Chill Steel Pipe: My Replacement for the Megaglobe

Here's my new Chill Steel Pipe. I broke 4 pieces off of the Mega-Globe. It was a bong which the base never broken, miraculously, after 3 years. The philosopher Gilles Deleuze talks about the nature of the crack. It accumulates microscopically, it's not always easy to see until a rupture emerges. That's what I worry about with the glass, is that it accumulates small stress, and eventually it's just going to crumble, once I drop it even once.

So that's my sort of obsessive concern with why I got the Chill Steel Pipe. It's great. It takes ice cubes and it's like a big tub of ice. You have to inhale lightly because the draw on it is mega big and it will splash bong water right up at your mouth if you just chug air. That is why I change the bong water often with this thing. It seems like it would be stronger than the Mega-Globe, almost certainly is. It's ceramic encased in stainless steel, I believe. I got mine for 113 dollars, about the price of a nice hardcover book. I've bought so many books before the desire for this thing presented itself to me with the broken accessories for the mega-globe.

The ice really makes a big tumbling sound, like a hot tub with big chunks of solid matter clanking around in it, is what it sounds like. I don't mind the sound, it's not terribly more aggressive than the mega-globe and it is satisfying to draw on. Feels cold to the touch and precipitates some water on it from the cold temperature. It looks magnificent, an attention grabber right in the middle of the room. You definitely feel like you're paying like 150% the cost of mega-globe, but it also feels like an end game rig in terms of non disposable equipment. Sometimes an end game rig in one category isn't going to malfunction like a 300 dollar electronic one which is what my intention is with this Chill Steel Pipe piece.

I wear all my pieces down until they break. I came back 3 years later after my last review to give an impression of several pieces, but I wanted to express my love for the Chill Steel Pipe. It is far sturdier, and more substantial feeling piece than the mega-globe, which I'm retiring before it finally shatters all over my floor.

The fact it's ceramic with a steel armour certainly makes this more interesting. Not the best shape for me, but yeah definitely something to think about.

Are you concerned about the ice water condensing too much of the vapour and reducing the impact of the vaped material?

Vapour condenses in cold. The more cold, the more condenses out of it. Otherwise glass pieces would not get dirty.
Interesting the science behind it. I don't feel less high, but it could have some sort of effect I'm not aware of. It cools the vapor a lot when it hits my lungs a lot with the ice.

A buddy of mine has one of these. IMO it's definately a combustion device and totally overkill for vaping. Caveat: I love tiny dry pieces and generally don't need much, if any water conditioning.
My throat gets very sore after using weed all the time, and I tend to use the bud just before it combusts, but without turning to ash on the dynavap. I've found that smaller rigs tend to hurt my throat, but I do tend to have more sensitive skin than most people. I'm glad your rig works for you, more power to you.

Just tried the bonger. I actually find that I like the grip on the dynavap XL titanium a lot more than the small area to hold onto the Bonger. I will use the bonger once this glass piece breaks, but a dynavap mouthpiece to 8-14mm adapter out of a Chill Steel Pipe is the perfect piece for me. I love big rigs as they protect my throat. Another thing which is kind of an advantage of the glass piece, is you can see the thickness of the vapor while you're vaping. Having some indication of what the hit looks like before it leaves your mouth is pretty nifty.

Green420,
I'm going to hijack this thread (apologies, but I'm nosy... er, curious)

Tell me about the bass on the LH side, in the background. I recognize the one on the right as a fairly standard Fender J in Seafoam. But the one on the left looks interesting. Thanks (from a former fellow bassist)

Wrong about the seafoam green one lol. That one is a Carvin IB70 bass with ebony fretboard and stainless steel frets, a custom model, very rare. I got it used from my bass teacher. And the other is an Ibanez fretless 5 string hallow bass with topaz fretboard, which I got as a graduation present. Both are precious to me. What is in a closet is my Fender Mexican Precision Bass. Not a bad bass, it's just I've upgraded, kinda a thick neck on the Fender Precision, which is not in the picture.

The Ibanez has a really Jaco Pastorius like sound, but only if you want it to, and has incredible amount of customizations. It's powered and does metal, as well as jazz. Gets extremely loud, booming, thundering bass if you crank it, great for not being buried in the mix in metal. Pickups on the bridge. Cheers :D
