I used to be that way too. Some experiences along the way cured me of that. You seem hell-bent on becoming a victim, no matter what anyone tells you.

Come on now, wise up and get some street smarts. Law enforcement is ripping you off and threatening your freedom, your child's well-being and possibly your future livelihood. Stop helping them do that by posting details and personal information here before your legal issues are settled!

It was a story. About church and honesty. And the teacher is dead.

I try to be truthful in my life for the most part. If my freedom is at stake, I'm going to lie like I've never lied before. @samantabha Be careful posting too much info. I don't know if posting a picture of yourself is wise? What you post online is there forever.

A lot can be said for purchasing a smell proof container. I'm assuming that's what gave you away.

Thanks, @CarolKing. Maybe that would be something to invest in (the smell-proof container). I really appreciate your advice and that of the other members here. I feel badly that I may have caused anyone to be angry or to expend energy in being greatly concerned for me. I never intended to try to invoke sympathy, only to express myself. I will try to exercise more restraint.
It's good that very soon none of this will matter much....
On a different note, though related to the theme of freedom, I just found a photo that illustrates the main battle I have with myself:

Nebraska cops lining their pockets doing a roadside check.

Nebraska cops still pissed about Colorado legalizing marijuana are pushing for increased monetary penalties for cannabis possession as well as increased funding to pay for the overtime they are all milking. Police Chief B.J. Wilkinson of Sidney, Nebraska (population 7,000) says he's written more marijuana tickets in five months than he did in all of last year. "Five out of every ten" stops results in a marijuana arrests, he says. They've already run through their yearly allotment of overtime pay to pay for cops to go to court for the marijuana cases. It's "deteriorating a quality of life here" in his town, he says.

We bet. Your cops are too busy shooting fish in barrels to deal with any actual crime in their town.

Back in the forties black people traveling by car in the United States had to exercise considerable caution. There were towns to be avoided, accommodations that accepted Negroes, etc. A guidebook existed: The Negro Motorist Green Book, published '38 - '64 by Victor H. Green. Possibly we cannabis fans need a similar publication nowadays.

edit: The Weed Go Motorist Green Book?

That's fine, don't let your mind make you think you were in the wrong. People just think it's wise to be careful :) No blood, no foul! Just opinions with good intentions.
I am truthful, honest, calm and all that other pacifistic stuff..
But when it comes to driving around with paraphernalia, omg I go to extremes. I've even duct-tapes 2 grams of weed to the underside of my car before because I was driving high and didn't want to have anything incriminating on me.. You gotta be extra fucking paranoid sometimes because it only takes one fuck up and they've got ya!
I got pulled over yesterday for nothing, and I narrowly avoided a ticket for not even doing anything.. Passed the breath test, was under the speed limit, but the guy was still asking quesitons and trying to get me to confess to doing ANYTHING.
Got forbid he could smell cannabis in my car >_<

You're probably going to take this the wrong way... but suck it up, pay your fines and move on while using better judgement next time. The cops were abiding to their state/local and federal laws. They were just doing their job, and they let you off extremely easy considering your possession amounts. Why in the FUCK did you need three ounces when you can semi-legally carry up to an ounce on you in Nebraska? Decriminalization with a $100 civil fine for that.

Profiling or not, it sounds like you could have exercised way more caution behind the wheel. I just don't have sympathy for people who complain about police when they were knowingly breaking the law but it's obviously different in the scenario of cannabis activism. Still, you broke the law and got extremely lucky with your consequences. (Thus far..)

I live in Colorado. I grew up in Kansas. I've driven I70 probably over 30 times in my life. I've never been pulled over. I've done three trips to South Dakota and Kansas this year alone and haven't had problems. Maybe I'm just lucky, maybe I'm overly cautious.

Just remember, "only break one law at a time".

Good luck with everything. Just know it could have been much worse and that Nebraska has been, at least, moving in the right direction. I knew people in Lincoln, NE who would get popped with under an oz and just pay their ticket. Everyone in my town in Kansas would got to jail for anything. I got popped when I was 17 and it was two misdemeanors and I almost got charged with DUID and child endangerment (wouldn't have held up since the cop let me drive home and I was a child.. scare tactics lol) but it was still probation and lots of fees, UAs, etc. So I feel the pain about the system being broken. I'm not defending the cops actions, just saying the OP should be a bit more rational about the situation.

Edit - I only read the first page too, so just ignore me if someone already covered this and I'm just beating a dead horse.

Thanks! Actually, everything you're saying here, we pretty much thought and did. We exercised a ton of caution and I had no personal problem with the cops (it's the system I despise). My uncle was a cop and it was always "the law is just the law". I'm chalking this up to experience. It's given me a taste of the horror that so many other people have had to endure. For that it's been invaluable.

Very good article which makes clear how the Ferguson business is essentially another facet of policing for profit: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-watch/wp/2014/10/16/why-we-need-to-fix-st-louis/
They are doing things like fining a woman $25 for sleeping at her boyfriend's house. Fines for not paying fines on time...
This is an excellent article. I know that the police & some local governments tend to prey on the less well off. But I had no idea it could be institutionalized on this scale. This is evil. No wonder the folks in the Ferguson area are pissed.

I usually scoff when I hear that we live in the greatest country in the world. Try telling that to the people dragged into these municipal courts to pay another fine they can't afford for some petty offense.

Those seeking further insight might be interested in Mike Konczal's essay Against Law, For Order. I also recommend Bob Altemeyer's excellent (and free) little book The Authoritarians.
