the couple of times i winterizes pressed hash, i ended up with strong sappy dark flavorless dabs.
i dissolve it in about an 2 inches of everclear in the bottle at above room temperature.
after its fully dissolved, the put the bottle in the freezer. Have more clean alcohol in the freezer.
after a day, it will have turned milky and thicker. Ready for filtering.
after pouring the stuff into the filter, i pour a little clean cold alc into the bottle it came from, give a quick shake and pour that into the filter too. (the little details to keep things clean, up your yeild)
here is where i learned that the paper filters for my AeroPress clog too fast. Stacked stainless steel (10 & 50 micron) screens solved that.
I just ordered my first case of Puretane on the recommendation of @mvapes. Is his stuff that much better than Capital? I also see that Capital is selling a blend now. N-Butane 88% x 12% N-Propane. I remember reading somewhere that "some extraction artists prefer to use a blend of N-butane and N-Propane. They believe N-Propane helps to extract some of the terps that escape N-butane."

just keep getting the "we already shipped that out" statement. the solvent is fine... but standards are lacking in customer service....
at any rate, as to weather N propane is helpful I know people are getting into making strait up PHO and really like it... so one can discern there is something that could be useful with its inclusion... but that could be as large a difference as butane heads and iso heads... got your propane heads perhaps.

I have some bho I blasted into a small amount of iso that came out looking exactly like peanut butter. I purged it in a water bath 1 hr, heat pad 6 hrs spread very thin, then let it sit out for a couple of days. No vac. It's my 2nd attempt and it seems decent enough (maybe a little carbonated spritzy feeling in my nose through dr. Dabber ghost pen).However, there is no wax in my area and I've never tried legit bho so I've nothing to compare it to. It does have a little strange taste to me (not knowing what it should taste like). Anyway I have some kleen extract on the way and some 99 iso in the freezer and I was wondering if I could clean it up using the kx or iso and if so what method is generally used? I vaguely remember reading I could dissolve the bho in ethanol, freeze a couple of days and then filter.... I also have 50 and 10 micron screens on the way. Thanks for any advice it is very much appreciated.

Let me say also ... peanut butter consistency as in looks it doesn't have the feel of it. It feels like silly putty / play dough consistency to touch. It breaks off clean and it comes of a dabber easily. If any of that changes your assessment. Please let me know.Leads me to think it is not fully purged.
@freshly baked - peanut buttery can be two very different things.
Greasy peanut butter similar to organic is BAD! That's tane soup.
Here's a photo of bho wax I made. It's dry, covered in crystal and as I've mentioned earlier in the thread, wax should taste dank.
Wax is tough to get right. Stick to shatter bro, and master butane before getting into solventless extractors.
The tane part is easy, you HAVE to learn to trap the terps if you want success.
I also know the temperature in your area, long term air purges are not going to be in your favor at the moment.
We're all at the mercy of our environment. I was the same way, I wanted to try so many different techniques but I never ran decent material until I gave in and just got good at one way first.
I had plenty of tane soup in my day. Now that shit scares the fuck out of me.

The wax is more like cold caramel than peanut butter actually, it's kind of hard and dry on both my 1st attempt and my 2nd.
I'm hoping I have a sensitive taste to bho as I've read several others on fc say they didn't think it tasted very dank at all (no disrespect M vapes I know your the man).. saying it had a chemical taste and supposedly they were referring to dispensery goods.
Am I vaping very bad stuff or is it decent enough to use up?
Can I dissolve the wax type in kleen ex then freeze a couple of days and strain off thru 50 then 10 micron being careful not to disturb the sediment and improve the wax type? I respect you guys and know many of you are at the top of your game. Try to think back to when you were a noob and with all of your gained knowledge and experience. ..what would you do? wax typically occurs when high heat and humidity are present. concentrates in certain pens can build up a foul taste... really the only person who can judge is you...This was my first bho run ever. Left is run 1 right run 2.

does it give you a terrible headache and make you kinda sick? if so its underpurged... not all strains taste good but it shouldn't give you a massive headache and such...
I think anyone who questions their own quality seriously... probably knows the answer to their own question.
as the old saying goes... when in doubt...
not trying to knock you, we have all been there when we realize we just didnt get it totally purged... and some times shit just gets waxxy... the call is yours though... but someone is usually here to help... in a stoned minute of course lol.
edit: and yes you can re dissolved it in ethanol and winterize the solution and re purge after filtering. I see good results with a 25 micro as I understand it the 10 tends to clog quickly.

Thanks @farscaper. It doesn't give me a headache or make me cough Unless I take a huge hit. The herb is great but it in itself, it has a almost cat shit taste (that's what I been calling it) lol..
Even in the mighty it's not as pleasant as I'd like. It's skunky... almost too skunky. The only way it taste good is in the herbalizer. Hopefully that's my bad taste but I'm going to winterize it and go from there. Does the waxy kind in the picture "look" done? I broke it in half hoping that would help to judge . I know you cant go on looks alone of corse. Just curious. Thanks again

Next we have 2g of Yummy from 9.5g of Sour Diesel(different source).
More realistic yield @ 20%
One more 22g run to do, 11g of which is a mix of fluff and kief. Should be nice.

Wow incredible return on the first one! Was is from sugar trim or nugs...?
Edit: Just saw the "fluff" so my answer changes to popcorn.
It is all really nice nugs. The "fluff" was a bag, mostly of kief, but it had a bunch of "hairs" and some random chunks of bud. Return was over 32% by weight. 22g in and 7g out. (High concentration of kief accounts for the high yield.). This was my highest yield by percentage.
