The heater cover is indeed making contact with the inside base (or more specifically, up against the screws of the clip). I'll try taking a dab with the heat all the way up. Not to say I don't trust your advice, but I could've sworn I saw some ember with my temperature knob at even 3 o'clock. Maybe it's due to using kief on my dabs? Or perhaps I'm just having a difficult time grasping the physics behind a flash vapor hit. Reporting back shortly after the test dab.temp should be at the very top.

Anything besides bho or well made full-melt bubble will leave some residual stuff that will smolder and burn a bit at the end. "Dirty dabbing" as it's known. It isn't because your keif or hash are bad quality, they just aren't refined enough to boil away entirely. The heater cover is indeed making contact with the inside base (or more specifically, up against the screws of the clip). EDIT: The entire dab was consumed pretty quickly, and it tasted better, but I still saw a couple of embers. Perhaps I'm just using bad home made hash.
EDIT 2: Tried again with quality bubble hash. It didn't taste very good and it looked like towards the end of the hit I was hitting ember off left-over hash residue that was on my nail.

The people who work at the dispensary don't seem too bright (or at least the people who run their site). And from what I've read, you're right, the vaporizer doesn't seem like it gets too hot for dabs. It's just confusing to see embers - even if the bulk of what I'm getting is a vapor hit. The taste just doesn't seem quite right to me.I don't use a a Da buddha, so I'll let someone who does offer specific advice. I can say too much heat is not your problem, I doubt the vape is even capable of getting too hot for dabs. I think the description the dispensary gives of their product says it all. It's not truly full-melt if it leaves burning material. I'd say try a teeny dab of your bho at high temp and see what you think. Do you have access to a traditional rig for comparison?

I think the ssv kit can get too hot to dab...at full temp when I try to dab the smoke hits a flash point or something and forms a fireball in the dome. I achieved this effect with mid quality bubble hash too. keep the knob 3 to 3.5 hours earlier than full blast and the fireballs disappear.
you must carefully moisten the tube at it's tip....
then you slowly and surely, force the tube inside of the DBV wand until it is in there about 1/4 inch.
Everyone has difficulty with that the first time~
