A question for woodworkers.

Which type/style of drill bit are good for drilling nice clean holes?

Wanting to make stems and small bowls. Using a mid priced spade bit at the moment but the results aren't the cleanest, the bit is brand new too.

I’m not a pro woodworker or anything, but for smaller holes, up to 1/2 in., I’ve used a brad point bit with success. They have a center point and sharp cutting spurs designed to drill clean holes.

Brad point bit, yep. And for bigger clean holes, you'll need Forstner bits.

I’m not a woodworker, but I think for very precise clean holes with less risk of cracking and other problems, it can help to use a small bit to make a pilot hole followed by a larger one.

@Exsmoker & @blokenoname I went and got a brad point, working way better than the spade bit.

@VaporWare Next I'll try pilot hole styles and see how that turns out.
