Depends on the potency of the herb am puffin on. I use a Xvape Fog at the moment and there is some residue built up in the mouthpiece but not that big. Cleaning it every 2 weeks keeps it ok for me.

Well first, I don't feel that the vapour just "condenses" and stays there. I feel that the lungs absorb and cleanse...
At what temp do you think that the vapour hits our lungs?

That's a good question, I think there would be a lot of variables. IMO direct draw with the shortest vapor path should be ideal for reducing condensation, but that means the incoming vapor must be hotter to stay in phase, so then it becomes a trade off with perceived harshness there. No free lunch!?

This is kind of hard to answer because I get allergies regardless, the one thing I did notice since vaping more frequent is that I get hives if I scratch somewhere on me, not uncontrollable by any means but I've never had this before. To add to the oddness of all of it I don't really get them when I vape (sometimes I get itchy but not bad) but in general when I scratch anywhere it usually welts up no matter if I have vaped or not. Yay for weird health stuff!

Marijuana is an expextorent. Anytime you are congested and vape you're gonna gonna have to hock some loogies!

Guess I’m vaping tonight. Had a sore throat for a few days. Been hacking out mad loogies all week. Want it gone now that it’s the weekend. Enjoy some beers and Alien OG.

Really never knew it was an expectorant.

Yes I get mucus in the mornings especially after a heavy vaporizing session the night before. I dont think its because MJ is an expectorant likely due to irritation of the respiratory tract.
Something I'm starting to notice, and was about to post my own thread about before seeing this, is the amount of fine particles that come through in the vapor. I've been using a glass J hook and there are bits of debris all the way up to the end of the stem, so some of that is making its way in the lungs.

Shit, that's probably what vapor is; super-fine plant particulates, heated to near combustion, suspended in a resinous steam...all up in your bronchi. I'm no Kevin Sabet, but that seems like it could probably stress your tissues...maybe even do some damage, though I'm not aware of any studies that have shown that. Then again, I'm usually looking at NORML not NIDA.

As for the mucus, I haven't noticed anything weird but I stay pretty elevated so hard to tell what's base-line. What sorta mucus are we talking about anyway? Runny nose? Flem? That vile discharge ya from sticking strange things in strange places? :brow:

I think I do notice more mucus. I am an ex smoker of nearly 20 years with a few sober years dotted around.

I recently had some sort of cold or flu bug illness thing and today I coughed brown mucus up. I've been using a bubbler this week so may have been inhaling deeper than what I would normally. I'm also using CBD hemp, not sure if this is making a difference but I'm feeling a lot better. I used to have it a lot worse (black) when I would smoke which isn't too long ago. I just see it as them clearing things out. @Jambi619 I think you're right here. We're not only inhaling one molecule we're inhaling other cannabinoids, terpenes and probably some fine dust and plant material too. You only have to look at glass, gauze and mouthpieces to see that they accumulate resin. Something's going to get through. I guess activity and knowing your body. I take peppermint oil for digestion as I sometimes get mucus or heartburn after eating.

I've been vaporizing other herbs too. I seem to be feeling the effects more from a higher quality vaporizer. I had a session with a few different herbs in the volcano, Mint sort of stained the bag for a few days and gave stuff a menthol sort of taste.

There's lung cleansing herbs, eucalyptus I've tried and enjoyed and wild oregano seems to be popular but I haven't tried this yet. I guess vaping may never be as pure and healthy as just breathing fresh clean air but I work in a built up city live in a popular town. There's pollution and carcinogens everywhere. What we're doing is just aromatherapy in my opinion, using organic material.

Be well :peace:

I haven't noticed an increase with vaping. It's actually gone down, and I never use Musinex any more. Individual results may vary. The body makes over a quart of mucus a day, and the lungs make their share of this. The cilia and mucus move foreign particles and substances out of our lungs. It doesn't just sit there and build up, with the rosin gluing our aveoli together, with flower particles clogging the bronchioles. Lungs just don't work that way. If a particle is too big, we cough to expel it, if smaller we have the cilia and mucus. I haven't noticed more phlegm, either. If anything, my coughs are dry.

I have a self made himalayan salt spray and essential oil nose inhalator. I do them daily and since then i've never had any mucus issues.
I noticed that i get some mucus if i vape dry,i think it is due to the particles that get stuck in my throat/lungs. Also i get increase from using shitty vapes too, best remedy other than what i said is to add garlic and hot spices in your diet.

I find that vaping makes me thirsty and sneezy, and my lungs feel a bit sticky and heavy compared to before I started vaping
I'm pretty active, run 20-30 miles a week and I've not noticed a decline in my cardiovascular capacity but I do worry about my lungs lately, I don't remember them feeling this 'sticky' when I used to smoke cannabis, then again I was a lot younger...

