Cheap High Quality Bubbler

lets just stop talking about it, its a touchy subject. some people can never justify or see the point of a $400 piece and they never will be able to because that's just not their thing. some people can't see the point of a cheap chinese piece because thats just not THEIR thing, its personal preference.

I don't see how we can "just stop talking about it". This thread is about cheap, HIGH QUALITY glass. Users must give feedback as to which are truly high quality pieces and which are not. In the course of that feedback, comparisons to similar, well known, expensive pieces may come up. If owners of this expensive glass are offended by these comparisons, that means we should stop making them? I don't see that as reasonable.

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I know this might be a bit on the large side of things, but thought it was interesting:

GB-024

I keep seeing those crazy jar style things on DHgate and they keep reminding me of those cup style oil rigs...wonder when they'll replicate those...

How big of a leap from this:

or this (closer)...

ya know...just throwing it it out there...

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
those all need longer mouthpieces.... but I see where you're going... the GB 024 looks interesting, larger volume, might need some strong lungs for that one. Looks cool though.

yea, not quite there yet...just posting up about the cup style similarity in case someone like yingmin has an eye on the thread still...

Agreed on the GB-024 - fairly large, but thought it'd be worth posting up.

Cheers!

An airlike fluid substance which expands freely to fill any space available, irrespective of its quantity. :haw:

I first heard of GAS from photographers, it is what they call their lenses.

Loving mine:

Thanks for the vids!

Since you appear to have both the D020-D and GB 187, how do they compare considering GB187 seems to have twice as much slits/cuts?

i make pendants and pipes mainly, but i know a guy (my teacher) who has been in the business for 15 years and we've talked about those dabuccino rigs before. in short - it's quite an insane leap. the reason those are so expensive is because the technique and skill required to create one is really really advanced. they're hard to make because the shape is so odd, and they have to be made perfectly (100% uniform thickness, no bubbles, yadda yadda yadda....) otherwise they break if you look at them wrong because they're so fragile. it will be a while until we start seeing knock off dabuccinos - if we ever start seeing them at all.

I don't have both anymore. I sold the D kept the W. I love the side arm just like @flotntoke says it has many advantages! My 187 quality is right up there with my SOL and EFS it definetly looks better than everyone of my other China pieces. I see two tiny bubbles around my mouthpiece weld and a speckle of a smudge on the base that I'm not sure if I can remove or not yet. The Matrix I received is amazing and better than quite a few at least spacing of slits than I've seen by a very popular brand. I can't believe the value here it's just too good to be true!

You seem to be the only one being insulting in here. Most of us are just giving our honest assessment of pieces we have. Yes I have hit a Mobius before as well as Sovereignty's, Hitman's, Toro's, Roor's, etc. Customs from Elbo, Hamm, Beer, and many others. I'm certainly no expert but I know glass and I know what I like. I'm definitely not a fucking kid. I own pieces that cost 10 times the <$50 bubbler I just received from Dhgate. The FACT is that this 187 functions just as well as pieces that cost exponentially more. Is it a perfectly crafted work of art? No, and I think I made that clear in my last post.

You say I'm not being truthful, that I need to get acquainted with a good piece of glass, and that I cant afford quality so I'm just justifying my purchase. All of those statements are false. These pieces provide a low price, high functioning alternative to high priced glass. They are not a one of a kind work of art nor are they flawless. I am able to appreciate them for what they are, sorry you can't. No need to get so butthurt about it though.

So what I'm saying is think before you type.

I was just about to post something almost exactly like this. Thank you for keeping your head on straight and for providing such a relevant post!

YW! Nah my GB-187 is still in transit. I waited till the first round made it to FC before placing my order.

After the W, I'm a sidecar lover now lol. If yingmin makes the 186\187 in sidecar I'd be all over it!

I just wanted to touch on our conversations yesterday and my comments. I apologize if I got a bit touchy about the subject for my own personal reasons. I didn't come here to bash cheaper glass either, I only wanted the same respect from you guy's and asked not to justify the purchase by bashing those who decided to buy the expensive stuff. We're all entitled to our own opinion and as @ataxian said, we just may think differently.

I could actually learn from some of you, I should be watching my money too. I promise to listen to you guy's and I'm up for a little friendly debate and comparison's when needed, maybe I'll even buy some of the stuff you speak so highly of.

We should all learn from each other, that's why we're all here isn't it?

:science: Here's to loving glass, cheap and overpriced! :disgust:

This thread is flying...
I saw a few pages back some pics of the 189. There were comments that there is no "tornado" vortex effect. IIRC @redglassgallery (jhanpixel) popped in here ( many pages back) and he was saying that the function of the turbine disc was more suited as a splash guard than a perc. The "tornado" vortex, Eagle-Eye whatever uses an entirely different setup.

Lots of people on here making these arguments own or have owned this high end/priced glass. At a bare minimum they have used it and are talking from a place of experience. I have dumped literally a few thousand into glass that I love yet I cannot sit here and honestly claim that it is more functional than the amazingly priced hq China glass that is blowing up right now.

I also believe that determining the value of someone's art might be equally as difficult as someone admitting that they overpaid for a piece of art. Think about it!
