Discontinued Daisy vaporizer by Triihouse

Pics here

Trii is gone, if they were still around we would never consider doing this. Last I heard, Tommy is in LA working as a hair stylist and their wood workers left the industry. We reached out to their woodworkers and they had no desire to keep making the vapes.

The concept was awesome, we get emails every day asking when the daisy will be back. IMO this is a vape that needs to continue to be made and improved upon.
This is why I had to repost. I recall reading here or somewhere about you and others trying to contact Tommy with no luck. I can fully support someone filling the void and evolving on the concept.

Now what is inbetween the Tweezers? Please explain yourself!

I feel I should retract the last statement here. We know Tommy and Brenna were really nice people, however we also know that as nice as they were and as many freebies as they would include they just were not good on the financial side of things. We were all left in the dark when Triihouse went out of business but those of us following at the time probably learned that they had a serious amount of debt with puffitup and skipped town without paying their bill.

I was thinking this too at first when I read your post and the one by Yoosh but then I remembered the above. Tommy left this design dead in the water for anyone to pick up. He should be remembered but not martyred for his concept and designs. I personally would love to see someone from FC bring this vaporizer back and possibly get back to the evolving new designs with a similar concept as we were all hoping to see from Tommy. What do you guys think? Should we bring the pitchforks out or should we embrace this person/manufacturer like a hero?
How about a little of column a and a little of column b. Or maybe neither?

It's good to see the Daisy return. Sorry if my trepidation causes others discomfort. I just hope that everything is on the up and up. I wanted to point out that this WAS/IS someone's intellectual property.

Again, everything could be on the up and up, I'm simply a natural skeptical. Always gotta ask, "This seems great, but is it really?"

Edit: @PuffItUp OK, so then they aren't retaining rights to any patents? Or are they, and you're licensing the IP? I guess there's the third option of "patent never went through." Stoked to hear you have such a Daisy-hungry market waiting for this, though. What is the purpose of the hole bored down the center? Is it just to make it easier for people to put the device back together (I never had a problem, no matter how baked, but that's the only purpose I could think of).

What is considered on the up and up in this situation? Forget Randy's side of the story and just go with the fact that a company went out of business and is no longer responsive to the industry or community. What should someone have to do to pick up these pieces? What is owed to someone who drops the mic and walks away to never return? I am asking all this because I know what happens here on FC to manufacturer's. We put them through a gauntlet of moral compass yet most of us seem to feel free to have none when commenting on this site.

Take my post with a grain of salt. It's not intended at anyone person (even though I directly responded to you @ragnorokk ) but it does include myself.

Edit: The light between the tweezers is a freaking awesome idea. I often would use a flashlight to check the color of my herbs between draws or to see if I needed to stir. This would make things so much easier...and the cheap ass damn flashlight I use always has to be smacked around just to get some light...hopefully this little LED light is brrright!

I'll take it with a box of Morton's. I've seen many manufacturers go through the wringer here, but specifically PIU gets an all-day every day circle jerk on FC and Reddit, so I don't think you'll have to worry about Randy getting ripped to shreds. He's the golden child of vape sellers, so hopefully we weren't all on the verge of hatemongering, as he's pretty universally liked from what I've seen.

Moral qualms aren't what I was bringing up, but actual legal issues, like intellectual property and the entity to whom it belongs.

I've already sent a new acquaintance to check out the vape, so I'm certainly not poo-pooing the idea of picking up where someone left off; I'm curious how the IP was handled, in hopes that I'll feel right with the world if I send folks in Randy's direction to pick up a "daisylike."

I'd have the same stance if any producer picked this up, not dumping on PIU.

And for what it's worth, @PuffItUp , I'm super excited to see Daisy again, especially a WPA (though I wasn't sure if that's a WPA for the Daisy or just a version of the Triihouse style butane convection vape that will be wpa friendly).

I would believe the only thing here that could be considered 'Intellectual property' would be the names of the vapes and company itself. There is no new proprietary tech here to patent or hold/have any legal rights over.

Its a little light. I was vaped and playing with that light for way too long last night. Time well spent

The design isn't 100% finalized yet. FC should hear from the woodworker soon who is better suited to answer any design questions.

It is funny(not haha but ironic funny) how much thought we FC members put into a vaporizer purchase. Most of us own cars and wear clothes and buy gas, food and other services on a regular basis that we buy without one thought about the manufacturer/owner. We don't go to a forum to check out these items nor do we worry if they were the originator of a patent. Even more customized things we buy, like coffee makers and appliances we have around the house. A vaporizer is only an appliance as has been mentioned on these forums before. Do you know who designed/built your fridge? Did you do a background check before you bought it? Are you sure your toaster wasn't built by some 5 year old Asian kid just trying to make enough to feed his baby sister?

Don't overthink this, it is just more food for thought. I honestly don't judge any of you on how you decide to buy your appliances or on whether or not you morally investigate manufacturer's and even if I did...I am nobody so it wouldn't matter.

Design has changed to be a little more blocky like the original and they added a circular cutout at the center where the blocks come together. Everything else looks the same to me.

I also have to wonder if Triihouse gets anything out of this. I really think ingenuity like this should be compensated in a royalty format.

