There are actual threads dedicated to this exact thing on this forum! Cannabis withdrawal is actually officially recognized as a disorder, and it's not a walk in the park for many people. Although I agree that caffeine withdrawal sucks ass too, and is no laughing matter, neither is cannabis withdrawal.
But it's not physically addictive. Maybe mentally..maybe. That's just your willpower imo.

I disagree, I know i'm part of the 9-10% dependent on it, and I can't "willpower" any of the withdrawal effects away... i've been at this game for a decade though, and my brain may be permanently rewired at this point. Regardless, not the place, been discussed much on the forum before, and everyone believes that what is in their heart is right. If you can abstain completely for 2 weeks without issue, then you are just different as if everyone else. Debilitating insomnia for weeks, horrible night sweats, chills, and lack of appetite are just a few of the more common withdrawal effects...for me, they are brutal, worse than any flu i've ever had. I've also gone through caffeine withdrawal, and it sucked equally bad. I used to think it was just me, but the world of google shows just how common it is. I really wish it was all mental and my willpower.

Everyone is different because your body and your use will differ from others. I would think it would depend on how much of either substance you use and how sensitive your body is to the substance.

I don't get withdrawal when not using MJ. Caffeine is another story...I used to dread having to take those blood tests where you fast for 12 hours and couldn't have coffee because I'd get headaches and foggy until I got my coffee fix. I've been told I can have black coffee in morning prior to the tests now but for MRIs its still a no go with the caffeine.

As an epileptic, withdrawal symptoms from any substance can cause my seizure threshold to lower, making me more at risk. Even lack of sleep can do this. I have never had any withdrawal symptoms from cannabis that were great enough for me to feel like I was at risk of having a seizure. I get all the symptoms biohacker speaks about, but they are not even close to comparable to withdrawal symptoms from coffee. If I stop taking coffee I have to cut back slowly or I'm at risk of having a seizure. Cannabis does not do this, despite the fact that it can help as an antiepileptic drug. I've had seizures from prescription medication withdrawal, alcohol withdrawal, coffee withdrawal, coffee overdose, lack of sleep, lack of food, but never lack of cannabis in my system. It really is a miracle drug for people in my situation, in that even missing a dose is not the end of the world. If I miss a dose of my prescription anti epileptic drug, I very well could wake up in the ER.

EDIT: The closest stopping cannabis has come to causing a seizure was when lack of sleep from stopping was the trigger. I've found that I can stop cannabis and not be at risk so long as I practice proper sleep hygene, and maybe replace my session with a cup of chamomile tea. Then there really isn't any noticeable negatives.

For the record, I no longer consume coffee or alcohol because it just isn't worth the risk of a seizure. Cannabis on the other hand will likely be with me for life :)

All I know is when I go on vacation to the states I don't bring any bud and don't even think about it while I'm gone. Coffee on the other hand if I stop drinking it on the 2nd and 3rd day I have very nasty headaches which I do not get unless I'm experiencing caffeine withdrawal.

That being said when I'm home and just doing my thing if I don't have a supply of MJ it makes me a little bummed out. So for myself anyways caffeine is physically addictive while cannabis is not.

I also wake up each morning with the thought of coffee on my mind and don't really think about MJ till i'm actually awake.

Kinda silly to even compare them, Hell "anything" can be more addictive than cannabis if it's something you really like and can't imagine living without. (That Sunday night show, that specific product from the soda fountain at the mini mart, the perfect Greek Yogurt). I can say the only withdrawal from cannabis I've ever had is Boredom and that is remedied by going and finding something to do, which normally is pretty easy since there is always a nice stack of neglected tasks that don't get attended to when i'm High. lol.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
Always though coffee was mildly physically addictive in the form of headaches. Also has some actual side health benefits (in moderation of course;)). But if you have the urge to quit or have quit caffeine. good on you.

People have told me that they don't want to be around me until I've had my coffee. So I rationalize they must be addicted to me drinking coffee.:D Yes, I have also had the caffeine headaches and been lethargic without it. But when I started grinding my own beans, there seemed to be less of those negative effects for me. Or that I'm part coffee bean.

Live in a town with 4 coffee roasters. But I choose to have 5 lbs of freshly roasted beans delivered to my house from an 'estate'. (best price per pd too) So that's my take.

I have been around some people who rage a little when they are without their green. So I 'd tell them the Bob Denver story to calm them down. :
Bob Denver of Gilligan's Island used to do conventions and would ask around if anybody had any boo to smoke and he wasn't picky either. Most conventioneers were naturally unprepared and/or couldn't help him. So his reply was a shrug and "it would have been nice." then he'd continue with the convention unaffected.
This small anecdote has helped those "jonesing" for something that can be rethought of in a more casual manner than 'need'. That seems to be enough to relieve that tension.
Unless say you have a genuine medical condition. :peace:
