Here's my new Chill Steel Pipe. I broke 4 pieces off of the Mega-Globe. It was a bong which the base never broken, miraculously, after 3 years. The philosopher Gilles Deleuze talks about the nature of the crack. It accumulates microscopically, it's not always easy to see until a rupture emerges. That's what I worry about with the glass, is that it accumulates small stress, and eventually it's just going to crumble, once I drop it even once.
So that's my sort of obsessive concern with why I got the Chill Steel Pipe. It's great. It takes ice cubes and it's like a big tub of ice. You have to inhale lightly because the draw on it is mega big and it will splash bong water right up at your mouth if you just chug air. That is why I change the bong water often with this thing. It seems like it would be stronger than the Mega-Globe, almost certainly is. It's ceramic encased in stainless steel, I believe. I got mine for 113 dollars, about the price of a nice hardcover book. I've bought so many books before the desire for this thing presented itself to me with the broken accessories for the mega-globe.
The ice really makes a big tumbling sound, like a hot tub with big chunks of solid matter clanking around in it, is what it sounds like. I don't mind the sound, it's not terribly more aggressive than the mega-globe and it is satisfying to draw on. Feels cold to the touch and precipitates some water on it from the cold temperature. It looks magnificent, an attention grabber right in the middle of the room. You definitely feel like you're paying like 150% the cost of mega-globe, but it also feels like an end game rig in terms of non disposable equipment. Sometimes an end game rig in one category isn't going to malfunction like a 300 dollar electronic one which is what my intention is with this Chill Steel Pipe piece.
I wear all my pieces down until they break. I came back 3 years later after my last review to give an impression of several pieces, but I wanted to express my love for the Chill Steel Pipe. It is far sturdier, and more substantial feeling piece than the mega-globe, which I'm retiring before it finally shatters all over my floor.
