I certainly wasn't looking to go any smaller than the hubble :), which I've actually been happy with for many years until earlier today when it broke. Before I just ordered another one I thought I'd ask about the 14mm HydraTube that Matt also sells to see how it compares. Other than the mouthpiece on the HydraTube they seem to be about the same size and look to hold about the same amount of water.

Since all of my caps have 14 mm tops I guess that rules out using the larger 18mm HydraTube. I hadn't thought about the adapter part until you just mentioned it and the whole rig is unwieldy enough with just the Hubble on it.

I'll go see if I can find the dedicated thread on glass bubblers...

I have decided the EZ battery is not for me. Button presses too unreliable, button feels like poo.

My Pico Plus arrives today. Is the best firmware option still artic fox? Any profiles or hints setting it up for the lightning quest?

Ok - pico plus does not take custom firmware, but it works just fine out the box. Dont really use autofire, you dont need to hold it down that long.

Feels nice in the hand. Good weight to it, nice button. Its wider than the EZ, but with the lightning quest on top, shorter. Overall its probably only slightly bigger.

Much happier with this. The EZ battery feels like a toy compared with the pico plus. This make me dislike the EZ more. Price wise it cost about the same.

My opinion of the lightning quest itself is
unchanged. An improved v5 \ lightning pen hybrid. Still not spilled it once, and less splatter. The tall bucket is a better shape overall. Great bit of kit.

Where did you purchase the Pico plus from? Was there a discount code? Thanks

lightning quest mini-review: I bought it b/c I wanted a portable for wax, was impressed by the lightning pen's flavor (if not the bowl size). I hoped to get ~10 hits from one (3 rice grains?) load. I didn't expect much for ~$50, but was pleasantly surprised. most people will probably use this with water, but since I'm using it (mostly) in my car before events, I wanted to see how it works 'dry'. after a few test runs, this is my sweet spot:

- use the lowest temp
- hit autofire or just hold the button ~6 sec to pre-heat. vape gently ~8 sec, turning off the heater at ~12 sec (vape a few seconds after the heater's off)
- I got 10 decent-sized clouds (if not huge rips) that didn't make me cough. minimal residue to clean up.

btw: I used one of matt's rubber WPAs on the tip to add a bit of cooling.

not as gentle as the proxy, but a screaming deal. kudos to Matt!

I recently purchased a used v5 on the exchange because my urge to tinker for relatively few dollars resurfaced and it's an excellent value. Disassembly and cleaning was straightforward and the setup with the q tip test was easier than I anticipated on an evic vtc dual mod.

First dab hit hard as I'm used to lightning pen sized dabs and this one was about twice that. I really have an aversion to bangers and torches due to technique and the extra time for cleaning and setup etc. I think the v5 is ideal for anyone who might feel the same, cleaning is simple and fast.

I considered a stand alone dab rig like the core, carta, aeris, or proxy but at the end of the day I didn't want to spend money on proprietary glass when I have perfectly fine CC glass to choose from. The v5 with bottomless banger was absolutely the right choice for upping the level of dabs from the lightning pen imo.

Yep, the Matt's devices are very good, I have only a DTv4 with sic dish but it's perfect for my liking. I use it with bottom less banger.

I have had some problems with my lightning quest.

I have had an occasional atomizer short or atomizer low message. Would not happen all the time just very occasionally.

So tightened everything up. Still had the issue. I swapped mods, from the pico plus to my solo max and the problems went away.

Must be my mod. So i brought a new mod, pico 25. Problems came back.

I have to say the divine tribe discord has been very helpfull and very responsive to my questions.

At this point i have shelved the lightning quest, and brought a 2nd CUB. At some point i will swap the heater and completely rebuild it. However the CUB works so well, and has so many options, can i be bothered?

thanks for the info. I was mainly looking for the temp and “3-5 seconds” you mention. I have a BB and a Hubble and have been experimenting with both.

I’ve been starting at lower temps (420) and then bump up to 460 after a few hits. Finally bought a bubble cap, so results do seem to be improving.
What's a bubble cap?
Im waiting on a bunch of dtv5 shit and wanted to know if u think im missing anything lthat would make dabbing or vaping easier/more enjoyable?

I've almost completely quit smoking and batch bowls are the last thing stopping me from living a cigarette-free life lool after some thinking, i bought a couple disposable vapes to see if they were an option and realized i like live resin enough that it could be. I did aton of research and eventually settled on buying a dtv5 and the following add-ons (i am definitely gonna be putting in overtime hours for the next few weeks)

All in all, I have a DTV5 starter kit with 14mm BB, a Divine Tribe SiC Quest atomizer, 5 assorted Vortex tops, a 14mm hubble bubble, an 18mm hydratube, and a non-standard 40 cm magnetic breakaway cable cable coming in the mail sometime within the next 2-15 days lol

The DTV5 and several of the parts i listed are being shipped from within canada so they'll get to me asap whereas the rest are coming from the US and is going take 10-15 days apparently :/

I've never tried the lightning quest, but I've enjoyed putting the lightning pen atty on the cub. It's honestly a perfect 1 hitter for dabs at like 22 watts.

I've got the lightning quest and it does the job very well! Obviously it gets hot but I'd never use it for lots of back to back hits. This is for out-and-about having a few hits here and there and it's great at that. The sic bowl is easy to clean and my only criticism is that the air tubes in the top can easily unscrew themselves.

Very happy with the purchase and great value for money IMO.

...the bubble cap, is used to direct the airflow to the concentrate when using a bottomless banger, or the Core 2.0 ..
It's a 'carb cap'.
Much needed, to use a bottomless banger. Definite must-have. Or, something like it.
It basically won't work without a carb cap.
So, if the carb cap is not included with what u purchased, GET one.
The bubble cap is an excellent one, it's all I use. Reach out to Matt, to make sure u got carb cap.

EDIT: I see now , re-reading your post, that u say u have '5 vortex tops' so I assume those are carb caps.... :) :p !!

Wow. Just got the All Steel Top and XL heater cups for my V5 and I think this is close to perfect! The removable cap alone on the all steel top makes everything come together. With the XL Cup in place, the inner center of cap actually sits below the lip of the heater and keeps everything so much cleaner. No splatter outside the cup! After calibrating to a TCR of 180, the large cups work very accurately on my Pico. Can't wait to get my DNA mod in!

Lookah sells a "Lookah Seahorse Accessory Kit" It's a male 14/18mm male adapter on one side and a female 14/18mm adapter on the other. I've got my DTV5 attached to my Mobius bong.
