complete control over the unit. Am giving it hell beating the internet streets in search of the right components. Its all going to come together. Hope you all enjoyed my post, glad to be back!
@Oogendoogan My man, was a trip of a lifetime, hope you like the pics and all above bro! Let me know what you think of the beta bomb, more to come!
@Shit Snacks Wow Zion was fun bro, so glad we made it there. Hope all is well for you!
