I didn't see that coil in the background of that video until I watched it a few times :)

It's not my favorite implementation but if it gets the job done...I had envisioned a mini-UTH. Not complaining just not what I had in mind.

I will say when I was using my pukinbeagle kit I put it on par with my EVO. The EVO has some drawbacks (but benefits, as well) that this resolved for me. I think this is a more natural way to use one's own pieces, for example, which I almost never did with the EVO in favor of the hydrotubes. Not to mention the EVO still has a SS mesh screen whereas this one can be all glass (or quartz) and concentrates are easier (to me) compared to the test tubes in the EVO. Using the EVO upside down on my own glass was always a catastrophe waiting to happen for me. And the balls just look cool as hell! I've got a rainbow of quartz, ceramic, rubies, and Zirconia of all different sizes :)

My lotus just suffered a blowout too, I've only been using the pack that it came with which worked fine for a few weeks then pop. Need to email them, but I may move away from this platform eventually. Thought this would be the last vape I bought, the search continues :shrug:

My enthusiasm is a little dampened after the breakage in this thread. I did notice that they always pack quartz balls in the bottom joint of the top. If that's required, they should probably just seal in some down there and leave the rest for experimenting with other media.

What temps are you using? I emailed them about mine today, hoping they will give me a better discount on the replacement than t he normal 20% off, but I will get getting a replacement either way (mine was the PB x Dnail, 2 months old).

Especially if folks are using the universal heater, something like Black Market Glass honeycomb quartz tube prototype (on their IG) might work better than a balls in glass combo....

Yeah, the first time I was too excited and didn’t read the note they packed in, just filled it with the zinc balls and went. But it did last longer that time, and I had been heating it @888 then just trying to get it up to initial temp. I had the bottom full of the quartz this time but didn’t even get one try.

I’m more sad than anything, it looks really good and the one bowl I managed to get roasted so far I really dug it.

Oof, that is rough and makes me not trust Dnail/Victoria glass quality. Or their R&D/QC for that matter.

Maybe I should take their quartz topper off my wishlist.

That’s interesting, because I have literally thousands of dollars of their work and it is all fantastic. You seem to favor BMG, we get it, that’s cool. You’ve said your piece, move along.

No, it was related to the Lotus fill. They advise to fill the base of the Lotus with quartz fill, and included a bag of quartz in addition to the media pack you opted for. The quartz avoids thermal expansion and in theory breakage of the housing. The first time I just filled the entire housing with zirconia.

I'm glad you've enjoyed your thousands worth of gear from these guys. But in terms of all-glass vaporizing, balls may not be the way to go. Or their design using balls needs some revision. For example, when freezing something in a Ball jar, they recommend using ones with straight sides and no shoulders due to added risk of glass breakage as liquids expand upon freezing. So maybe a cylindrical design would work better than a globe one. Or at least in the Pic of @637vape 's Broken Lotus that glass looked pretty thin. Tougher to say in your pic. And these are just different beasts than bangers, where they may have things mostly figured out.

But end of the day, this is the only breakage I've seen of anything put in the Universal Heater (and would be interested to know of any more from any company).

If you don't want to read "my piece" then you can hide my comments. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I didn't have a note like that and I didn't get any extra media :/ I'll repack mine with quartz on the bottom.

Cool story bro, where is the BMG quartz dry herb vape?

In terms of all glass vaping balls may not be the way to go? Have you ever used a ball vape? Have you been paying attention since inverted started putting balls inside glass and set off an entire revolution?

It absolutely boggles the mind that you’ve had multiple blow ups and suspensions in this community. :rolleyes:

Just to clarify the note came with the VGW versions, I don’t know whether they didn’t experience the same concerns with the Pukinbeagle version or if they just hadn’t decided on the advice yet. Either way I think it’s a good precaution!

Hmm, let's see. I've got a BO, B2, Kettle/Electropath (the king!), TKO (my fave outside of Kettle/Electropath combo), Qaroma, Taroma, Ceroma, Old Head Hot Rod, CC Omega, CC Zeal. So you could say I'm familiar...

And at the end of the day, I really just want a great DHV all-glass option that works great with the Universal Heater. And one that doesn't risk hot balls everywhere. Troy's story about his experience with that did not sound fun (forget what baller that was with).

Sorry, you seem to have wandered into the middle of a sidetrack. I have already mentioned inverted and the origins, the distraction here is a BMG fanboy who takes every possible opportunity to bag on D-Nail/VGW and proclaim that “maybe” one day you too can level up to some BMG gear…who is actually coming in here trying to pretend that BMG is going to innovate dry herb vaping apparently :shrug:
