In the end, 14mm and 18mm is only 4mm of diameter. How much of a difference can it make when it's only purpose is to allow a smooth inhale? I wouldn't think twice about it. Get whatever you're personal preference is. :)

What, that he will answer questions or that they should function the same?

Because it seems like I was somehow lucky to receive a response. Have you read @Deadshort480 most resent posts in the CGD rant thread?

I have not paid Cory a penny and got a response in like an hour while people who have paid up have not heard shit. Some people have stuff done that just needs to be shipped and has not for some reason.

And please people quit making excuses for him and feel some sympathy for the poor people getting the cold shoulder. That shit just ain't right

Once he's been payed and the specifications have been given, that's it. To further attempt to contact him is just going to be annoying. Artists will understand. It isn't a 'job' or a normal transaction. Respect the process and don't get too social about it. If you want to call it 'excuses' then that's your perogative, but be patient or don't bother going after a high quality custom piece for an incredible pricetag ;)

I'm going to compile a list of people that have got stuff from him successfully, those who are waiting for their piece after payment and those who are at any other stage of contact with him just so that potential new customers and existing customers can feel as if they know where they are at in regards to expected time wait for their stuff to arrive or be created :)

I have like three different start/re-start dates on my order from more communications drop than a Sprint tower. Basically, I have no idea, but June 11 is probably more accurate. :worms::zombie::shrug:

Edited it to June 11th :) If I was to really factor in the full experience.. I chatted to chitownboro about a piece for 2 weeks and when i found out it wasn't Cory, I messaged Cory and started the convo from scratch.. Took 2 weeks to get a reply, then another 3 weeks of convo (that could have easily been done in 5 minutes.. haha) and finally payed this week.

From the looks of it, 1 month if i'm lucky, but 2 months+ is a possibility. Any more than that and i'd be very unlucky I think. I KIK messaged him to say that I had payed his invoice just 2 days ago and he hasn't even seen my message yet lol.

What do you mean no net? As in; you're on your own? It's 100% between you and Cory and there is no guarantees? Saying shit like that makes me very nervous, lol.

Well did you think the Federal Reserve would step in to refund your money if Cory was abducted by aliens? Really. A glass fairy godmother?

The glass fairy godmother, yes. Obviously..
Federal reserve? That's a bit far fetched..

the fact that I got an answer and so quickly did not even make me feel good, just made me feel bad for everyone who cannot get the time of day.

I don't understand why some of you have made it your duty to stand up for his extremely poor communication. I have worked with many artist and read many experiences from other people and this is not normal no matter how much you guys claim it is. Artist can be touchy and finicky people but still capable of taking a minute to answer simple questions. They also usually give their products to the customer upon completion instead of stringing them further along.

ordered early april or late march :D came end mayish
I think done for end of april, but some shipping error postponed it a couple weeks

i totally get that the communication would be a throw off. I'd be honestly surprised if some people didn't wanna cancel orders, and definitely wouldn't throw the dart if i came in now and read the thread, and never had a good (lucky stars thanked) experience.

P.S That said, still have no piece as good as this. If i was upfront told I wouldn't get this piece for three months, i'd still gladly wait 3 months and just go on with life and have a great surprise when it comes. put two daily drivers that are like 300$ more to bed with CGD recycler

We're here to fuck shit up.
If all this is being discussed, what is the other thread for? @Deja Vu, let's not forget that I am not waiting for a piece to be created, just for it to be shipped.

I'm just curious why you make excuses for Cory? Yes, he's an artist, but he does not seem to be the super sensitive poet artist that we see in movies. You could make the argument that any person that creates something with their hands is an artist, but that doesn't mean they're allowed to ignore their paying customers. There is no excuse to ignore your paying customers.

I just want a fucking text message letting me know what the hell is going on. I am patient to a point and then my patience goes right out the window and I become extremely impatient.

The other thread in hindsight was a bad idea, my bad. The trickle of cgd pieces that are making it to FCers are always going to be dwarfed by the folks waiting in line. If we dedicated this to the work, the thread wouldn't be on the first page much.

Sorry to repeat, but I swear I saw that horse twitch. :horse:

Expectations. Just give me an idea of timeline or where we are in the process. That's it.

If life is truly that chaotic and fluid to where there's no idea of finish or ship times, then I'm OK with that, if that's the case. But if some of it is just avoidance, then at least have the decency to make up an excuse. Here's a few for future reference. And yes, I'd rather hear any of these than vast silence.

