The dumb getting even dumber. Nothing to see here.

The link between lax gun control and stupidly easy access to automatic weapons doesn't deserve any time over Weed, which is the actual problem, of course. It must be a hard problem for the US to solve because no other country has been able to control mass shootings. 🙄

Canada, the UK, Australia, the rest of Europe. No one can stop all the mass shootings in those countries. The US will need to show us the way forward for this intractable problem. Why would anyone think it's access to the actual automatic weapons which are necessary for mass shootings? It's easy to kill 70 people with a revolver or even a knife, right after flying into a murderous rage triggered by weed. I mean who are we kidding?

Let's go back in time 50 years and repeat the war on "drugs" that was so successful.
Curiously enough, the word "assassin" derives from Arabic ḥašīšī ‘member of Nizari branch of Ismaili Muslims’, literally ‘hashish-eater'.

In my view, weed mostly tends to slow down aggressive behavior. People who drive stoned usually go slower than everybody else because they're paranoid about screwing up.

Yeah, it's all so obvious that it's frustrating to see these fools opine about Weed being the devil - still - after all these years. Couldn't be the automatic weapons. We need easy access to assault rifles in our everyday lives.

It's often instructive to have a look at the ties that the most vociferous anti marijuana people have to the liquor industry. Pretty much every state legalizing cannabis shows a measurable reduction in alcohol use, and in some cases a reduction in traffic accidents, or at least a reduction in traffic fatalities. Frankly, to me as a cannabis user for decades that makes perfect sense.

In Thailand now for the winter. As far as anybody knows, the government is still planning on banning recreational cannabis at the end of December. It certainly hasn’t reduced the number of stores around. I’m not sure what’s going to happen, but I’m gonna stock up beforehand and be even more discreet about where I use it.

Ah yup. Nothing more true has ever been said.

However, think different for a minute ... buncha DEA employees, mostly made up of people who are bottom shelf at best, are looking at standing in an unemployment line. Whatcha think they'll do to keep their jobs. Look at early history of cannabis criminalization. Buncha prohibition glowies that were out of work due to 21st Ammendment. They'll have nothing to do (playing my tiny violin).

Thank Zeus, we have brilliance in our leadership. The best of the best!
This is good news. The article doesn't mention the fact that the frequency of deaths per 100,000 might be somewhere around 30-40 per year, depending on which state, so this might represent a decrease of ~10% or more.

Our brilliant leadership might can find a way to reverse this trend if the opioid lobby is strong enough.😵

Is this a New Year's resolution?

uhhhhhhh, let me be clear. I didn't want to be a dick regarding an article about preventing DUI's. Not in general.

I think it's odd that basically every bar outside of Manhattan expects patrons to drive drunk. If we're worried about driving under the influence of alcohol or weed, maybe we should start building communities that look more like this:

And less like this:

A walkable community where you can take a stroll to the dispo, rip a dab from the penjamin, and not worry about having to drive back home?

Reject modernity, RETVRN to tradition!

This woud be lovely but is never going to happen in Carmerica. Even in NYC, a place with great public transportation, they've only recently been able to implement the congestion charge because of the belief that it's somehow unfair to people who for some reason HAVE to drive into Manhattan every day.