You might try drinking more fluids. The mucus in the lungs needs water to stay thinned out. You don't want it getting phlegm like, or you will get the feeling you describe. I also have something to drink when I vape. Vaping is drying, and fluids help a great deal. As we get older, our thirst signals diminish, so I make extra efforts to stay hydrated. A big reason to force fluids when you are sick, is to keep mucus membranes moist, and the mucus thinned. Everything works better properly hydrated. If your mouth is dry, so is everything else.

Interesting thread, glad I found it. Good contributions.

From the posts, It does sound like how vapor effects our lungs is as individual as we are. I'm sure age and your life experiences are huge here, along with genetics, and where you live.

No smog where I live but we have lots of pollens. Even though I live near water, it still gets bone dry here in winter.

As someone with asthma, and someone who worked in asbestos, and as a welder for years, and as a 64 yr old I am acutely aware of my lung function. But like most I suspect it varies. When my alergies act up, I back off vaping. If vaping makes me sneeze, cough or am bothered by it, i dont vape. For me it's as simple as listening to my body. Same as if your arm hurts, you take it easy on that arm or suffer the consequences.

And I've found some vapes work better for me than others. Giant hits off my silver surfer bother me, and i cant take any metal coils in pen or mod vapes. In general I like low temp vaping. I like using water. When vaping herb is a problem I vape rosin, although sometimes I vape rosin just because I like rosin. If rosin bothers me I take medibles.

I've been running religiously for about 20 years and am currently doing the same mileage. Just did a 15k this past Saturday. I started running when I smoked cigarettes and herb and took up running as a reinforcement to giving up the gretts. It worked. Before I found vaping herb, about 5 years ago, I had to keep a rescue inhaler handy due to the asthma attacks I'd get occasionally after working out due to exercise induced asthma. Haven't used a inhaler in years.

I've been at it awhile and my lungs don't feel sticky and I get seriously high just before each run...it's part of my warm up.,,,,take a hit, do a stretch kind of thing. Then again the way I approach this could mean my lungs have always been sticky and I'm just not noticing it because it's the norm for me.

Well I'm about a year in to vaping (herb not ecig) my brown mucus has completely disappeared. I feel like I have less mucus now compared with smoking but I still get a bit of a cough/sticky lungs.

I don't get anywhere near as ill as the people around me, they are always sniffling and cold/flu/stomach bugs so I think my immune system is better. I also eat a bit healthier *I see diet as what you eat from day to day not purging the body but balance, I eat a lot of fruit and veg but will allow myself to have the odd snack food or occasional pizza. I've been craving different foods and finding dislikes in others (taste buds/metabolism changing vs smoking?)

I do have to hydrate more. I can find long vape sessions harsh, I drink a lot of tea cause I'm british-hot drinks are good with a vape. Cold water too. I got a @Magma_Industries add on for my volcano. This helps, I also like using water with any other vape but do find there's a sacrifice in flavour when using water.

I also find that I cough less when vaping rosin or hash/keif pollen pressed. Would this be a reduction in plant matter, causing less irritation to my lungs? Sometimes vaping herb makes me sneeze, maybe a slight allergy?

I could be more active but I do walk a lot.

Yes, I do. Not as bad as smoking (as in, its not black and as thick), but after a long search for finding my own personal sweet spot for hefty vaping vs no lung issues, I've finally got it licked.

Now I'm down at low temps on my FP, it doesnt happen as much. But if I go over around 600 degrees, theres a noticeable up tick in how much phlegm my lungs produce and how prone my breathing is to issues.

If I vape flower at higher temps, its even worse.

If I stay around 560 to 590 (even 590 is just a tad too much) and use only concentrates, I barely get any mucus build up/breathing issues.

Its taken me a looooooong time and lot of trial and error and using different vapes to get to this level of being clear of mucus/phlegm/lung issues but still manage to give myself large, lung busting hits :D

So I guess my answer is "No, not any more" :D

Thanks for the ping! Although I did not intend for Magma/Obsidian to address asthmatics, I've found that the humidified vapor greatly helps prevent attacks from happening during vaping. Let me know if you'd like other information! Cheers!

100% ! Was OP a smoker prior to smoking? One of the reasons I started vaping was to Reduce Mucus, which vaping did considerably compared to smoking , in my personal experience .

A lot of us noticed health improvements when switching to vapor from combustion, but this thread is more-so about whether you notice an increase in mucus after vaping when compared to homeostasis.
