Ever since I was a kid I couldn’t leave well enough alone. Quartz dish and weedeater diffuser on Vrod.

How does changing the diffuser to the weedeater affect performance?

Also, does anyone have any experience with the glass "super slit diffuser" that NV lists for sale? Looking for a decent replacement for my 8in bent neck China glass rig, and the NV super slit glass is checking quite a few boxes.

What did you have to do to get it to work? Interesting the 28mm dish says doesn't fit VROD when it looks exactly like a VROD dish? Or is there another vape with this design as well?

I had both the quartz and SiC dish for my Vrod and did not care for the quartz at all in comparison to the SiC.

The main issue I had was the thermal conductivity of the quartz vs the SiC. When using the quartz, the temp on the Vrod would have to be turned up much higher than with the Sic to get a comparable dish temp. Whereas with the SiC, I could use roughly the same temp for both dabs and flowers, also allowing you to take some double decker rips.

Add in the fact that SiC cleans much easier and the it's easy to see why the quartz dish stayed in my closet until I sold the Vrod!

Cool that your RBR is stable and holding the NV on its own. Do you have a clip or anything? I feel like mine is more tippy than that

Always angle the handle so its as close to the water as possible, keeps all that mass in one place and stops tipping.

The coil handle is fantastically handy for keeping all the balance where it should be.

Agreed. This sudden resurgence in interest for quartz dishes surprises me as all this stuff has largely been already figured out... It is well documented here how SiC is far superior in flavor compared to quartz.

I run my temps below scorching and clean up with one(both ends) qtip. For hotter dabs I can see how the sic might be better for cleanup.

No clip, just gravity.

Just installed it, no modifications. The nut only screws on half way as the quartz dish is taller then the sic.

Definitely no hot dabs here! And believe me, I'm quite familiar with qtips, buy them by the 1875 pack at Sam's for cleaning my dab station.

No matter what temp you like to dab at, when using the quartz dish, your controller will need to be turned to a higher temp to reach the same temp in the dish as compared with the SiC dish. The SiC just transfers heat much more efficiently. This makes it more difficult to achieve an optimal temp for both flower and concentrate without adjusting between the two, at least ime.

If you like the quartz dish, all good. Just trying to make sure other members realize there were several reasons the quartz dish was phased out.

Keeping temps low, ease of cleaning, less variability in production, etc.

Nice RBR...Been eyeing the recent rbr release at NVS Glassworks. The bigger, double diffused like yours should be stable and great for this system.

Next month I want to get a an RBR like that or a worked Ryedeyer style recycler for the Vrod.

@started@52 I see, thanks for the info. It looked like it fit right on, but the page does say "Will not fit VROD"

@newvape918 I wouldn't go to quartz over SiC - been using the same SiC dish for a year and it's great. It's more the novelty of just having it and maybe seeing the pearls spin while taking a rip. For $10 I'll def grab one when back in stock.

EDIT: Now the listing is removed, looks like I asked too many questions.

To DHGate!

Order confirmation on Tuesday. Shipped same day. In my hands today, Friday! Very quick shipping. Thanks NewVape. Customs did hit me with a $25 charge. What can you do? It got here fast n safe.

I've got the diffuser and parts drying after their first wash contemplating having a go with her, but I gotta go to work in a few hours!

I'll do some heavy testing tonight though!

When it comes to traditional hash that does not melt, what temps do yall Reccomended?

Edit*

Talking shit. I HAD to put it to the test. There's no way I could've waited till I'm done work 1am to test it out. Would've killed my soul thinking about it.

Top tier vapor. Started at 650. To me, heatup felt like waiting for my mighty to heat up. First draw was fantastic. Small globe no water. Amongst the nicest vapor I've tasted. Unfortunately I gotta go to work. Otherwise I'd vape till expiry.. now I also have a dedicated dab rig?! I'm geeked. So much experimentation to look forward to.

After 1 session I'm certain this was a great purchase... Think I'll try another .05 at 590 with carb cap.