1. My turtle got sick and we had to drive her to a specialist out of town. I'm 2 wks behind.
2. Bruised ribs doing rad skate moves. Wife will pack your piece, ship in next wk.
3. Psycho -ex broke in and stole my torch. Will be down for a week.
4. Check out my new tats! Yeah I'm giving up blowing for inking. Here's your money back.
5, Car broken into, 5 customer pieces stolen. I'm 2 months deep in re-blows. Want refund or to wait?
6. Sorry I love FC but life has got crazy follow your dreams. There's a guy name Bird I can recommend who loves to work for $.
7. I didn't know how to tell you, but I don't do wig-wags or slyme any more. They're tacky and beneath me. Go away!

:whip:

Let me know when one of you guys cancels an order already in queue. I will try to jump in and take the order over from you. That might save me some time...

If you cut in line in front of me, prepare for kumite.

As I was just tagged in a post on this topic, I figured I'd pop in as someone who had a successful transaction with Cory. His communication is definitely not good. It was probably better for me than for those who are currently waiting, as I'm sure he's only gotten more slammed with custom orders. Here's a quick rundown of my communication schedule:

5/8: Contacted Cory and asked him for a quote on the piece I wanted.
5/10: Cory replied with a price.
5/11: I told him I wanted him to blow the piece, asked if he took Paypal.
5/11 2.5 hours later: He asked for my email to send an invoice, told me the piece would take "a few days" to make. I replied with my email, told him no problem.
5/12: Cory messages to ask what size joint I wanted, he forgot. I responded within a half hour to give him details.
5/18: After a week of no contact from Cory after I told him the joint size I wanted, I messaged him saying "no pressure, not pestering, just checking in."
5/18 1.5 hours later: Cory replies and says he's almost done, the piece should be done tomorrow.
5/21: Cory sends me a picture of my recycler with a note saying it's done. I reply and tell him it's beautiful, etc.
5/23: Still having not received an invoice, I message Cory and ask if he's tried to send one yet.
5/27: Cory messages almost a week after finishing the recycler to tell me that he was looking everywhere in his Paypal for my payment, and asks if he didn't send me an invoice. Then says he's sorry he must have forgotten to send the invoice, but my recycler is done and packed up and can be sent out that night. I paid the invoice and sent him a message telling him so within 2 hours.
6/2: No contact from Cory and no package, so I message to ask whether he has a tracking number for the package that I can have. At that point I assumed it had gone out on 5/27 like he'd indicated, so I was starting to worry that it hadn't arrived. An hour later, Cory messages to tell me that he sent out the recycler the night before (6/1) and it would be delivered Wednesday, 6/4.
6/6: Recycler finally arrives after a delay by the USPS.

One thing I should mention here, that I'd hesitated mentioning before, was that anyone dealing with Cory may want to offer to pay extra for more secure shipping options. My recycler was mailed in a padded envelope! My heart seriously dropped when I saw it, as the envelope was obviously a little torn up, but it did make the trip intact (a testament to his workmanship, no doubt). He charged me $150 shipped for the piece (which is INCREDIBLE), so I'm not surprised corners were cut on shipping costs, but I would have gladly paid $10 more to have it sent in a cardboard box and reduced the possibility of breakage in transit.

Despite the communication difficulties and delays I experienced, I must say, my CGD recyclers are my favorite pieces. The custom recycler I bought via the exchange above is an absolutely amazing piece of glass. I love it and would cry if I broke it. I'm very glad that I was able to follow the process through with Cory. For what it's worth, he seems like a good guy, just a busy, scattered guy who is experiencing an insane surge in demand for his work.

If you can navigate the process successfully, I doubt you'll be disappointed with the end result.

@Meghan thank you for sharing your experience with us in full. It definitely illuminates some of the issues that others have been having. And brings new ones to light. A padded envelope, seriously WTF.

I am very glad that it arrived safely. It seems almost like putting people through hell makes them all the more grateful when they actually receive their glass months later

You have GOT to be kidding. All that work, and can't even break out a box and the wrap? Shit cheap dhgate sellers should give him a seminar. @Meghan can you tell me if it was at the least insured? This is a serious flaw! Not the time to cut corners. So... Joe Mailman gets back at an FCer by kicking a package around. FCer gets an envelope full of glass salad....

A) It's insured, buyer gets money back, and..heads to the back of the line or takes money elsewhere.
B) Not insured, Cory eats cost via refund or chargeback. Cory no happy.
C) Not insured, transaction took too long for pp case. Buyer no happy.

I just KIK'd Cory about this. I am pinching myself in disbelief.

FYI, my last msg from him was 6/23. Whoever's keeping the timeline, I checked and our exchanges started on 5/28/2014 and design approved/final 5/30.

Ouch. I would hate to back out, almost as much as being out the money.

So unless he's got something against me, it looks like the wait can easily go past the chargeback period. Good luck everyone. And if I get burned, the bad PR will far exceed my cost.
