DaVinci IQ2 & IQ3

This is really a good vape, I find it odd it doesn't get more love. The flavor and cooling is really astounding considering how small the vape is. I love the portability of the pax but this is a much better product imo. Smart paths are a useful feature and hopefully we see more companies adopt it going forward. But, I have to agree with @BrianTL, efficiency is not a strong point of this vape. Overall, its quite good, I think (some) people hate it without even having used it. I do need to use it more I've only had mine a month, but so far I'm pleased.

It is a real good vape. I use 30% less material than I did with a Firefly 2+, which itself used flower miserly. I use the pods and find they are very efficient. I get 10-12 hits per pod and I use the IQ2 on demand rather than a session.

Hey there,

I just picked up one of these.

I am curious about two things:

1) do any of you use the flavor chamber? If so, how?

2) what is the best method for doing a burn off before use? Just put it on SP #4 a couple of times?

Thanks!

FWIW - I don't use the flavor chamber. I may be wrong, but I think on the Davinci site they have a video about burn off prior to first use. I have 2 IQ2s and I believe I set the devices to the highest temperatures until the timed shutdown. I may have done this twice. Never had an issue with smell. IMHO the IQ2 is grossly underrated.

Clean it with isopropyl alcohol the same way you would if it needed a good cleaning after multiple uses. Let dry, then run it at max temp as @Bazinga said with a fully charged battery till the battery is discharged. Davinci takes pride in their clean materials so once through should remove all offending smells. Enjoy your new purchase.

Note: Davinci has a good series of videos on their site that covers everything.

By not using it, have you removed it? Or just leave it empty?

I've never put anything in mine but always leave it in place. Removing it can lead to some issues I think.

I believe one timed session ( ~ 8 mins or so) at max temp is all thats required. Running down a full cell to empty is over kill IMO

BrianTL - I leave the flavor chamber in - as recommended. After a while it does get gooey. I clean it with ISO when I perform my routine cleaning. No issues.

Anyone ever try stirring the bowl while their IQ2 is on? I seem to get some really good hits when I do, its almost like it makes it overheat a little.

FWIW, I always stir and tamp conduction units. I get noticeably more vapor when different pieces of material come in contact with the oven. Really interesting some of you guys don't.

If your grind is consistent, it really shouldn't be necessary with efficient conduction. For the IQ2 I like a medium fine grind of course packed down, and now the zirconia spacers make it extremely efficient!

If a conduction vape has to be stirred, I think it has a poorly designed oven, I've only experienced a few of those myself... Mostly it is pure convection that needs the stirring, but even there I don't bother much anymore, technique can compensate and now there are some very effective designs that allow for easy even extraction.

It's possible my bowls in the IQ2 could produce more vapor if stirred, but it would be so minimal and taste so bad, I would never bother personally! Rather pack a fresh bowl

My only reason for stirring is for better hits, always seems like first few hits from a fresh bowl is good but then it gets weak. When I stir it while heating, it hits like the first few hits again. Only thing is if you stir it, you have to take stick out prior to heating or it will just stop heating when you open the top one.

Do you only stay at one temperature?

I go from 3 to 4 but now I just use 4 and wish it had a 5 setting.

Oh, smart paths? I use them a bit at first, but I just manually temp step now... I like to milk the low temp flavors so I start around 340F and go up by 8-13 at a time, often I finish below the max temp of 430F... Have you tried manually setting the temp instead of using SmartPaths? I did start at the high temps once or twice, too much vapor at once with a full bowl! Need to try again with the spacers now... I bet it will be great!

I have not! I will have to look up how to do that and try it.

I have held the button in before and let it ramp up to 430 but it seemed to not make too much of a difference. Dont have any spacers yet but plan on getting some If I can in the future, I didnt like the dosage pod that much so I just directly fill the oven and adjust the pearl as the bud eventually condenses.

Yeah there's no point in boosting if you are on SmartPath for, you are already cooking everything out pretty quick... Anyway all you have to do to adjust the exact temperature yourself is tap the power button once, that will set you into precise temp set, you may prefer to just stay at 430 for your usage.

Hey Team!

I've been lurking for a bit while I waited for my new IQ2 to arrive. Not going to lie, I was getting nervous after ordering, there's quite a lot of negativity surrounding this vape. But after a coupe days of getting to know how this little thing goes, I am thoroughly impressed!

I'm Coming from pretty much nothing but my vapcaps for more than a year. I have an old Da Buddah table top that I pull out from time to time, but it's been nothing but the Dyna for a long time.

After I stopped trying to hit this like a Dynavap, I really started getting great results. I'm only using the dosage pods, and run a select temp cycle just moving it up as I please. Going slow from heat up to draw really seems to be the pace, but after a few good pulls, what's the rush?

I love that there's so much to dial in for your own preference. For example, I really seem to like keeping the dial mostly or completely open. Most reviews seems to lean toward closed. I love that it's an option!

So far, I'm pleased. My worries about defects or faulty hardware don't seem to be an issue. I'm really stoked to have the IQ2, and I'll keep y'all updated on how it's going for me. Cheers!

Why doesn't this thread get more love?

I think in general, especially on reddit, people like to shit talk DaVinci and just assume its overpriced trash for some reason. Not entirely sure why...probably because at its price point people compare it to a mighty/crafty, which it isn't. That's okay with me, I much prefer the IQ2 anyway though.

For what its worth based on @Shit Snacks rec. I ordered up those zirconium spacer things. A couple weeks ago, first try went south, didnt get any vapor at all and burnt the shit out of my thumb after dropping the hot spacer into my garbage pail by accident, trying to grab it out before it started melting the plastic.

Even after coming to this thread and making sure I knew what I was doing before I tried it, I still put the spacers in wrong. Went for a 2nd attempt with the right way (flower in first, spacer on top between flower and pearl) and that was a game changer. I'd say the spacers brought the IQ2 back into a more regular rotation, seems to have really helped my efficiency issue because the full size oven was honestly just too much for me to use all of the time.

Love the transparency between the first go 'round and then that you went back in and was successful!

Yeah I accidentally left this out of a recent photo I had posted of my end game vapes, should totally have been included as it is in fact my ultimate session style vaporizer... Unfortunately I have still not been able to really test it properly portably yet since having received it during quarantine lockdown, but someday in the future that testing will continue! I think it will really shine in a lot of situations, and yeah the zirconia spacers complete it... What do you get the conduction vape that already has literally everything? Awesome spacers!

To add to the conversation, regarding air flow dial: I actually just finished a session of some tasty hypnotiq cookies bud mixed with some strawberry cake cbd herbs, I loaded the maximum amount possible with the large spacer so it was packed pretty tight and I left the airflow dial open the widest the entire time. Normally I would probably keep it halfway, closing it to finish off the bowl maybe, but the versatility is just astounding! Speaking of, I finished off this bowl through the O'Connell inception jayhook too:

I love using it on its own without any glass attachments though, because it is just so comfortable in the hands! Smart, beautiful, effective and efficient, IQ2 is truly the full package and a super sleek one at that...
