Edit: Separated the swiveling bowl for cleaning. Someone at Entheos was a fan of the Haze Square! Those teardrop shaped flow redirectors are clever, almost like a gear down mechanical linkage, flowing from wider diameter bowl while changing direction to smaller tube. These two bowl parts are either ceramic or super dense PEEK, they absorb most of the vapor's heat during this turbulent flow direction and width compression changes, ouchy ouchy, don't touch me there

I usually don't turn mine off, you can leave it on and lock the device by clicking fire three times.

Ah so if you were to let it sit without use for long periods of time (days or even weeks) the battery would slowly drain, hopefully not an issue for most people if so (and hopefully no ill affect to the screen here, as another mod I had became too dim from this issue)

Let me put out engineering marketing mumbo jumbo haha

The convex design features three distinct concepts:

1.) Air Intake and Vapor Exit Heat Exchange: Incoming cold air interacts with the outgoing hot vapor. In theory the incoming cool air helps cool down the outgoing hot vapor and vice versa, the outgoing hot vapor helps pre-heat the incoming cold air that goes to the heater.

2.) Residual Heat Recycler for Heating Efficiency: As per the photo you see above, the intake of the ceramic piece is actually not visible, this is because it is located on the other end from where the visible inlet is. What this does is air is forced to pass along the whole outer surface of the ceramic housing before making its way to the heater. In theory, the incoming air picks up lost residual heat before even getting heated by the coil itself.

3) Slow Roast Bowl: As per Bernoulli's principle, which states that in a pathway with varying volumes, the fluid (air, in this case) passes slower where the volume of the pathway is larger. So in theory, the heated air passing through the material slows down while going through the bowl, which contributes to the design's powerful extraction.

Sorry but I have yet to confirm if there is any battery drain going on when leaving the batteries inside when not in use. Most of the time with my personal units, I leave the battery in and no signs of screen damage. I don't think there is much battery drain if any at all actually.

Ha don’t mean to incite or do I? Can’t help it, I get excited when I’ve found a vape that makes vaping H2O hash easy, effective and practical. Because H2O bubble and dry sift aren’t as pure as other “modern” concentrates, it makes it rather difficult to vape them effectively and they’re very few vaporizers that can do it well and dry herb too

Love reading about the science and engineering behind the device and how it cools itself and uses the excess heat to pre- heat the air. Also, thanks for the pic of the insides, wanted to see that without taking apart the device yet.

One of the best examples of cooling/pre-heating air intake recycling like the ConVex was the Ghost MV1 vaporizer (RIP). It’s heat-sink mouthpiece assembly pulled cool air in, simultaneously pre-heating the incoming air to the oven by picking up excess heat as it passed around the heat sink and cooled the heat sink in the process

Just received this unit today and I am very pleased. The function is really phenomenal right out of the box, I had no issues diving right in. I really enjoy the design and find it very easy to use.

As stated the stock screen in the chamber is very flimsy and falls out very easily. Another thing is the battery door, it is not attached firmly to the device. If I were taking it out I would consider putting a rubber band around the door.

Really a great vape and so far see it behind a top portable within the personal collection.

How would you describe the vapor experience? Is it like a more portable Bowle? Might you have a chance to try it with hash? Cheers mate

What problems are you having currently? How can I help you?

The 'No Liquid' error is a bug that we've encountered as well and something that we've brought up multiple times to YiHi, the chip manufacturer that supplies us with the chips. It usually disappears after a coil reset or sometimes just taking out the batteries. The 'no liquid' is the chip's built in dry fire protection for mod vapes intended for e-cig liquids which we have specifically asked to be deactivated but somehow it forces itself back on during rare occasions.

It seems that the metal stem was not put in correctly in your video.

Received ConVex 1.0 today, just tried it once, but here are my first impressions

Very clever, very small, very effective

Still needs work with "fitment" issues, a bit janky when opening battery/stem door, especially by accident. Maybe a more secure vertically aligned rail system with better magnets?

I tried Bowle pot after reading prior posts with a beta unit. I couldn't close door with pot inside. So, I used S&B capsule, it fit just fine. This pivoting bowl door/hatch reminds me of the old DaVinci Ascent bowl swivel out design. Clever solution for Bowle-like top-down heated air, without a removeable stem, however the Bowle's design is easier and more stable IMO

Vapor is surprisingly cool, and vape's base gets quite warm after a while. That warmth means the right angle turns to stem are doing their expected vapor cooling job. Leather case would be nice I suppose. Seems like an easy disassembly, iso soak parts, steel and glass

I sliced wrap on battery inserting, and bent the slicing contact "spring" in the process. Positive up, but that's where the spring is...no spring on negative side where I expected it. So, need to push up battery against upper positive side first, then push in. Oops. Had to pry little spring out to make contact after my blunder. Suppose I shouldn't use that battery any longer

I'm mod-challenged, but this unit came set a 210C, so I went for it. Difficult to do a burn-off with this design, at least for me. I did cigar puffs to reduce the nasty off-taste. Every heated coil vape seems to stink in beginning

Push and hold to fire and draw, pretty simple. Warmup fire for 5 seconds before drawing is helpful

Nice advantage I noticed with ConVex so far -- requires shorter duration draws than other convection portables I've used, good clouds, AVB is toasty, no stirring of course with capsule

glass stem is height adjustable with little notches, can lower completely for pocket. Other than the Hopper, this may be the smallest and lightest on-demand convection vape?

Absolutely loving this vape. Battery life isn’t great but similar to the TinyMight 2 and Bowle but I like the form, design and vapor of the convex. I think there is potential to make upgrades down the road, like different stems with cooling and filtration features, different coils and bowl assembles that could be made from different materials and/or include cooling “mazes” and heat-sinks like Crafty, Mighty and Venty Cooling Units. I’ve been looking for a small modular vape that can be fixed and maintained for years like replacing a coil or battery, which isn’t always possible.

Yes, we will be offering extras for most parts of the assembly eventually.

We do acknowledge the issues that users address mainly the battery door and sliding mechanism due to tolerance issues caused by manufacturing errors and miscommunications.

We've been developing our designs under the radar (aka sacrificing pay) for some years already but for now we need to make profits to keep things afloat. Our heating system was intentionally designed with component versatility and upgradeability in mind but as a small start-up we don't have yet the financial capability of materializing all our ideas.

If everything works out for us, we still have a lot of ideas in store for the development of our design and dry herb heat extraction in general.

Any plans for a concentrate bowl/insert? Still been my daily driver for dog walks and solo sessions. I saw some talk on Reddit about getting one of these bad boys to a professional reviewer. I think that’d be a wave of hope for sure. I might grab some hash to try sometime. I’ve never smoked hash before so I wouldn’t have any comparison unfortunately.

I want this, it’s form factor and performance/function look great, but the materials and build quality don’t work for me. Maybe aluminum with wood panels and I would have already thrown money everywhere.

We're most likely going to segment this heating system into two categories in the future. One will be the basic spec with mostly high grade plastics (without compromising vapor quality of course) so we can keep final product cost low.

Then we will have a "premium" spec which will use combinations of ceramic pieces, aluminum panels and designed to also accept aftermarket customizations like wood panels. It most likely will get a more sophisticated air and vapor path design as well.

I like the sounds of the “premium” spec. Definitely would be interested in one of those!

For the people with a unit in hand, how difficult/confusing is the interface to change the temperature? I see that there is a wattage setting as well. Is it easier or harder to get a hang of than the FW vibration interface?

I'm curious why you would compare it to that? It seems more similar to tetra and bak standard mod style temperature control software with screen and buttons...?
