I've had no shots, I'm vaccinated with weed, dont need em. Not had covid and have socialised with vaccinated (unweeded) people who got covid afterwards but I didnt.
Ergo it MUST be the weed

Maybe it is better suited for another thread though.

There is talk about it for some time and looks like studies started popping up,so here is one about CBD :) !

Oregon State research shows hemp compounds prevent coronavirus from entering human cells

Abstract

The rapid spread of COVID-19 underscores the need for new treatments. Here we report that cannabidiol (CBD), a compound produced by the cannabis plant, inhibits SARS-CoV-2 infection. CBD and its metabolite, 7-OH-CBD, but not congeneric cannabinoids, potently block SARS-CoV-2 replication in lung epithelial cells. CBD acts after cellular infection, inhibiting viral gene expression and reversing many effects of SARS-CoV-2 on host gene transcription. CBD induces interferon expression and up-regulates its antiviral signaling pathway. A cohort of human patients previously taking CBD had significantly lower SARSCoV-2 infection incidence of up to an order of magnitude relative to matched pairs or the general population. This study highlights CBD, and its active metabolite, 7-OH-CBD, as potential preventative agents and therapeutic treatments for SARS-CoV-2 at early stages of infection.

I’m not making any claims here. Anecdotes aren’t evidence. I’m simply holding a massive fucking W over my girlfriend for shits and giggles.

Also important to note, the study mentioned CBDA and CBGA. I do vape a lot of CBG kief. No way to know, but maybe it tipped the odds in my favor a bit.

Just got over Covid myself and just so happened to have ordered a bunch of cbd hemp flower to vape prior to getting infected. I remember one morning waking up with a hard time breathing and pain in my chest, vaped 3 good bowls of the cbd hemp from a Mighty... in about 2 hours my lungs felt totally fine and stayed fine until I fully recovered. I had a 5 day total recovery so pretty quick. Anecdotal sure, but I definitely felt it help me first hand.

I went through the same scenario, GF doesn't partake, came down with it - we live in a relatively small place, 1 bathroom, we shared a bed for a few nights before she found out she had it, etc etc. Everything we're told, I should have 100% caught it too, considering I haven't gotten any shots.

I didn't even get the sniffles. Maybe it is the weed. I was in and out of the bedroom constantly while she wasn't feeling well, bringing meds, tea, water, food, whatever. Nonetheless I've been dangling that W over her head too. I tell her between my Polish-Irish blood and the weed I cant be stopped. I was also drinking and vaping much more than normal during that time period cause well, didn't have much else to do.

That said, the Oregon article really focuses on CBGA and CBDA. I'm not going to pretend to be too knowledgeable on Cannabinoids, all I really know about them is that I enjoy them. I did think that those two go through a chemical change once heat is applied, at least at the temps we're vaping at - presumably high enough to activate the full spectrum, or at least most of it. Those 2 cannabinoids have some of the lowest boiling points so I would guess that by the time we're inhaling it, its been heated to the point of conversion. CBGA and CBDA would essentially have to be consumed via eating raw, unheated, weed, no?

Personally I would think that the benefits are still there but it's just interesting that they ONLY refer to those two compounds, acids, that convert once heat is applied. Why just those 2? I just wonder what actually happens when heats applied and if that alters the results of the study

Good point. Though I'm guessing your liver converts those acids into the "active" form, just like it does with THC.

Even before the 'vids there were studies showing active CBG is very helpful for infections and overall immune response. All I know is I'm glad I placed a few Wisconsin Hemp orders last year. He threw a gram of CBG kief in every order. So I'm gonna keep adding a dollop to my morning CBD bowl.

I should probably look into oral CBG as well. I have a shitty digestive system, and inhaled CBG helps calm it down a bit. I imagine eating it would be even better.

@BrianTL similar experience here, my girlfriend got COVID from her parents back in October 2020. We live together in a 2 bedroom condo. I started sleeping in the other room / using the second bathroom as soon as we realized she was exposed, wore masks around each other, etc. I never got it. I’ve been exposed a few additional times since and still haven’t gotten it. I’m convinced it’s the weed.

The study that @Abysmal Vapor posted seems to really refer to just CBD, not specifically the acids, so idk. Does the conversion really damage THAT much? For all we know, that conversion makes it more effective.

But yes I remember before the vids I even joked with her about vaping being good for my immune system because of that. I would think oral CBG is probably a better delivery method than vaping the kief, but who knows! I dont think I've seen any oral CBG for sale, but I've never looked either.

We'll just have to continue this experiment, in the name of science of course.

99% CBG isolate is available at a lot of CBD vendors for really cheap. Actually now that I think of it, wouldn't the kief be mostly CBGA before it's heated? I guess I could just eat that. But I'm pretty sure most studies besides the recent 'vid one have said active CBG is beneficial. I've long considered decarbing some of the kief to make a nice AM tincture.

Even if it doesn't cure the 'vids, CBG is a great 'noid. Unlike CBD, modest amounts seem to enhance THC effects rather than blunting them.

Feel like I’m winnin’ when I’m losin’ again
Been thinking of picking up some CBG to try for a while; almost grabbed 10g kief from WHF for $60 but upon checking around Horn Creek is offering it at $12 per 3.5g or $55 per 28g! Figured at that price it’s certainly worth trying out the anecdotes for myself!

