Thanks again to JCat for coming forwards and being amazing.
I will be sure to try and keep you guys updated once the bamboo has made its way over here (hopefully intact) and how I go replacing the bamboo following lazylathe's helpful instructions.

Hello all,
after a long hiatus from FC i have come back. i stumbled across this thread and i am hoping someone here can help..... I received an OG cloud (non ticking) and loved it. unfortunately one day when it was upside down in my bubbler, the bubbler got knocked over. the bubbler survived but my cloud did not. The cloud still turns on and heats up but the top of the glass is broken:

i basically put it in a drawer and went back to my DBV. upon returning to FC and seeing this thread i thought i would pull it out, snap some pics, and pray that i get a reply from someone that they can repair it. keeping my fingers crossed that someone will make my day even brighter with some good news

thanks
Menz

Hey there, since the members here were so kind to me when I was in this position. I think it's only fair I pass on the favor.

When my cloud was broken exactly in the same way of yours I thought that was the end,
if you're lucky you can find a replacement from another member on here or have a glassblower make one.

If you're less lucky you will have to buy a new Cloud.

I'll show you the option that really helped me still enjoy my cloud just like it was before.
Your cloud is still usable (and in my opinion better) with a few steps.

Here's a photo of the setup.

What you need :
- 18MM FEMALE GONG TO 18MM MALE GONG (look on dhgate.com) *in mine I use an 18mm female to female and an 18mm male to male because i don't have a female to male gong*
- High grade silicone vaporizer whip
- 18/14MM male gong to attach into your water pipe (whatever size your gong joint is)

Step 1. Turn your cloud OFF and Clean with ISO/ALCOHOL wipes. Wipe the inner tube and the outside of the unit.
There can't be any possibility of inhaling fragments of glass as this can lead to Silicosis or other medical issues.

Step 2. Load the Herb Chamber (ELB) and place in the Cloud Unit;
this will take some getting used to but essentially the goal is to put it in at the same depth that it would usually sit. If you place it all the way in the chamber it will be too close to the heater and be too hot.
(This is something you can experiment with, try turning down the heat and placing it lower in the chamber for a thicker hit that has more 'conduction'.
I find sitting the bowl just at the very top of the glass joint provides a delicious almost pure convection hit.

Step 3. Place the female gong on top of the Vapexhale Clouds broken connection
(you may have to hold it in place, on mine it stays in place, by the looks of your break yours should stay in place.)

Enjoy...

How would one break this inner bamboo? I'm interested in the Evo and I am curious. Are they easy to break?

It's glass, and its not really thick, its as easy to break as most things that aren't thick glass . my guess is most people knock there's off a table onto the floor by accident. Sometimes a pet will trip the power cord. There's not really much to worry about breaking an EVO because vapexhale can at least repair them. The original cloud they are not able to repair due to a legal dispute with the 3rd party manufacturer, hence why this thread exists.

Unfortunately from my understanding there are no longer any members willing to repair them, unless someone wants to chime in and say otherwise.

If it was me I would scour this thread for clues, to see if there is a replacement bamboo in existence anywhere at this point. I'm pretty sure it isn't replaceable with an evo bamboo, if I'm wrong maybe somebody could chime in? Anyways if you find one try and see if there's more, I want a spare!

:science:

...I have a cloud too..I'm confused ...is vapexhale NOT making repairs if you send it in?...or is it you just want to repair yourself?....mine still works perfectly...

A replacement bamboo option for the evo will be available late 2017 for those users who wish to repair their evo themselves.

Should there be enough demand for a cloud bamboo we can make that happen.

I like that idea. My bamboo is intact but I have gotten some off flavors and I think it stems from my roommate shoving a pipe cleaner down the bamboo while it was screaming hot. I feel like there's residue down there I can't get out.

I would love a cloud one. I would still need to find someone to do the replacement but need something to replace it with first

Almost there...
Update time!!

I am receiving another broken Cloud for repair!
This time it is from @MGG

I will also be doing something revolutionary with this repair!!
There is an insulation material called Aerogel, it is an amazing heat shield and is very light and easy to work with. I plan to wrap a layer inside the aluminum halves and back fill with the original material.
This will keep it a lot cooler on the outside of the Cloud and may improve heat retention as well to some degree.

For anyone interested, I still have about 2 heaters spare but no bamboo...
Unfortunately VXL will not supply me with any glass to repair older units. I have asked a few times and been told to just buy an EVO, not the point but I get it.

I will post updates on the repair and a video of it's use!

@turk

You got it bro!!
No more repairs, they tell you to upgrade to an EVO...

Honestly can't be thankful enough for this and i'm sorry for the lack of updates.
It's been over a year since I broke my cloud lmao!

@JCat thankfully came through and sent me a new bamboo.

However when I attempted to take my old bamboo off, a wire for the heater came off,
I didn't even use any force, I suppose it was old and had been continuously heating up for a good 4+ years :brow:

At this point I went through a long list of dead ends trying to find someone to reattach the wire.
It was much more complicated than I had initially realised.

Thankfully @lazylathe has offered to come through and replace the heater and insulation and this really does spotlight how insanely good this community is. Honestly so grateful.

Keeping the cloud dream alive

Look forward to following along with the updates and uploading a vape video when it's all done :D
