I can’t justify the $40 Sneaky Pete charges, and I already have a decent set of spoons.
Can someone recommend a decent tamper for under $20?

I'm trying to figure out what is $40 on sneaky Pete's site that would match that description.
To me, it depends on your vape what kind of tamping tool you would need. I rarely tamp down anything because I prefer convection devices.
However The Rogue Wax Works has lots of great tools:

Yeah, anything wood or metal or stone (or even plastic, because you're not tamping down on a hot surface) with a round flat end of about the right size will work for a tamper till you can find one you like.
As far as a scoop goes, before I could afford a better one I bought these off Amazon for like seven bucks, and they work fine till you can get something you like better:

FYI, it is a fabulous spoon and tamper. I too thought the price was outrageous until I ordered one. I quickly ordered a second back up once I had it.

I have the OH spoon too and I wish I got the Amazon one first because i like it just as much. It was release much later than the OH spoon

The reason I personally don’t spend much on “tampers”, is most of my devices have different bowl sizes.
Since you didn’t mention any particular device you are trying to match a tamper to, it’s a generic question that’s for me would be impossible to accurately answer.
Recently bought the S&B Venty, the best solution for me was to make a custom tamper with two parts I already have. (Link below).
I don’t bother with trying to find a “perfect” tamper, as there is no UNIVERSAL tamper that would work with my many devices, so save your money, and use simple things that just FIT!

I'm an Arizer fan myself. I tried a plenty a few years ago and did not like the experience. I have had good experiences with the Volcano but i'm not sure it's better than the Extreme Q (imo). What makes this better than a Solo II for example? I'm just not sure i get it? Like, if there was one...

Always have a couple handy too, literally NEVER had to search for one and that's a great bonus!
