Can't wait to get a vapcap - should I go original or ti woody?

hi,

I been using my pax 2 all week and my lungs feel dry and sinus's irritated - I put about 4 of 5 times herb in my pax and wedge it in with a pipe gauze - an annoying process.

I was hankering fora firefly thinking it was the answer but not being able to afford one, then I heard about vapcap.

I can't wait to get one for microdosong! Exciting. Should I get original or to woody? (Also please share positive thoughts about vapcap)

Thanks

Have an all glass and not too happy with it however the new all stainless model looks better.

I would not buy the original Vapcap - it does not have a rifled oven walls and thus reduced airflow into the oven. I've used the Original Vapcap, the TI Woodie Vapcap, and an OmniVap Vapcap.

I would personally suggest the new Vapcap-M edition which is on sale currently (420 sale)

Woody all the way - I would even recommend it over the more expensive Omnivap just b/c the Woody has the spinning mouthpiece and the Omni doesn't - and the performance/flavor between the 2 models are identical. The spinning MP is one of those innovations that'll make a stoner excited due to how convenient it makes heating the cap with the torch lighter.

So fed up with hassle of trying to use pax 2 for small quantities - always ending up having seven or eight instead of 1 or 2 pulls #firstworldproblems

I'm the one person you will find on the other side of this....I recommend you get an glass OG.

One, its cheap and if you don't like the whole butane VapCap approach you aren't out much money.

Two, the thermal dynamic characteristics of the boro chamber on teh OG is, IMO, way better than Ti. Ti heats very fast and cools very fast. The boro takes me three seconds to heat with a triple flame torch lighter on the first cycle (thereafter maybe 2 seconds) and stays hot longer.

Yeah, there is a good bit of draw restriction but as a result you get these insane thick draws of vapor.

My Ti Woody had impossible draw restriction...much worse that my OG....until I kept swapping Ti tips until I got a later generation that works better. But its still easy for me to char the top layer of herb on my Ti Woody and no such thing every happens to me with my OG.

Just saying....here is another view point.

I want the one that I can inhale my vapour with the minimal amount of draws - I don't want to do lots of unpleasant 'puffing work' like I have to do with pax - if I lived in place where it's legal I would get high cbd oral spray or microdose edibles....I doubt Theresa May would understand in a million years!

OG works better but prune to breaking. I have dropped and broke my OG vapcap on the 5th day I got it.

Not the only person. I'm with you 100%. I have an OG and a Ti Woody S, and my Woody is just sitting pretty while my OG is used daily. Flavor and vapor production are much better with my OG.

I MUCH prefer the glass over a Ti tip for the reasons stated. The Ti tip cools way too quickly for my liking, but that might actually be a good thing for the OP if minimal draws are a priority. I don't think I can differentiate very much regarding draw restriction between the two. As long as I keep the screen relatively clean, not really an issue for me.

The downside is it is much more fragile. I cracked mine from dropping it indoors. It fell from my desk and hit the bottom of a shelf underneath, total distance was probably about 1.5 feet and it cracked. I could probably throw my Ti Woody against the wall (not that I ever would) and it would still be okay.

I don't have any other vaporizers to compare to, but I love the option of microdosing and vaping as little or as much as I want. I can do one cycle, let it sit there and come back to it at anytime. So convenient. It's not without it's flaws (no such thing as a perfect vape), but for my needs it's great.

If for some reason I could only have one for the rest of my life, I would go with a steel model for durability purposes, but I doubt most of us are in that situation. Seems like a lot of people get one and end up trying more (ex. one for home and one for going out).

Thanks for the post!!

I'm still using the original OG that I bought in Jun of 2016 so almost a year old. I have three brand new ones (and some extra bodies and condensers) in back up but I'm still using the original 'original'. LOL

I do have a hairline crack in the chamber from inserting the CCD after a cleaning, but it hasn't broken off, still works, and I don't take the CCD out when I clean anymore (not really needed, I just soak the sucker in ISO and all is good).

I did clean my OG yesterday....first time in a bit...and it had a lot of honey colored reclaim in the condenser. Well, thanks to our number 1 fan of the VC, Squiby, I do have a roll of hemp fiber I got from George and company. So, I wadded up a bit, warmed my glass condenser in the microwave for 20 seconds to loosen things up, and worked that fiber back and forth collecting the reclaim. I then put this into my Mighty in a dosing capsule on top of a liquid pad...capsule and pad were to try to get as much conduction in play as I could. Vaped that sucker and it was delightful. Not a big deal, just one sessions worth, but it had a wonderful stoney reclaim buzz and was worth the effort (and I'm a guy who thinks a lot of reclaim stuff just ain't worth the work).

Still loving my OG and glad you are too.

I have a fantastic memory of my OG... broken too soon during a screen replacement after heavy cleaning... I was so stoned! Yesterday I was going for an Omni, but finally got the glass body replacement and a "M" for the durability and the deal... but what I'm waiting for is for my OG back on duty.

Hi Ander - Hope you are doing well.

IMO, screw taking the CCD out of the OG to clean. Soak in ISO, use a q-tip a bit as needed, and its good to go. Too many cracked chambers from removing/inserting CCDs. Just not worth it.

Let us know how you like your M when you feel you have a handle on it.

Cheers

Haha, you are well stocked on OG's. I just now ordered a replacement body and an XL condenser/MP. I also threw in some hemp fiber thanks to Squiby. Gonna try that route and switch back and forth with the OG. I have a crack at the "bowl" on mine, but it's still usable.

It's always interesting to see how people clean theirs. I'm not a huge reclaim guy either and my AVB gets eaten straight up by me or my dog. For cleaning, I fully disassemble mine and lightly boil in almond milk, then I drink it. It doesn't taste that great to be honest. I might try just water and making tea with it, should be a better experience. The first time I did this (or any type of edible), it sent me to the moon.

I'm not surprised to see some of us still prefer the OG. The wood and steel models are beautiful and definitely have their niche. For me, I'll grab my Ti if I'm going out or heading to a friend's, but at home I always reach for the OG.

Hi Baron - nice to meet you here around a VapCap OG! Hope you are doing great.

Oh yeah... a simple operation done in the wrong way can result in a disaster! then I found George video with the CCD replacement istructions...
but your soaking suggestion is the safest for sure...

I'm trying to figure out how the OG can taste that much better than the Ti Woody? Especially considering the Ti tip cools down faster, you'd think it would be the other way around, or they would taste the same but the Ti would retain it for longer. I've noticed that taste evaluations get very subjective and personal; for example, a few people told me that whole nugs in the Vapcap taste alot better than ground herb. So I heeded their advice and started using whole nugs - but to me I get the same good taste either way; whole nugs don't present a clear taste advantage IMO (same strain and same vapcap used - maybe this varies from strain to strain?). Also everyone who owns a Sticky Brick Jr. is in love with the taste which is great for them, except that I don't share that opinion b/c I personally am not really into the SB's wood signature.
I suppose the OP will need to try at least 2 vapcap models to determine which one suits him better. I am with you on the vapor production due to thermodynamic differences between the OG and woody. That's not to say I can't blow big clouds w/ my Woody, because I can. But I'd say the OG would be better for a session and easier to get huge clouds while being slightly less efficient than the Ti, and the Ti is better for quick in-n-out microdosing.

Hi Ander - I indeed doing well, thank you, and have indeed seen that vid before and had successfully removed and reinserted my CCD into my OG previously. Either the glass just got a bit weak from heat cycles or more likely I didn't get the dome side right on the CCD when putting it back in. But really, I don't see any reason any more to remove it for cleaning.

Hi Friend - well, @Squiby has it right again. Love the one you're with, eh?! LOL

Personally, I'm not sure either Ti or OG has all that much better taste, one to the other. To me, the taste goes quickly in any vape and is dependent on how fast the terpenes boil out (and it sure seems kinda fast).

Don't get me wrong, I like that wonderful taste on the first hit....well, I guess wonderful is pretty subjective. I have some Cherry OG herb I vaped in my OG last night and the first hit reminds me of Lemon Pledge from the terps. Not sure that's a great taste except its associated in my mind with good herb being consumed.

But taste goes quickly and I look mostly for effect and efficiency in getting that effect and so far IME, I do better with the OG.

I can get my Ti Woody to work, but I need to be very careful with it lest it char the top layer of herb (and talk about taste..ugh). The OG is a no brainer for me to use. Just works perfect. Maybe its my Ti Woody, maybe its just me and different people prefer different things.

Cheers

If I was to order an M - what mouthpiece would I need to add to use with a waterpiece?

nobody can tell me what stem or body to get or that they don't work

You can buy a soft mp from Dynavap for a buck and use that over the M mp. It will seal to a 14mm water tool joint.

Or, you could buy a NonaVonG stem and swap it out for the M stem. It also mates with a 14mm joint.

And just any standard length (not xl)?
Site is down for me but that is the 2 options?
I have an og but wasn't in love with the fat rubber as an adapter. The nong is good as a standard mouthpiece too?
