i tend too watch anthony bourdain's no reservations all vaped.
Hells yea! Anthony Bourdain is great!! Did you get a chance to see the episode where he is in Jamaica on the beach. he says something along the lines of "I can't talk about what the island has some real fame for and I can't show you either, so here is a nice view of the sunset while I prepare for dinner" then the camera pans out to the water, Tony coughs off camera and smoke drifts past the screen. Then they go eat.DevoTheStrange said:i tend too watch anthony bourdain's no reservations all vaped.
HAHA I wouldn't have to Travel very far... haahhaDevoTheStrange said:his show got me thinking "man wouldn't it be awesome if you had a show that was similar but instead of traveling the world looking for good eats, your traveling and documenting good herb"
Oh WOW I completely forgot about "Down by Law" 4 of my favorite entertainers,.. TomWaits, John Lurie, Roberto Benigni.. and who couldn't like Tom Waits? Directed by Jim Jarmuschindigal said:Watched "Down by Law" for the first time. Great movie to watch with a projector & screen, vaked. I realized I really need to buy better speakers.
not only do you like Tom Waits but your in Indiana as well,... the corn thing caught me. I am in South Bendindigal said:Big Waits fan, saw him live in Knoxville (nice town btw.)
I have seen Fishing with John!! Forgot about that one, there were only a few made.. think I may have caught just the episode with Tom Waits, and the ice fishing one with Dafoe. I was 13 when Down by Law came out, so I think it just missed my radar entirely.
I know that city, go to High On the Hill and tell Gerry Bruce sent you.indigal said:Yep- dead in the middle of the city in the center. I however will hang on tooth and nail to my east coast upbringing in NJ, moved here when I was 20. Had to learn how to make a proper thin crust pizza pie!!
Hollywood has felt it necessary to remake this movie in english, I hope they don't butcher it.lwien said:Just saw, Let the Right One In, a Swedish vampire flick. If you're into this genre, it's worth checking out. Very good film.

Thanks! Just put that in my queue on my library requests..lwien said:Just saw, Let the Right One In, a Swedish vampire flick. If you're into this genre, it's worth checking out. Very good film.
The Blu-Ray has an option to view it in Swedish with English subtitles or in English, dubbed. I switched back and forth, but again, the Swedish with English subtitles is soooo much better. One of the things that I noticed with films that are dubbed, is typically the voice over artists are at the same distances from the mic regardless of film content, which really throws things off. You just don't get the audio spatial clues when things are dubbed.
But yeah, unless it's made by an Indie, Hollywood will make this film for the typical American market, and as such, will lose that thing that makes foreign films like this so special. The Swedish version was beautifully filmed in a minimalistic kind of way with a great soundtrack and very few special effects. Just great story telling with great cinematography. Highly recommended.
After you watch this, could ya do me a favor and report back if you thought that it was a happy ending or a sad ending. For me, it was both. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.indigal said:Thanks! Just put that in my queue on my library requests..
Yeah, except that Osker could very well turn out to be like the old guy that she was living with. That older guy could have very well been just like Oskar many years ago. They very well could have had the same kind of relationship.DevoTheStrange said:i thought it was a happy ending.
Ah.........see, now I got to get the book. Is it a good read?DevoTheStrange said:in the book the old man is explained, and plays a larger part than in the movie. He is an extreme pedophile. Eli tolerates him because what he can do.
Sounds like it. Thanks a bunch.DevoTheStrange said:yes. better and darker than the movie
