Dreamwood Roasty

So since I've got one of the first earliest units ever to be sent out, I figured I'd just start a new thread for this one so its ready when they start shipping (or maybe they are already for sale on the website? I'll have to check) I'm sure eventually @Dreamwood will get a chance to post and introduce it here so then the mods can move that post to the front at least. But anyway this design is ofcourse based on the Triihouse Peace like how all the wood/glass direct torch convection vapes are based on Trii originals...

Anyway like the Peace, the Roasty Vaporizer is a simple conduction design using a torch and glass tube with wood mouthpiece body. They will come in a variety of shapes and sizes (S or L), while I've seen many different shaped customs in beautiful woods on Instagram (lot of tutorial videos there) along with caps or round bong connector versions. Mine is a very soft smooth wenge wood thin around the glass, so very compact and portable with the tube inside, but most are larger and still plenty small

In these you load the glass tube with herbs (or in this case I added a little mystery crumbly hash to the Sour OG) up until the glass pinch which is your screen (scooby snacks can be a risk so if you are concerned you could add a screen there or in the mouthpiece I am sure). You can load as much or as little as you want and pack it down, then wave the torch along the tube while spinning for several seconds to make some conduction vapor in a very simple form, just like the convection vapor the other vapes provide

In this photo it is freshly packed (tool is from MistVape btw, perfect for mine but production glass screens could be different, pokers good):

While this is after a few heating cycles, stirred and repacked (all inside the tube sideways):

Then after a few more cycles of that pattern, two or four, I am not quite sure bc of the last one:

On that last one I got a little more confident with the torch and heated a little longer and breathed in a little deeper. It kept puffing and puffing out vapor, definitely had a roasted taste but no combustion even after many cycles (makes sense since this was a decently large bowl, can do smaller and bigger size loads easily) I think technically it may be toasting herbs for vapor, but Roasty is a great name that suits it well

So I emptied it after that, but the bottom right half of the avb here was courser or hashy and still had some life left (added to a diff bowl):

So yeah this is a simple, surprisingly effective vape and I think it will make a lot of people happy, especially those who like to take their herb to dark dark black extraction (*cough cough* @paytonpenn;)). I am digging it as a sort of vapor joint esque experience, chill back for a good stony session semi-on demand style, pure taste with no other materials cept glass and wood, it is a nice way for convection snobs like me to appreciate full conduction again

I really like their products. The Peace was too harsh for me and I ended up giving it away. Is this one similar in terms of that?

Probably, but you could get one with a long mouthpiece made, or a water connection tip, if they helps you with that aspect. Overall I don't find it too harsh personally but yes it can be depending on how high temp and how you hit

I have DIYed something similar a while back ,honestly it works better with hash then herb. And when you load herbs make sure they are on pellets (coarse grind then press with fingers together) or small buds like with the Vapolution Poket vaporizer :).

Cool haven't seen that one, yeah its simple tech functionally, but here the wood is what makes it special for sure. Some of the designs he's posted on Instagram are amazing, so unique, so many styles. And I've been having decent success with varying grinds somehow too, but I'm sure there is an optimal consistency (most conduction likes super fine, so should try that more, may need a screen though) Oh and his newer Roasty tubes seem much more precise and carefully designed than this early one, so the glass screens are likely even better. Either way I do love having an all glass screen though, was never crazy about steel mesh myself

Hello vapers!

First of all thank you @Shit Snacks for opening the thread and the nice write up.

The Roasty vaporizer is indeed based on the Triihouse Peace vaporizer and works the same way. But without the need of (stainless) steel screens. We added 3 spikes as a screen to the tube.

The basic Roasty vaporizer is build of two pieces (wood & glass) which conect to each other with a silicone o-ring.
The glass heattube can be inserted in the wood vaporizer body for transport and storage.

We build a S (small) & a L (large) version THE DIFFERENCE is just the diameter of the glass heattube.

At the moment we only offer the square version of the Roasty but the round version with 14,5 or 18,8mm wood on glass conection will be available next year.

I also made some Roasty we call the "duo" it has a 8mm hole drilled in the mouthpieve side so a glassmouthpiece or a vapcap fits in.

Like always i can build what you like, on request! Just ask and we see if its possible to build!

Already got a custom request for a Roasty L with magnetic cap, the one on the pics is the prototype i made , need to look if i have a pic of the other one. I know i have a video at instagram of it.

Thank YOU @Dreamwood for the beautiful work! Ah so I think I actually have an L myself with the wider glass tube chamber, will have to try the narrower S glass tube at some point too!

No such thing as pic overload, these are so amazingly gorgeous man, still cannot get over that pink ivory, and those angles! Anyone not following on Instagram should get on it asap

Whoops can't edit anymore, so maybe this post can be deleted even, just wanted to say these are now up for sale on the site I have confirmed, the pear wood and zebrano in the photos. So this thread can probably be moved to the main section? A little help @Stu? I would also change the title to Dreamwood Roasty Vaporizer to match the other product threads, but not a big deal I'm sure... Oh and should maybe move Dreamwood's own post to the top even? I mean there are so few it probably doesn't matter lol

Heeey Shit Snacks !

Thanks for creating this post, i was looking for more info about this new release !
I'm on the wait for a roasty by myself, and your description makes me feel i won't regret taking the plunge.

By the way, il didn't knew it was also a Triihouse concept, so let's continue the legend guys !

I really like open source concepts, they seem to bring us ones of the better inventions these days, think of linux, btc's and this.

Happy new year to all FC'ers !

Hey guys I have a couple of roastys I love them. I'm in the proceeds of ordering more custom work from dreamwood. They are fantastic from the first email to the sale through to the final sample and using the vape.

The way I used to upload pics from imgur seems to have changed? Can't seem to work it out otherwise I'd share my dreamwoods with you all.

Anyone thinking about getting one just do it they are great.

Enjoy

Nice!

Yeah imgur site changed, gotta select desktop view mode from phone then you can upload like normal, touch photo to show share options. Or you can paste the imgur link into the post image button here, instead of using their bb code. Good luck, I wanna see those dreamy woods!

The abv looks a bit too dark, does it burn the herb a bit?

Lighting is shitty, but it can if you go too hard with the torch, but you can see it through the tube. Theres technique like any analog on demand vape, not as brainless as VapCap with the click, but I am actually liking it a bit more even so... But yeah that's why I mentioned for people who like to take their avb dark like @paytonpenn this could be perfect, I definitely was able to get it very dark without any combustion, and you can keep it light if you want too as you hone technique. Taste can be super fresh low temp or overcooked upper temp roast, so that and the visualization help to control, aside from the way you heat and pack. There is probably more feedback and similar useage posts in the Triihouse Peace thread too?

That's all I did, contacted via Instagram he has knocked up a prototype of the magnetic capped one in about 3 hours. Now he's made one I'm sure he will get yours made quick. He likes custom work. I already have an idea for a custom Dobby just waiting to get the funds together. They are great vapes and excellent service

If you don’t mind me asking. How much did the magnet cap roasty cost?

So, mine is the bottom one in the 3. pic of the zebra wood roasty s pics from Dreamwood :)
First impression is damn that torch is huge and that vape is tiny, super for the pocket - only a few bowls in so far, but usage is pretty simple as experienced vaponic user. I would say somewhere between vapman and vapcap from the 'vape signature' i really like it. Got still a bit to improve in technique, but got good results from the start, guess keeping reheating as short as possible is key to stretch the session.
The glass screen works better than i expected, no need for anything else so far :) - and i am picky...
Also got a straight air intake glass for the DLX - it s the same size as the roasty's tube, so i will experiment with some screen wedging the next days...

These look amazing, I love my little triihouse peace but it seems rather plain and bulky compared to these dreamwood roasty vapes... plus my peace now has a crack in the glass after a couple years of decent use so I needed a new one.

Just found out about these today and went looking at the Dreamwood website and found four I really really wanted, should only get one but settled for two, the rosewood L with cap and an ebony S 14mm. Can't wait to get to use them.

I'm loving keeping things simple these days and these look to be as simple as it gets while still being beautiful little works of art...

How did I not find these sooner?