I suppose you're right and that would be the CBGA... eat a couple spoonfuls and let us know your results lol. But again, they dont say the CBGA loses its "benefits" as it pertains to C-19 when it gets heated, so you may not have to go through the joy of eating spoonfuls of keif anyway.

I went back and gave the article from Oregon State a little more attention, just skimmed earlier, a lot of it is WAAAAY over my head but some interesting things I noticed

“These cannabinoid acids are abundant in hemp and in many hemp extracts,” van Breemen said. “They are not controlled substances like THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, and have a good safety profile in humans. And our research showed the hemp compounds were equally effective against variants of SARS-CoV-2, including variant B.1.1.7, which was first detected in the United Kingdom, and variant B.1.351, first detected in South Africa.”

That had me thinking they just focused on the acids because it IS fully legal and accessible in all states as a Hemp extract. Similar wording is in the actual published findings

Importantly, cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid were equally effective against the SARS-CoV-2 alpha variant B.1.1.7 and the beta variant B.1.351. Orally bioavailable and with a long history of safe human use, these cannabinoids, isolated or in hemp extracts, have the potential to prevent as well as treat infection by SARS-CoV-2.

But then on the other hand they actually DO mention that there's a difference, between the acids and the common CBG/CBD most people are familiar with. They dont actually go into detail or say that the acids lose their "effectiveness" when they're heated and converted.

“These compounds can be taken orally and have a long history of safe use in humans,” van Breemen said. “They have the potential to prevent as well as treat infection by SARS-CoV-2. CBDA and CBGA are produced by the hemp plant as precursors to CBD and CBG, which are familiar to many consumers. However, they are different from the acids and are not contained in hemp products.”

Then this makes me wonder how the other cannabinoids ranked as well

“We identified several cannabinoid ligands and ranked them by affinity to the spike protein,” van Breemen said. “The two cannabinoids with the highest affinities for the spike protein were CBDA and CGBA, and they were confirmed to block infection.

I take that as the other cannabinoids function similarly, but just not as much as the 2 highest ranking ones

Is there anything showing that smoke inhalation stunts this immune response or is not stopping viral gene expression because of carcinogens in the smoke?
I have no data to point to except an anecdote about my friend who caught covid a few months ago, she is a daily weed smoker. She told me the whole timeline of her symptoms and it was not a good time. She was more sick than some people I know who got it with very mild symptoms, and those people don't touch weed or hemp.
Common sense would tell me that vaporizing or ingesting maximizes these effects whilst smoking minimizes or even negates them, depending on the individual?

For those who did not read the study, there is no indication that smoking or vaping have any role in preventing SARS-COV2 infections.

Wow, long read but chock full of solid data.
The article focused on BCP (B- caryophyllene) which can be
found in many plants, especially Marijuana.
In conclusion it states that clinical trials must be done
to fully understand how this works.
Now that the NFL is looking into cannabis maybe more
peer reviewed trials will be started.
Nothing was mentioned about smoking or vaping just oral
preparations.
I will reread it carefully.
Good article!

I got gifted a vial with it, and i can say it really potentiates the experience .I just started reading about this most common terpene but it seems it is one of the very few that acts directly on the CB-2 ,it is probably one of the strongest potentiators of the main cannabinoids.
Smells really funny ,to be honest ,smth like pepper but also a bit piney, i kind of like the aftertaste - reminscent of a bubblegum.
There is also a read on it in this one if you scroll down a bit.
""Of interest, the anti-inflammatory activity of β-caryophyllene is comparable to the potency of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, phenylbutazone [108], suggesting that this terpene is a potent anti-inflammatory molecule.""

Ayurvedic medicine has known about the therapeutic properties of peppercorns / beta caryophyllene for thousands of years. Not enough money to be made off it for western patent based medicine though. Same reason D-limonene cancer treatment isn’t popular even though there exists tons of medical literature on it.

I recently brushed up on some of this data to remove some growths on my dog with a terpene enhanced cannabinoid infused topical. The vet wanted $2000 per lump to surgically remove them. In a week or two they had receded completely.

here is a GC thread about that , very interesting reading and learning https://forum.grasscity.com/threads/cannabis-black-pepper.1282798/#post-19523600

@invertedisdead check out Bob Melamede website ( canna-sapiens) .. he shows results from using the cannabis oil to treat cancers ... one of the times it seemed like the cancer grew more but they later found that it was peroxide being formed at that stage to then further remove the cancerous mass ...
the one with the guy who had 120 some radiation """"" treatments"""" that completley ate the top of his head away is some horror story tyep shit ... the cannabis oil helped him grow back his scalp and started growing hair back as well before he ended up back in the hopsital and they killed him giving him something he was allergic too .. the doctors had written him off after 120+ unsuccessful tries at poisioning him as a treatment ( WTF??)

Yeah black pepper is know for its effect and potentiation of other substances. I dont know if you familiar with oilhuasca tech,

Another thing worth exploring is the vaporization of White sage,a ceremonial spirit cleansing herb. It is very terpene rich and not only effects cb but also the m receptor.(which is potential for incrased pain relief.)
It has mindblowing effects in combinations and you breath like a champ, like you do after vaping mint.

Damn, @Abysmal Vapor - I love you man ! thanks for all the hope in your world view being presented here for others

Edit - also for this thread the researchers found that THC-a was possibly better than CBD-a/ CBG-a .... !!! they were not able to say that however as the elitists and their federal laws prevented such ... just wanting to mention that
