Custom Glass Ideas/Designs Thread

Lol. Yea, idk if it has an official name, but it seems to be some sort of bubbler chamber / splash guard, so I called it a splash chamber. Saying "that little glass ring" every time, was both confusing, and annoying lol.

I'm trying to see when the full sized pillar should be ready. We all decided on the best design for if already, so hopefully it doesn't take too long.(Unanimous for the bubbler-style neck and flared mouthpiece/slightly larger intake joint)

Also, all the pores don't have to be called fc-***. They can be something else. If you guys don't like fc-186 (even though the only difference is the swapping of one matrix for a pillar section, maybe we can just call it the Matrix Pillar, since that's what it is.

Dude, I've gotta disagree that it's just swapping one matrix for pillars...
It's functionally entirely different...

It quite literally has no functional similarities to a stereo matrix...

Standard matrix to pillars vs reverse matrix to inverted matrix...

I've just been thinking of it as the "large pillar"
But having seen the prototype pics, "matrix pillar" seems to be more appropriate, as it doesn't seem all that much bigger than the mini pillar.

I kind of like the FC badge pieces get- gives it a bit of flavor for members. Maybe call it something like the FC-187 Pillar XL [although it may end up being called LL because that is their xl sizing, lol] (call the other the FC-187 pillar mini). Not that the matrix pillar shouldn't be in the title, as I would guess it would attract more non-FC attention. Or just call it another fc-___ altogether, like maybe the FC-287- would give it a distinction from the other model and somewhat be representative of the added pillars.

Not just function, but the overall shape of it. It's supposed to feel like a gb-186 in terms of ergonomics.

But, I would be perfectly fine wih not calling it the fc-186. I think the Matrix Pillar sounds better anyway.

Since there is no existing pillar piece on there to take a number from, FC-Matrix Pillar works well. It keeps fc in the title, and describes the piece well.

I'm not sure why anyone is saying it's going to have a bent neck though, instead of a bubbler style one, when we unanimously agreed on bubbler style.

I agree, only that there should maybe be a naming distinction between the two pillars coming out so that people know the size difference. I mean if i was at a [8] I know I'd have some trouble at first (if I had not read this thread, and was looking for knockoff pillars on dhgate as a non-FC member) figuring out which I want based on needs/size, which may dissuade potential buyers (and this would seemingly be a large demographic, people who stumble or happen upon the store and have limited glass knowledge). Even a mention of the size (3ft vs the 1 or 1 and a half foot, sizing on @blankrider 's one escapes me atm) at the end of the posting would help less knowledgeable buyers.

Alright, so the new pillar is out, but due to someone else' efforts to get the bent neck, Steven has currently only listed one with that.

I have contacted him about changing it to the one everyone here voted on unanimously, or to at least offer both like he said he was going to. I'll let you guys know what happens.

If he can't do it, someone else has told me they can, so I am waiting to give him the chance since he was the first to be willing. We'll see.

At least it looks like he took my advice on the base size increase. I also messaged him about making sure the intake joint fits our vapes (a little bigger).

Looks like he might be putting the splash chamber onthe mini-pillar now, too..?

I also notified him of the function problem with the Incycler, and showed him a video of how it is supposed to work, so he doesn't go and make a bunch like this, that he can't sell.

Here is a size comparison pic of the two pillar pieces using the seat as size reference, since that is the only thing that's the same in both pictures. Of course, the camera distance/angle would have some effect as well, but they look pretty similarly positioned, so this might help a bit. The mini pillar isn't just a scaled down piece apparently. It has a different size ratio between the pillar chamber and the top chamber.

That's great news!

Any word on joint size or height of all of the new pieces?

Also any idea if they are going to redo the Torus Incycler since it doesn't function properly?
Yea, the bubbler neck is much better for the pillars because if you can't see the percolation, you miss the best part of the piece.

I notified him of the functioning error with the Incycler, yesterday. He hasn't commented on it yet, but hopefully he does before they make a bunch.

Let us know if you find out joint size and height of all the new pieces too. I think a bunch of us have been wondering that

Who else would be interested in affordable vaporizer whip adapters from DHGate? Or, what about a knockoff of the popular SSV wand?

Whip adapters are always useful since if we're not trying to get a vaporizer attached to a whip, we're often trying to attach the whip to glass. I never say no to no one about no adapters, never ;)

As far as a SSV wand knockoff, I think it could perform without having nearly the length of glass for the whip to fit in (thinking it was made long since people hold it when using it with a SSV, not nearly as much with an EQ).

I think one of the reasons the SSV whip is popular is its length, as a long section of glass is preferable for reclaim to gather on, rather than in a whip, especially if you use silicone.

At least with mine, the whip fits inside a good amount of that glass tube that would otherwise collect claim. I insert the tubing and it stops and fits snugly towards where the colored splash is made, just above the ground joint. Do people fit the tubing via some other fashion?

Hmmmph. Edit: My tubing is a bit loose to fit snug just at the end - I have to insert it until it stops, but it gives a firm, airtight connection. Either my end is wider (!) or my tubing is a bit smaller (?)
