Just received my Granadillo solo tube.. couldn't be happier.. I did notice a bit of a 'wood' taste to it just inhaling thru it, so I gave it a good rinse and dry. After about an hour or so, when I was pretty sure it was no longer damp, I put it on the Solo and gave it a couple full run's on '7'. Loaded it up and took 'er for a test drive. I got very little if any flavor degradation from the wood tube. It's a very handsome look and I'm going to order another one so I've got one to go and one to show, so to speak. I need to find some sort of plastic or rubber cap to put over the 'bowl' end of the tube do I can carry a loaded one while traveling.. I can have them both loaded for quick load and go... I love the thing.. great work Ed.. sure hope you start offering the Dugout for the solo tube.

Yes but then I'm defeating the purpose ... there's no reason to get it if I'm only using the stem...I try to avoid combustion anyhow...

You would use the solo dugout to store your stash and the shorty for use. There is no combustion involved!

No you were right. The original dugout is meant for stealth combustion(cig looking one hitter and a spot for your stash). But Ed redesigned one of his dugouts specifically for the solo(shorty solo stem and I believe a stash spot and maybe even a spot for your ABV). Its a special request type item. So get in contact with him if you want one.

That's because you would need to contact him on it as its a special request type item. That is even if he has the wood available to make it in. So you would most likely have to wait for a bit. I would email him or give him a call if your interested.

If i'm not mistaken it was Stu who ordered one of these dugouts. Now that i have a Solo, looks like a nice addon. And i don't have any of Eds Stems yet.

You are not mistaken, vorrange. I posted this in the Solo thread a while back when I got it:

I haven't really used it as it still needs a spring mechanism installed to get it to "pop up" the stem when the lid is opened. Otherwise, you'll have problems getting out the stem without spilling your weed all over the place.

It is beautiful, though, and the shorty stem works great for vaporbonging.

I appreciate your input on the above fellas, yes they are correct, the wooden solo dugouts are a special piece that hasnt gone to my website yet. Not sure how many or if I will offer these in the ordinary. I have 3-4 of these made and will let them go if you wanna get in on em, you would need to contact me and lets talk more about it. Thing is I am having trouble finding a spring that is just right for the box. Gotta have one that will push the solo stem out so you dont have to turn it upside down. Stu was the only one that has gotten one so far.

Ed, i would get the dugout once the spring is done, but is it possible to get just a mini stem, say blackwood? That would be a more pressing concern.

why not just throw a normal regular spring in the bottom? Is the bowl causing the issue?

This is exactly right Stu, its all about the right spring and these things arent just laying around out there. I have tried fastenal and all theirs is either to small OD or the spring rate is to low itself. The stems is just over a 1/2" OD so am looking for one that is this size so that I can just bend it slightly outa round on both ends so it will grab the bottom of thee wooden hole and push the stem out of the top. Maybe alot of it is just time. Have been slammed with alot of other work and put these on the back burner. I will try and google it today and see if I can find something out there that will work.