Other differences are the o rings, I see one using the steel tube unlike Daisy, and two for the mouthpiece unlike Daisy (old Daisy's didn't have intake o rings too, my newer one fits so snug I don't use it either). Also wood body is different, doesn't seem as smooth but a rougher cut, and the glass seems slightly different as well (at the very least I know people are excited about the ability to get spare glass parts again though!)

Its a little light. I was vaped and playing with that light for way too long last night. Time well spent

The light is genius Randy!

I emailed some suggestions, but I'll mention it here too, perhaps the bottom should be smoothed/rounded like the top is, since that is where you hold it and those uncurved sharp edges seem uncomfortable to hold honestly...

Digging the Hydro Brick! I've posted some shots here of my Daisy though water a few different ways, still need to post one with the hydratree but it limits visibility in use... your design may be better since it is it's own block that is longer and lower though, we'll see

Good Luck!

Edit:
It now has its own thread, so maybe this all should move there? I don't know

It looks the new hole might be a place to store the heat intake glass when not in use maybe? :2c: I don't know but either way I want the hydrobrick to add to my current Daisy!!

Hmmm, I wasn't around for when they disappeared so I don't know what really happened and I'm not sure how to feel about it. It sounds like everyone who used to be involved with it is done and moved on, if there no patent/legal issues I'm for it. I will love to see the design live on, it's just too bad the people who created it won't get anything out of it.

On a more selfish note I really, really hope they copy it enough so that the parts fit the daisy. I'd love to have a source of replacement parts and to use some of the cool stuff that will get developed for this.

Ahhhhhhhh....

This is hard to watch. Kinda like seeing your ex kissing another bloke in public.

...it feels wrong.

:2c:

:spidey:

Doesn't feel wrong to me? This is a fantastic thing! I love my OG daisy but unfortunately Tommy of Triihouse isn't producing them anymore. He is not going to lose anything from this nor will be upset by this from his own words on his way out. Pretty sure he would love the idea of someone picking up where he left off. There is no ill intent here, only good intentions of keeping a great idea going and even improving upon it. Now we can finally get these as gifts for people that drool over ours lol! Plus the Hydrobrick would be an awesome add on for the original Daisy owners.
I hope he comes out with a few more Triihouse like butane vapes myself! I'm buying if your selling ;)

...and that's OK. Move on( not from this thread) it's just I see your concern, no need to keep at it, we got it the first time.

I own logs besides the Eterra but it doesn't make me feel bad for the people behind the Eterra.

This other Vape was created out of demand.

Edit: I didn't mean to come off like a jerk, but I think it's a good thing happening. Especially for people that missed out on the Daisy.
I know not everyone will agree with what Sticky Brick is doing, but the demand was there. It is also a good thing because people can now get compatible glass replacement parts for their Daisy if they break them.

Not going to go into the intellectual property side of it, as I have voiced that opinion before... And that's when it wasn't just wood and glass that I'm sure can't be patented?

So super excited for this!!!!! Liking how the Mi can hit, but I hate the battery side.
I made a little J hook vape in the DIY section, the trill house line up was 200% the inspiration.

Well, I guess you could go get a haircut from Tommy and see if he will whittle you out an OG Daisy real quick while you are there? Other than that I guess you can either buy a Sticky Brick or none at all.

The point is Triihouse isn't losing any money because Triihouse isn't selling vapes. Triihouse doesn't even exist. It's not like this is uncommon. Another FC member did it with the Gnome recently, it's not about ripping off ideas, it's about not letting great ideas die!
Imagine if no-one else tried to develop an airplane because the Wright brothers had already done it? They all look like pretty similar designs to me? In Fact I think every single vape out there copies another vape in some way or another. It's the same with Chef's, They borrow recipes all the time and sell the food in their own establishment, it's not stealing, it's inspiration and flattery!

My point is that most things being sold today are not being sold by the person that first came up with the original idea, far from it. But that's life and we need people to continue to improve upon existing ideas and not just let them stay dormant because they were already thought of. :2c:

I had wanted a Daisy for a year before I finally was able to snag one from an FC member. I'm just glad that we are moving forward with flame powered vape production and not letting it fade away to all electrics and plug-ins. Now others can enjoy what we already have been, There is something special about a butane vape!!

I think the problem some are having is that it's almost an exact copy, minus the small circle in the middle. When a chef takes another recipe or such, they'd add their own flair and alter it slightly. While the Eterra was the first log vape, the underdog and enano and such have different heating elements, wood designer, accessories, etc. Not the case with these morally sticky bricks (aside from the hydrabrick), as they're just replicating a lost product.

That being said, personally that doesn't bother me AT ALL. In the "real world", reproducing a discontinued product may be frowned upon, but due to the uniqueness of our community and the knowledge of Tommy's situation I think it's different here. It'd be nice to get a statement from him, however as that's unlikely I just say vape on. The Daisy is a true masterpiece.

My one critique would be that if it's going to be so similar, it should just have the same name, ie "Daisy by stick brick" or something. Seems odd to create a new thread and market under a different name when it's so marginally altered from the original.

I did some wood waxing today and I was wondering if anyone waxed the wood inside the mp block below where the mp glass goes? The top part is pretty rough and dry, the bottom part has been getting some buildup so it isn't. I figure the vapor will make it so I don't have to wax in there.
