If it is a torch for heating nails then I have one tip for you guys :D Honest 501. I say no more ;)
(well I will. I have had one now for over two years, a friend has the same. Both work great, and they have a huge flame. Can be bought on dealextreme for about 22dollar I believe)

and for a few bucks more (less with the 20% off coupon they always have) and less time (stuff from dealextreme takes at least 3 weeks to ship) you can have this one. i have it and it is great. and if it breaks i go back to the store and they replace it

Hm yeah I suppose the difference between the two, with the coupon, isn't that big. Return policy is probably worth it.

Can't say the same for the $12 torch VS the bonjour though =P

Anyone have issues with the ceramic filter on the VG looking smaller and not as round and flat? Also, tried cleaning the filter with boiling water (as a last resort..) and it looks a little better and is def not clogged. But im concerned about the filter being unsafe...

Your question would probably be answered more quickly if you ask it in the vapor genie thread ;)

What kind of butane do folks use to refill their torches? I have the blazer 8000 and I have no complaints, except that after reading this thread I could have gotten a cheaper one, but it serves my needs just fine. Bought butane to fill it from the local head shop but I figure I can but more online for cheaper, I just don't know which brands are reputable etc or if that even matters for dabbing since you're really only heating stuff up not directly inhaling or extracting oil with it. Recommendations?
Thanks!

You should always use at least triple filtered butane but go for a higher quality . Vector, Xikar, Colibri etc. Cheap butane like Zippo clogs your lighter.

There is also a model that work with the standart BIC lighters as they are more common in US i think there is a product called MicroJet Torch that uses them:)

That extended neck model looks cool. The cassette torch is an idea I don't quite see the value in. Another disposable lighter in the landfill every time you need to fill up your torch? There are much smaller torches that hold more fuel that have the same sized flame.

Check this out. 30 dollars and its the same as the 50-60 dollar vector torch. HUGE flame, heats TI things up incredibly quick. Got one from Bed Bath and Beyond locally for 30 dollars, same price as amazon. I highly recommend this torch.

(this is the same one, new version with fuel gauge)
thanks for the recommendation just picked one up and the flame is epic!!!! only problem was stupid guy at the store kept telling me they didnt sell them lol

canj00digit?

All my days in a daze...
Had a cheap chinese torch, moved up to a Newport Zero which I really liked except for the lame, stiff plastic safety switch which finally broke and took the torch with it. To replace that I recently got an often recommended torch, the Blazer Big Shot Gt8000. I see why it's so well liked. Absolute bad ass butane torch.
And no pain in the ass safety switch. :D

Hey guys, just purchased a couple of cheaper torches off ebay. About to buy some butane but I wanted to hear what you guys recommend first.

Would the super filtered Vector butane be overkill? I hear torches aren't fussy like other devices may be (iolite for ex.). Would a cheaper, less filtered butane work the same for torch-only use?

Cheaper butane will work fine but will eventually clog the torch. Of course if they are cheaper torches though is it worth it to feed them more expensive butane or just replace them. I generally use whatever I can get from my LHS which changes brands frequently in my bed bath & beyond torch. I will occasionally use some cheap ronson when I run out because I can get it at CVS

Well, cheap in price but hopefully not in quality! I got a 10 buck honest torch (similar to the one sold on the lotus site) and a 20 dollar vector torch.

If it doesn't matter i guess ill try some mid level fuel just to prolong the life a bit. Thanks for the info!

Follow up question: would the quality of the butane be more noticeable in a blue flame, pinpoint tip style lighter over the yellow, soft flame ones? (I bought one of each, soft flame for my VG and blue flame for other vapes). I'd prefer to fill them both with the same butane if it doesn't matter.

I only use the butane in my torch but I don't see why it wouldn't work in either. I can tell you when I use cheap butane,I occasionally see embers in the outer flame, they look almost like little sparks.
